I love credit cards so much!

Thanks for the link. We are still debating here. Nothing planned for early 2019, so it's probably not worth the risk. But the discussion continues.

So I'm not sure what's up with that guy and the Hyatt upgrade. If you check his profile it's a newish account, less than 2 months, and all he's been doing is posting places that he can get you upgraded. :confused3 Saw him a couple times in the r/churning Discussion thread doing it the other week.

Could be it's a totally legit sneaky marketing gig to get people enrolled in the status challenges and this meets his quota? I don't know. Feels shady but like everyone said, it's just the number so not sure what they can do with that if they don't have access to any other information about the account.

You’re not missing anything :) Basically the community we have here on this thread is similar to what r/churning was back in 2015 (except here is WAY better)

Yes, I'm so thankful that the good stuff gets posted over here, without all the drama I hear about. I think I have zero karma since I don't really post over there, and I'm ok with that.

Well I can thank all's y'alls for my next trip to New York which is now taking place before the planned trip I had for next August. Our lovely community here made me aware of the Mickey True Original Exhibition after I posted about getting Hamilton tickets for NYC. I happened to mention the exhibition during our Dapper Days weekend to our group of friends and we came across someone who had visited the exhibition as well. Before we knew it we were planning a weekend in NYC for the Exhibition. DH and I each used a free Marriott night certificate to book the Residence Inn at Central Park which is a 35K/night property. I was going to use Chase UR points to book the flights but their Expedia platform is about as palatable as a turd flavored lozenge. Instead, I used MR points and look forward to getting 1.54 value now that I have an Amex business Plat card again.

Hilton-Amazon dead again. At this point I think someone working for one of those companies just likes cashing out their HH points via Amazon. Fingers crossed my order goes through...
ETA: lasted about 4 hours from the post in DoC it was live again

I will ask my dd. I believe she was just told it couldn’t be a visa MasterCard Amex type card that Target pays fees on. My dd has her own Red Card so she has been using that or mine depending on whose stuff she is buying. I will ask her or read her handbook to see if it says

My dd didn't receive a handbook, and since she is just seasonal, it seems hard to get any questions answered. Thanks for asking your dd!

I have the same understanding as @elgerber . I checked with my nephew over the summer when he started working there and he confirmed he could still use GC's; didn't want to buy one if they had changed it. You just couldn't use a non-Target card to pay for the Target GC to get around the rules. But if you went to Lowe's and got one discounted, that's different :)

I checked the Help section on the site and I think it's been updated but includes more options. Like I don't remember seeing before that you could use a prepaid card; from help.target.com

"Payment must be made with one of the following in order to apply your team member discount: Target Debit Card™, Target™ Mastercard®, Target Credit Card™, Target GiftCard™, OptumHealth Bank HSA Debit card, Target Paycard (select credit at checkout), co-branded prepaid cards (Visa/American Express/Mastercard), EBT and food stamp cards. You cannot use non-Target debit/cash cards or credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express. It is not acceptable for you to purchase Target GiftCards® with a non-Target debit/cash card or credit card for the purpose of working around these restrictions."
Ok, this is all making more sense now. I couldn't fathom why they would require her to get a Red card for the discount...

So, I could use whatever card I want to buy the discounted Target GC's on the 10% off sale, and then we can use those whenever we use our 20% off coupon and her 10% TM discount? Or I shouldn't even do that and just get the Target GC's at Lowe's?

Also, I thought Target TM's used to get their 10% off on Disney GC's but I guess they changed that?? It was one of the first purchases I tried lol! Got my Red card 5% but no employee discount.

Wow! TBH there isn't much difference in the two cards. It's just a slightly different colour. I have to look at the number to be sure I'm using the correct one.

But they need to send it...

I upgraded around August 20 and got a letter last week that the new Lux card is finally on its way. I will believe it when I see it.

I got an email today that my new Lux Card is on its way. Like kmc8826, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I would love to cash out a crap-ton of MRs via this method...and once again I’m happy I didn’t attempt it and get screwed lol!
Cheers to not having a crap ton of HH points instead MRs! We take a lot of gambles in this game so congrats on knowing when NOT to take the chance. (Yes, yes, you’re much more Cost Benefit Analysis capable than most of us but I still think we should celebrate all our wins. Not making the worst point trade of the year is a win!)

ETA: unlike this poor soul who transferred 100k MRs and missed it https://www.doctorofcredit.com/hilt...mazon-pathetic-0-2¢-per-point/#comment-679366

I gave Amex some leeway when they got swamped with the Rose Gold apps but that excuse is solidly dead at this point. Even my father trying to get his Gold DL card was 3-4 weeks! And they don’t extend the deadline to meet the spend... if I wasn’t such an optimist I’d think they are doing this on purpose...

Seeing reports of orders HH-Amazon orders being cancelled. C’est la vie :( I’m safe so far but my optimism has dropped a lot since orders weren’t cancelled last time.

ETA: this DoC user had their MRs charged instead despite specifically selecting HH points. Ouch!! They seem to have gotten caught right when the redemption was reverting to its normal level. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/hilt...mazon-pathetic-0-2¢-per-point/#comment-679426

Thank you - and yeah, it really wasn't even a hard choice. I'm not risking that...but hypothetically in my head it sounds tempting (no real life urges were felt however).

...and WOW to the poor DoC commenter...

I just spent 98,666 UR points to get 4 5-day park hoppers for DLR this December. Man, it hurts to give up that many URs at once! :faint: I only have 35k left. :guilty: It saved us around $1300 dollars, though.

Now to see just exactly how crowded it's going to be at New Years.:teacher::crowded:
