I made my sil mad

some back ground this sil is not a good person, she has charges pending for fraud and not the first time, none of like her and are afraid that she will steal our ID again, yes again. now I'm only saying this b/c my niece has had a horrible time with her and she doesn't like sil at all and refuses to go to their house but we can have her anytime we want ...any way we had christmas at my house - when we were ready to fix plates sil started making my kid's plates all my kids are teens and it was my step kids she started with grrrr they like to make their own plates
she then told her step daughter (13) that she couldn't make her own plate ..now she has small kids and choose to make the teens plates first

I stepped in and told sil that the teens could make their plates and the little kids the moms need to make their plates first, welllll that made her very mad at me and refused to eat...I didn't mean to make her mad but I did,...

I don't understand the big deal? I mean she is 13 why can't she make her own plate and then on top of that why would anyone knowing that the rest of the family doesn't like you do something like that to other peoples kids and at their house???

plus she kinda took over and told everyone else how they were going to things without giving me a chance to see how I wanted to do things ...also that is not how we have ever done things when it comes to a get togethers and she has been in our family long enough to know that...

it just bugged me very much that she would do this

anyone else feel the same???

My 8 year old makes her own plate and has been for at least a couple years. SIL is a dolt.

My kids are 19 and 18 (she just turned 18 today ) and it drives me NUTS that there are still times when DH wants to make their plates for them. I just don't, "get it." Baked potatoes drive me the craziest because he peels the skin off the potatoes for them, then butters them up and stuff like that. For 1, they're old enough to do their own potatoes, but 2, why would anyone peel a baked potato anyway? He's always peeled them and I've always thought him weird.

In your case, I think the SIL is really CRAZY. While it drives me crazy that my husband does this from time to time, he doesn't get angry when I say, why don't you let them get their own? Then to make a scene about it over Christmas dinner is just totally unacceptable behavior, IMO.

I have thought about it and really think she has a problem with step kids b/c as you can read she did it to the step kids in the family...I mean my niece refuses to go her dads b/c of her (I have seen some of the things she has done to her,,YIKES) ...anyway my step kids didn't say much they were being nice but I could see their faces when I said something to her and it told me everything ..

But what I don't get is why did she not make her little ones plates first and then insisted that the teens not be able to make their own??? oh well I guess I'll never know

My nieces mom lets us pick her up anytime we want but if she doesn't want to go to her dads then she doesn't have too.. I'll put it like this WE pick my niece up for all major holidays NOT my bro and she can stay the night with us if we want ..this is so sad b/c my bro won't do anything about the way sil treats her
If I did half the things she did my step kids would HATE my guts...

I found out that my other bro made her mad too...he didn't mean too..he was joking with her about eating too much as she was fixing her dh's plate (my other bro) and she didn't like that one bit....I know he shouldn't have joked with her about that but that is just him he does it to everyone...
