But saying goodbye to her today and heading back to Pittsburgh (5 hours away) is frightening to me, no matter how much I've tried to prepare myself.

Her dorm was wonderful, carpeted and air conditioned, we liked her roommate immediately, & they hit it off right away.
I'm just hoping that she is very very happy here, that will make it easier on me.

We'll take her out to lunch today, and then head back home around 2. I'm trying to be very brave. Wish me Luck.

I'm glad to hear the move went so smoothly Ranatra, and especially that DD and her roommate clicked right away!

((( Hugs ))) to you to help you put on a brave face!

Is that your DD in the pic with you? If so, she's almost as pretty as her Mom! :)

{{{hugs}}}

I am sending you some bravery pixie dust, Ranatra! I'm sure she will be fine and will love college and dorm life, but I understand how you feel. Hopefully she will set your fears to rest after you get used to the idea of her being away.

I imagine sending your child off to college is a very emotional experience. Glad to hear she hit it off so well with her roommate, that is very important. {{{HUGS}}} for you as you transition through another rite of passage with your daughter.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

Glad to hear that the move went well.

Heres a great big hug Rana. Its tough on moms to take their babies to school. I'm so glad she and her roommate got along. Thats half the battle right there.

Believe me, I know exactly what you're going through. I was so sad when sending my son back and he's a Senior in college!!!:(

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

Sounds like you're doing well! :) And sounds like a good start for her... Carpeted and AC Dorms??? LUCKY!! Brings back memories of when my parents left me at Umass the first day... :) I cried a bit, and they cried...but it was fine. Just the Next Chapter of life. :)

Good luck to you, and to your daughter in her college career!

Awwww. {{{{Hugs}}}} and good luck to you and to your DD this year! It's wonderful that she hit it off with her roomate right away. i'm sure that helps put your mind at ease. :)

{{{HUGS}}} Ranatra it's never easy to let go.

Hugs, I think knowing she is not there upset makes things better. I hope she enjoys her time there, hugs to you too....

{{{{Hugs}}}} I'm sure it's tougher for the parents than it is for the kid (if that helps any!) :)

Here's a big {HUG} for you Ranatra.
I don't know how your going to keep all that inside, really.

I'll be doing that in a few years, DS already knows I'll be teary eyed to say the least.
I think it's one of those "moments" when mothers are allowed to cry...like when they get married, have a child of their own.

I do think college is the hardest though. I Hope she likes it, then you can feel at ease. I dread the day.

{{{HUGS}}} I'm still several years from that and can't imagine them moving away. :(

more bravery dust for you Ranatra!!

Oh how i remember...one of the hardest things i ever did. When dropping off my son....I made it the whole weekend without shedding a tear.....as soon as we left and was out of his sight I BURST into tears and cried almost continually for the next week :(

and he was only 45 minutes away :rolleyes:

then he came on on Thanksgiving :rolleyes: and brought all his laundry :rolleyes: ALL of it :mad:

college life...eventually "I" adjusted :teeth: you will too ;)

I've got 2 DS in college, one a Senior and one a Sophomore (500 miles away!). With both of them, I thought I'd cry when they went away as freshmen, but surprisingly I didn't. But sophomore year-Oh, Boy, did I! I guess that freshman year there was so much to worry about new that I didn't have time to cry. But everyone's different-I've got a friend who cried for a month when DS went off to college every time she went by his bedroom.

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie. You will be fine :)

For some strange reason sending my son off to a dorm never made me cry, but when he drove away from here to start his first job in Houston, I bawled my eyes out :rolleyes:

{{Hugs}}, Sandi. Know the feeling well. Know well that Bernadette will do just fine, and will miss you too.
