I love credit cards so much!

And when I went to Alaska in August with my mom she had major swelling in one leg. I was worried because my csr coverage only covered my immediate family. She got back to Michigan and ended up in the hospital with blood clots in her lungs (probably from the flight to Vancouver). If I were to cruise again with her, I would have separate coverage for her but use csr for me and my kids.
Oh no, that's scary :( Hope all was okay.

(Although they only gave me a $5k CL so I know I have met my limit with them unless I slash my CSR CL)

Congrats - but don't assume you have hit your limit with Chase. They gave me a $5k limit for the SW Biz, but the next day I got a SW Priority with $22k limit.

I have heard of a few people only getting $5k for the Biz, so maybe that is just something they do with that card.

She was in the hospital for almost a week (second time in a year for blood clots) right after her 75th birthday. She was fortunate because she had a trip to Italy scheduled (make up for one she missed the previous year because of a hurricane) and the doctor did clear her for travel. She felt lousy for several days on that trip. Another six months on blood thinners. It is scary though. I want her to be around for a long time:)

And the last time she cruised with us she ended up with strep and bronchitis and almost had to reschedule knee replacement surgery. I’m thinking she probably won’t want to cruise with us again!

Yeah a friend of mine had to fly home from the Bahamas with her parents after her mom fell. Her dh and kids stayed onboard (over Thanksgiving).

Parts of the CSR coverage includes parents as "immediate family". You're right, the medical part does not though. Do you happen to know if the emergency evacuation does? That section doesn't seem to define immediate family.

Do people think 100K is enough for medical evacuation? I have no idea how much these things cost. When I buy coverage, I like the ones that cover up to 1 million, because in my head, it can't possibly cost more than that?

This sentence in the CSR coverage worries me "The evacuation must be pre-approved by the Benefit Administrator in consultation with a legally licensed Physician". In an emergency, am I really going to have the presence of mind to get it pre-approved?

SW Biz approval this morning! party:
CONGRATULATIONS :cheer2:

P2's Sw Biz app was approved last night. Whoop! I see a Companion Pass in my future. Now off to Jury Duty.
Congratulations!!:cheer2:

I know not everyone shares the same opinion, but I still really value UR and the portal, I continue to find decent (sometimes amazing) deals for our particular needs.
I am not looking for Disney at this point so not having Disney doesn't impact me (still sad for those it does impact). I have found some good values on the portal for travel I am doing.

According to chase, it’s the cardholder, their spouse or partner, and dependent children. I don’t know about your other question but that’s a good one!

Ha, yep! I got $5k on my Biz, got denied for personal, tweaked some stuff then got instant approval with $22800 credit line! After they denied me for having too much available credit.

Honestly it’s probably more than 100k. We had a patient at the hospital I work at and the family paid out of pocket over 30k for a week every week for over a year!!! I’m thinking an international flight etc would be more than 100k. I’m going with just husband and kiddos but if other (elderly) family was going would def get extra coverage

Average according to squaremouth in North America is $25k.

@Alexle2007 , I'm a bit behind but how are you making out with deciding on Grand Cayman? I have a reservation for both the Ritz and Marriott this spring. I was leaning toward Ritz but after the few posts here I'm wondering if that's a bad idea. Don't want to pay $130 for nachos!

When I spoke to the fraud department yesterday regarding the unauthorized charge on my CSR the representative asked me if I had personally opened the account. I thought it an odd question but considering dh has several cc in his wallet and he has never personally applied for any of them I better just keep my mouth shut and not comment on it in any way, other than to say, "Yes I personally opened the account."

Has anyone else had this question asked of them before?

I ended up canceling and getting my 240k points returned to me. I was going to have a hard time justifying $24 for a cocktail to DH. So the search for summer vacation is still on...We've been going to Punta Cana so I was trying to branch out.

Yes, I got that question when I called last week about fraud on my CSR. The representative said he had a list of questions he had to ask me :-)

I’ll probably going to finish the MSR on my SW personal card today. I got it at the end of November. And I’d like to apply now for the SW biz. I haven’t lowered any credit limits but kind of just want to give it a try today. What’s the worst that happens if I’m denied today - I then lower credit limits and apply again in 30 days? Any other negatives to getting a denial?
And if I decide to lower credit limits first, wouldn’t I have to wait 30 days to apply anyway, so the lower limits are reported?

I'm looking into applying for another card (or two) in the near future. I used to be somewhat active on this thread and always read it and am also a member of the reddit thread to see referrals and other discussions. This past summer I got a promotion at work (good thing), but it left MUCH less time to research travel hacking and keep up with this thread (bad thing). Anyway, I'm feeling much more comfortable in my new role and have more time to keep up, so I've spent the past few days reading about the past 45 pages or so - this thread moves fast!!

Anyway, here's my situation:

Me:
10/16 - Chase Ink Business - changed to CIC in 12/17 - still open
1/3/17 - CSR (still open)
3/31/17 - CSP - closed 4/9/18
8/27/17 - Citi TY Premier (still open) - probably should have closed, but missed the window
8/28/17 - AmEx Business Gold Rewards - closed 9/18
8/2/18 - AmEx - Biz Green Card - opened to move MR points from above card so I wouldn't have to pay annual fee

DH:
10/13/16 - CSR (still open)
3/6/17 - SW Premier - closed
3/6/17 - SW Plus - closed (opened both to get CP for 2017/2018)
8/4/17 - Citi TY Premier (still open) - again probably should have closed, but still have all the points from initial bonus
5/1/18 - Chase Ink Business Preferred

DH and I both have a "business", but I don't mind trying for business cards - and have had luck so far when I've tried.

I was originally thinking of trying to get the SW business and SW Personal for myself to get the CP for the rest of this year and next, but i"m not sure how much we'd use it. We only used DH's CP 3 times in the 2 years that we had it, but we are running low on SW points (keep flying our kids places) and we will probably fly domestically more these next two years than the past 2, but that's still up in the air a bit.

I was also thinking of having DH refer me for the Chase Ink Business Preferred card so I could get the 80,000 and he would get whatever referral credit is available.

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do both though because that would leave me we three Chase Business cards unless I closed the CIC.

This summer we will probably be taking a cruise somewhere, but everything is so up in the air - our oldest graduates from college, so will hopefully have a job somewhere and middle is hoping to have an internship somewhere, so it's difficult to make any plans. I don't want to exclude them if possible, but not sure we'll all be able to go together for a full week this year :sad1:.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or comments? Thanks!

My limits always update immediately. You might want to wait a day or two to be sure, but you wouldn't need to wait 30 days for Chase to see what overall credit limits you have with them.

Same here - DH got approved for the SW Biz with a $5k limit and then the next month he got the personal with a $24k limit!

Yes to both as far as I know.

If you apply today, you will also have that pull to your credit/additional enquiry, whereas if you waited you wouldn’t have this one, then another if you reapply.

I normally don’t answer on that type of stuff though, so someone may come along and correct me!
