ack i dont want to. i like my house. i dont want to go to college. lol.

tell me everything is going to be okay. please?

Oh, boy do I remember that feeling. I know it's scary, but in 10 years, you'll probably look back on dorm life with nostalgia!! You will make friends, you will laugh until you cry, you will just plain old cry, you will eat too much pizza, you'll get into some trouble, and you will have a blast! Enjoy it. Everything is going to be just fine.

And...don't panic if you are very lonely and hate it at first. Most everyone does. It doesn't mean that things won't get better! :grouphug:

My biggest problem with my first dorm was the bathroom issue. I don't know what I thought....but, I never expected there to be one bathroom for 20 people. No privacy at all! So, I dealt with it until I could move into a different dorm with single bathrooms. We had 3 on our floor and about 12 people. MUCH better. You could go in and shut the door and do your business. :teeth:

I wanted to go home at first - mainly because of the bathroom thing - but, once you make friends and start classes and get involved, you won't want to be anywhere else.

Good luck! Study hard! :teacher:

im staying in a quad that has a bathroom. i guess that takes care of that.

Yep, it will be fine. Change is often scary, but college is great. You will adjust and make friends and next year....you'll be saying, "I can't wait to get back to the dorms!"

Have fun! Study hard!

Why are you moving in so late? Most of the kids moved in early August! Was just wondering. Good luck to ya! :goodvibes

I LOVED dorm life! I lived in a dorm for three years in college, plus two summers at a National Park. Honestly - great fun!

Everything is going to be great. :goodvibes You are going to be happier for this experience. :) As soon as you get moved in and settled, you will feel much better then. ;)

I moved in 3 weeks ago. Dorm life is so much fun. There are always movie nights in different rooms, and toilet paper wars, and hall socials going on. Seriously, we've had so much fun. I'm home for my first weekend now, and to be honest, it's wierd being home. It's wierd sitting at the table with my mom and sister, instead of a huge group of friends from the dorm. My floormates and I eat so many meals together. My RA is AWESOME!!! He does such a great job with everything, and is like a big brother to all of us. Seriously, dorm life is great! I was wicked nervous too, and yeah, not every moment is fun (you do have to study sometimes, you will get sick, and you will argue with your roommates) but overall it's not that bad. I'm in a quad, and our room has quickly turned into the hangout zone. So has the quad next door. There are always people in the room, and it's great. We had a big get together earlier this week to watch the Gilmore Girls and pig out on the brownies and cookies one of the girls had gotten in a care package from home.
Remember, everyone else is nervous too. Trust me on that. You'll make friends, and you'll have fun.

When you get there, jump in with both feet. I mean, join a club or two to make friends. College was one of the BEST times of my life! Dh and I still go back every year for Homecoming to march with the Alumni Band and see people. We graduated 17 and 18 years ago!

Ohio state starts late and gets out late. Good luck, DS just graduated from OSU this past June. You will have a blast. GO BUCKS!!

Everything will be ok! College is a lot of fun, sometimes too much fun. Sometimes so much fun that you're there for the better part of the decade. So don't be me. Study hard and have fun! Just relaxxxx!

I never went away to college, but just wanted to offer advice on what I do have experience with. I have dealt with the other side of it. My DD went away to school. It is hard to adjust at first. I agree with the others, to get involved and just relax. You will be just fine.

What are you going to study??

I loved living in the dorms. There was always something going on and someone to talk to, and so many new people to meet. I actually miss it sometimes.

So, you'd rather live with your parents? :confused3 You'll have a great time, don't sweat it!

Where are you going??? JW cause I moved in to my apartment and I've been in school over a month already. Anyway, good luck with everything - I was sooo scared last year and then again this year when I transferred. But you'll make friends!

You'll love it! In a week you won't remember that you were dreading moving into a dorm.

BTW, if you are going to Ohio State, they have a really good Food Science Department.

Good luck to you!

Is it that time already? Wow....how exciting!! What college are you going to?

I was nervous too before I left home for NYC, where I went school (NYU)...after a few weeks I couldn't remember what it was like to live at home. You are going to have a blast. Plus you always have us to lean on!

Good luck honey!! We'll be thinking of you!

You must go back really late in OHIO. My neighbor hasn't left yet for Ohio State. I couldn't believe he was still home when he came over to borrow a tool. When do you get out in the Spring? Late Summer?

I hope you enjoy college life. The experience is all what YOU make it!
