I have ressies 23 nights FW ---our motorhome- --200 loop requested last part of Jan thru first part of Feb. We usually go to Hawaii--Waikiki--last part of Jan thru Feb. We have been going to Hawaii for 14 years ( husband has been going for 24 years). Few years ago we bought a condo a block from the Waikiki beach. We love the weather ---upper 70's lower 80's most everyday. I'm getting worried after reading posts about weather at WDW in Dec. and Jan. that I might be disappointed. Now I don't need Hawaii weather to be happy but I don't want to freeeeeeeeeze either. I'd be happy with sun and temperatures in the 60's anything above would be a gift. I'm even OK if it rains a day or two as it rains plenty in Hawaii. I just don't want freezing rain. Please give me some insight as what I'm really in for. Thanks in advance. I know it's my choice but I could use knowledgeable information deciding. I also know I'll miss all my beach buddies---As we only see them once a year in Hawaii. Oh the other biggie---We live in WAshington state so I'll be driving---Flight on Hawaiian only 6 hours from PDX---Travel time in motorhome from PDX appx 10 days. (350 miles a day). They need a Disney park in Hawaii---Then I'd be truely Hap Hap Happy.

I vote WDW!!!!!!!, but then again, I've never been to Hawaii, but there's just something about that Disney magic that makes it my only choice!!!!!

That's a tough choice! When I read your title - I immediatly thought "Hawaii", because for me, I've done WDW several times, but Hawaii would be a once in a lifetime vacation.....

But, in any case - I've been to WDW in late Jan, early Feb 2x. The weather is actually quite nice. The first time we went that early, we hit an unusually cold streak & it went down to the lower 50's at night (being from Western NY, this was not a big problem for me,:D ) Daytime temps that trip, were 60's - 70's. Last time we went, the temps were warmer - daytimes
temps higher 70's, low 80's - nighttime temps around the low to mid 60's. No rain at all either trip..
The travel there is a biggie for you, but I would make an adventure out of it.
I envy your choices 23 days in WDW vs. going to a second home in Hawaii....can I borrow your life for a month, please?

You just mentioned the two places we always vacation! Well, almost. The differenence is that we HATE Waikiki, but love the Big Island of Hawaii! We also love WDW! Actually, going the END of Jan. through Feb. should be perfect! When we have had cool weather in WDW, it has been Dec.-Jan. Late Jan.-Feb. should be fine.

I think you'd have a blast in Florida in January and February, but I don't like the heat so winter is my favorite time to visit. You should have pleasant days and some cool mornings and evenings. I bet you'd love it.

What a choice to have to make. Man, I feel sorry for you.

I'd choose Hawaii b/c I really want to go there (never been) and I've been to WDW so many times. :)

If you have done Hawaii so much and want a break I say WDW!!! The weather should not be to bad....Been in January and we had great weather, but have heard horror stories about the cold too.

I wish I had that type of decision to make....Good luck, and enjoy whatever you choose. You don't want to adopt me do you???

I say WDW, you can cut the drive time in half if you drive 700 miles per day, which is not that bad at all. We drove non-stop, 5 adults in a mid-sized sedan for 700 miles last summer and I didn't mind.

Thank you all for your insight.

I have driven 752 miles in one day----needed a 3 day rest just to continue the rest of the drive. I learned my lesson.

I feel better about the weather issue. Like I said anything above 60 will be OK.

MY DH has Lou Gehrig's so I do all the driving. I worry I'll get to tired ----but as DH says " we are traveling with a kitchen, bathroom, and our own bed so we can rest when ever we need to.

I know next year we will be in Hawaii 3 to 4 months, as this trip will be the last long trip in the motor home. Because of his illness we are planning to sell after the winter trip.

Anyway Thank you all.

PS. MY DH and I are attending the Dis-con II. I noticed a few names that look familiar from that board so maybe we'll have a chance to talk at the convention.

drove 952 miles after being up 12 hours and was up a total of 40 hours in a row....only stayed at disney for 4 days before returning home..whole time it seemed we were staying up late/getting up early....running on adrenaline the whole time..

I think you get the drift..
I vote for WDW...:o

I think the weather that time of the year can be tricky to predict. And I think it depends a lot on the weather pattern of a given year.

We went to WDW the first week of February in 1999, and the weather was perfect! I mean, wonderful--70's at night and low 80's during the day.

Nice enough to do some swimming, but not hot enough to bother us while park touring.

Since you will have just gotten back from WDW, I recommend sticking with Hawaii. How fortunate you are to have the choice! :D

It's official-----Drum roll Please------Dale is thrilled-----It's Florida -----And WDW. We'll just take our time. DH really wants to make this trip. Again thanks for your input. If you ar ever going to Hawaii during the winter months please look us up. We take our lap top----but remember not until next year.

PattyN and Dale too

PS---the weather issue was the deciding factor.
