I love credit cards so much!

You can turn them into hotel points (Hyatt/Marriott) if you don't want to use them for air travel. Just one option of course. Oh, and that AF isn't all that bad, especially since you can get $100 back on dining on the first 3 months. So if you eat out a lot that will make the AF more palatable I think.

I thought you could only transfer UR's to Hyatt, not MR's. I hope to start dabbling in MR's this year so I'm trying to keep it all straight as far as what transfers where. I may also look at a Hilton card to use at Tokyo Disney.

Another big fan of Hyatt mco. We’ve stayed there thrice. For our trip next month, we’re trying out the Hyatt place.
And another vote for MCO. Granted it’s been 10 years but we stayed there the night before and after our first cruise. We loved it. Very nice hotel, super cool having the balcony looking into the airport, food, shopping, whats not to love? LOL

I could definitely eventually use the MRs. We'd like to go to UAE in 2021, so I could/should start accumulating now for flights for that. And the $100 back on dining definitely makes it a good deal! I'm going to sit down and put together my thoughts on CCs over the next few months and get some opinions...

I think I have my 2019 plan finally. I’m at 4/24 until March when I have a card drop off. I have two chase business cards and last applied for CIU in November. So I think I’ll go for sw business then figure out how to get companion pass with a personal card. Once I’ve taken care of those two I’ll go for Amex platinum—if I time it right I’ll try to triple dip. I don’t see it as a keeper card for me. Will also be putting some spending on my spg biz and lux to try to keep Amex happy.

You might be right. We moved a bunch of points to both Marriott and Hyatt recently, so now I may be confused. I'm sorry if I posted incorrect info. I definitely don't want to do that. It's complicated enough as it is.

I might be wrong about Hyatt. Our best use for MRs has been travel abroad, flights in particular. You get 20% back on dining (and for me GCs worked when I bought them at the restaurants themselves) up to $100. That plus the $10/mo at Cheesecake Factory, etc. and the 4x points on most dining made it a card both DH decided to get.

Mom's going to talk with our agent tomorrow. We use an agent that sells multiple companies so she can get their opinion on whether to use it or not. She used it last year when she backed into the garage door so she may not want to do a claim if it'll make the insurance go up a ton. The house is paid off so she saves money throughout the year from her various retirement stuff to pay it and the taxes. They didn't require anyone to come out and look at the garage and we have photo's so hopefully that'll be enough.
I would be wary of any claims or even talking to an agent. It all goes on your “record”. I called once about a possible claim then didn’t file. 2 years later it was brought up as an issue when I was considering changing companies because it was on my record. Then 7 years ago, our house flooded, we made a claim. 3 years later, it flooded again, made a second claim. A year after second claim, we sold that house and bought a new one. We were denied insurance by multiple companies for 2 claims in 5 years. Only 2 companies would insure the house we bought. One was the company we were insured by for the flooded house, and they wanted a huge increase, essentially double, for the new house even though it never flooded. The claims stay with the insured, not the property. We ended up with MetLife because they were cheaper, though we still carry a higher rate until the second claim drops off after 5 years.

Shoot, I forgot that $10/mo was only at limited places... we would never be able to use that. Hmmm I need to think more.

She won't be talking with the actual insurance co. The agent we use sells several different companies so they'll be able to answer her questions without contacting the insurance co. We're aware that just asking can cause rate hikes, but since the ins co won't know unless a claim is done there shouldn't be an issue.

Also, I do think the claims stay with the house as well as the person that made the claim. It was brought up when I first insured my house in NC that there had been a roof claim years before from hurricane damage. That had nothing to do with me but was still there as something that had been done with the house. I would think due to the 2 flood claims on your house the next person to insure it had to pay a higher rate because of the likeliness the ins co would see that it happens again.

So I just learned on GrubHub you can do pick up to save the delivery fee. Tons of local places are in my area (but I’m MetroBoston so not sure what you have). Our local pizza place is on there so I can pick up and get the $10 credit. Where it says “delivery” on the top bar click “change” then there will be a tab for pick up.

Btw I love this card. A keeper for sure!!!!!

Ooh! I didn't know about the pickup option. Thanks!

Guys, the Disneyland price increases have hit not just APs, but one-day and multi-day tickets too: https://wdwnt.com/2019/01/breaking-...ases-ahead-of-star-wars-galaxys-edge-opening/

LMT Club still has multi-day tickets discounted at the old prices. Might want to lock in discounts on the old pricing if you're planning a trip sometime this year. And remember, LMT Club codes as travel for 3x UR on CSR and CIP, 2x UR on CSP.

Well crap. We have a trip scheduled in July but nt sure if we're actually going. Not sure whether to go ahead and buy tix or not... Thanks for posting about LMT.

Not sure where @speedyfishy goes but I think multiple stores. I’m not sure Kroger will work. Walmart you have to use Metabanks. S+S all seem to work. I’d try a small amount at Publix if they do money orders. Should be at customer service desk

I thought Kroger worked? I haven't had luck so far but I'm hoping it's user error.

When you say Metabanks how do you know that it's Metabank? Is it a Visa or something else? Does the card say Metabank somewhere on it?

Ok, thoughts for the next few months... need advice on if this sounds feasible. As a reminder, here are my cards...

Me
9/17- CSP (now CFU)
10/17- CF
1/18- Marriott Biz
5/18- CIP
5/18- Hilton Biz
8/18- Citi AA Biz
8/18- SPG Biz
11/18- CIU

DH
5/17- Amazon
2/18- CIP
5/18- CIC
1/19- CSP

Chase Personal cards- I think I'm officially done with Chase Personal cards, so my only remaining personal card options would be for DH. I really don't know what Chase personal cards I would get for him. I could pick him up a personal Marriott, but then that excludes him from SPG personal, right? We don't have a Hyatt card, we've never stayed at a Hyatt. Thoughts?

Chase Business cards- So I'm planning to close my Marriott Biz since I also have SPG Biz and that has better earning opportunities. Then I need to decide if I want to keep my CIP or DH's CIP. I could close my Marriott Biz and CIP and then go for a CIC as a technically 4th Chase business card. Or I could close DH's CIP and go for a CIU for him (probably more feasible).

Amex Personal- Only one on my immediate radar (as in, in the next three days) is the Amex Gold. None on the radar for DH right now until he finishes up with Chase.

Amex Business- Will eventually need to pick up SPG Biz and Hilton Biz cards for DH.

Citi- Start churning biz cards. Going to get DH a biz card soon while I have some expenses I can put on it to knock out the MSR quickly.

Sorry, I know this is a lot of info! Right now I'm leaning towards cancelling my Marriott Biz as soon as the free night posts, picking up an Amex Gold, and starting my journey into Amex personal cards and Citi cards. I'll get DH a CIU on April 1 and then I can map out Amex plans for him from there.
