Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a good book to buy about planning a trip to Disney? There are so many, so I want to be sure to buy a good one that will be helpful. I'd like to try to plan as much as possible with Magic Kingdom before we go. Thanks so much!

I think I have read them all in planning our first trip. I like the detail and the reviews that the Unofficial Guide presents. It details each ride, and goes on to what might be scary, who might enjoy it, wait times, when to ride, etc.

Second suggestion would be Passporter. I like the maps with travel times, but find it lacks much of the detail that UG has. I see this more as a planner (keeping things inside, writing down times, etc. with benefits.

Birnbaums Guide was nice to look at, but I didn't find it as useful in my planning.

I was going to say the unofficial guide, also birnbaums and the passporter. I always get each 1 each year; cause I have to read everything disney and I'm a total addict!

Passporter is a must! Followed up by the Unofficial Guide. You cant go wrong with these two books!

Another vote here for the unofficial guide. I just love reading all the comments. You can usually check it out at the library, but I like having my own copy!

Passporter is wonderful. UoG I would list second (if you have children I would NOT recommend the UoG w/ kids). I've bought several others but after a while - they all start to look the same :)

I LOVE  the Passporter!!! Not only does it have great information on all things Disney, but the pockets in the back are great. It is kind of like a little journal, so you can quickly jot down what you did on each day, what the weather was like and how much money you spent. I love reading it after we get back. Then I pull it out again when I'm planning our next visit to see what worked and what didn't!

On Passporter - one thing I didn't mention is their maps are great. They fold out and list travel times to each section of the parks. I still like UG best, but Passporter second. I really think if you can have them both that is the ticket. I also agree the UG with Kids isn't worth it
.

I appreciate all of the suggestions. I think I will go with the Passporter, since I do like to write things down and keep notes. Thanks a lot! I am so glad I found these boards. They have already been so helpful!:)

The Passporter, can that be found at your local book store or is it specific to Disney? Sounds like I need to get one.
