for a family of 6

my best friend (33) her hubby (34) her daughter (18) her son (16) her other son (8) and his daughter (9)

all want to go in july, and she is asking for my help since i am such a disney planner for our trip lol

she is not even sure what she wants to do, she is really really looking at me to help them out.

any advice ?

i guess i should start with hotels, and i asked her if she wanted to stay on site or off and she said what do i think lol

so we all see how that is going lol

Oh man - she's got to help a little bit!!

Get the planning video and someprices and start with accomdoations.

When I went w/ my sister & Bil last year they arrived 2 days before us. I gave them an itinary for their 1st 2 days with my park recommendation and ride suggestions (even direction such as walk past the tree of life to find the Safari's) They did everything I said - and then followed me around for the 5 days we were together!!!!

lol, that is what's going to happend to me also. i know they are on a budget not a tight one though. i was thinking maybe 2 rooms at the value resorts and not a deluxe.

i guess i need to start from scratch with this one since my disney trips i dont have kids lol

I agree with two value resort rooms. With a AAA rate, you can get Pop Century for $84.15 per night in July, which is what we are doing.

Get them the planning video and watch it with them so you can answer questions. A guide book would also be a good idea. I'd suggest Birnbaums for first-timers since it has color photos and and is written in a very positive upbeat way.

Explain fastpass to them and make sure they understand how important it will be for them at such a busy time of year! I can't stress this one enough!!!

Try and talk them in to at least one character meal, even if it means doing counter service for the rest of their meals. The family photo ops will be priceless.

Speaking of dining, if they do choose to eat TS meals, make sure they understand about ADR's and the importance of making them soon.

Direct your friend to mousesavers, allearsnet, and most important, the dis boards! I have no idea how people plan a disney trip without them!

Have fun helping your friend! :mickeyjum

Thanks this isnt my first time planning for friends. I planned a seaworld. universal island, and a trip to animal kingdom (including little things such as wonderworks) for one of my other managers without
but it was easier because it was just her and son.
they leave march 19th for 6 nights

i have no kids, so its much harder for me to plan this one.

i'm not sure about the character meals though, the little girl is a very big tom boy right now. So i will for sure ask what they think about it and get prices ( where do i look up prices for that ? )

I agree with the people who say to get her a planning DVD and a guide book and set her free.

I'm not sure exactly how that happened! ;) :goodvibes had to read that one twice to figure it out. :teeth:

I'd start with when they want to go, how long they are going to be there and where they want to stay. Then I'd tell them to get a Birnbaums and tell them to pick out 5 things they each want to do.

Planning is fun, even when it is for someone else, isn't it?

Go to www.allearsnet.com and click on 'Dining' then 'Menus'. You can see the menus and prices for all WDW restaurants. Just so they know, character meals are not just for the "princesses" of the group; There are plenty of meals with Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and Goofy. They are definitley NOT girly! When my son, who is all boy and then some, was 12 he had a great time at Donald's Breakfastosaurus because Goofy was so, well... Goofy!

ok, thanks i will check out that link again for the character stuff woohoo

i just love planning maybe i should be a travel agent lol
