I just raided my friends wine rack for a gift bottle and I want to replace it with a nice hard liquor. I have no clue because I get looped at communion. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have no clue either, I drink wine but almost no hard liquor. Why do you want to replace it with hard liquor and not a great bottle of wine? :)

The first thing I thought of when I saw the title to your post was...

"Rough Day??"

I'm just teasing though!:p

I have no idea however. Sorry.

You may want to consider what type of mixed drinks they usually like.

If it was white wine, you may want to go with something like vodka (Kettle One or Grey Goose are premiums) or rum (Bicardi is decent).

If it was red wine you may want to go with a scotch (Glen Fiddich or MacAllam would be ok) or bourbon (Maker's Mark is a good choice).

If you really don't want to do wine, here are my favorites...

For raspberry lovers, try Chambord - it has a beautiful bottle. It is very good in sprite or 7 up, and also mixes into many other fruity drinks and gives them a nice flavor. It is great in margaritas.

I also love Amaretto or Frangelico (almond and hazelnut flavored, respectively) and they mix nicely with tonic or cream.

If your friend likes peppermint, Rumple Mintz is very good.

That's what I have tried and like!

Oooooh, Maker's Mark! Great stuff, and I don't drink the hard stuff. But I love that with water.

There are some great Polish Vodka's out there. I just bought one as a gift (sorry forget the name) but the bottle was so beautiful.

Grey Goose now comes in flavors, very pretty bottles.

No idea what your friend orders when they go out? Seems like most people stick with one or two hard liquors they usually drink. Vodka and Rum though are pretty safe bets! Being winter you could do a recipe for a Hot Buttered Rum attached to a bottle of rum?!~

I'd go with Kahlua or Bailey's unless you know for sure that they are vodka or rum drinkers. If so, then I would get Grey Goose or Ketel One.

DEFINITELY!!! Grey Goose

It even has a cork stopper, like the wine you borrowed.

Why are you replacing a bottle of wine with a bottle of hard liquor? If the folks had a wine rack - they may prefer wine. There are a lot of people who just don't do hard liquor.

However, I would recommend something simple if you do buy liquor. Something that "everyone" might enjoy, like Malibu Rum (great with OJ). It would be risky to go out and buy a bottle of Jack Daniel's for instance...

I'm another one you'd laugh at. Two drinks is all I can handle. lol

Anyway, I like rum, and canadian club. Have you thought of maybe something like Creme de Cocoa? It's really good with icecream or hot chocolate.

I'm going to try some of these suggestions. :)

For vodka drinkers Belevdere is a premium brand(same price range as Grey Goose). For liquer, a bottle of Bailey's is always nice.

Willy, I'll have a scotch, rocks with a twist.

Oh wait this isn't Sat. chat. sorry.
