Thanks for the link. We are still debating here. Nothing planned for early 2019, so it's probably not worth the risk. But the discussion continues.
You’re not missing anythingI'm enjoying the reddit discussion, BTW. Can't participate, but still learning.
You’re not missing anythingBasically the community we have here on this thread is similar to what r/churning was back in 2015 (except here is WAY better)
That’s where I landed. Nothing planned in the next few months so no reason to bother. Thanks for the link. We are still debating here. Nothing planned for early 2019, so it's probably not worth the risk. But the discussion continues.
...to use Chase UR points to book the flights but their Expedia platform is about as palatable as a turd flavored lozenge...
I will ask my dd. I believe she was just told it couldn’t be a visa MasterCard Amex type card that Target pays fees on. My dd has her own Red Card so she has been using that or mine depending on whose stuff she is buying. I will ask her or read her handbook to see if it says
Ok, this is all making more sense now. I couldn't fathom why they would require her to get a Red card for the discount...I have the same understanding as @elgerber . I checked with my nephew over the summer when he started working there and he confirmed he could still use GC's; didn't want to buy one if they had changed it. You just couldn't use a non-Target card to pay for the Target GC to get around the rules. But if you went to Lowe's and got one discounted, that's different
I checked the Help section on the site and I think it's been updated but includes more options. Like I don't remember seeing before that you could use a prepaid card; from help.target.com
"Payment must be made with one of the following in order to apply your team member discount: Target Debit Card™, Target™ Mastercard®, Target Credit Card™, Target GiftCard™, OptumHealth Bank HSA Debit card, Target Paycard (select credit at checkout), co-branded prepaid cards (Visa/American Express/Mastercard), EBT and food stamp cards. You cannot use non-Target debit/cash cards or credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express. It is not acceptable for you to purchase Target GiftCards® with a non-Target debit/cash card or credit card for the purpose of working around these restrictions."
I would love to cash out a crap-ton of MRs via this method...and once again I’m happy I didn’t attempt it and get screwed lol!Totally saw that coming.
Wow! TBH there isn't much difference in the two cards. It's just a slightly different colour. I have to look at the number to be sure I'm using the correct one.
But they need to send it...
I upgraded around August 20 and got a letter last week that the new Lux card is finally on its way. I will believe it when I see it.
Cheers to not having a crap ton of HH points instead MRs! We take a lot of gambles in this game so congrats on knowing when NOT to take the chance. (Yes, yes, you’re much more Cost Benefit Analysis capable than most of us but I still think we should celebrate all our wins. Not making the worst point trade of the year is a win!)I would love to cash out a crap-ton of MRs via this method...and once again I’m happy I didn’t attempt it and get screwed lol!
I gave Amex some leeway when they got swamped with the Rose Gold apps but that excuse is solidly dead at this point. Even my father trying to get his Gold DL card was 3-4 weeks! And they don’t extend the deadline to meet the spend... if I wasn’t such an optimist I’d think they are doing this on purpose...I got an email today that my new Lux Card is on its way. Like kmc8826, I’ll believe it when I see it.
Thank you - and yeah, it really wasn't even a hard choice. I'm not risking that...but hypothetically in my head it sounds tempting (no real life urges were felt however).Cheers to not having a crap ton of HH points instead MRs! ETA: unlike this poor soul who transferred 100k MRs and missed it https://www.doctorofcredit.com/hilt...mazon-pathetic-0-2¢-per-point/#comment-679366
