I love credit cards so much!

Seriously? Wow. Well actually I get it. We are close to San Francisco and haven't done most of the touristy stuff there (and I grew up here, too). I have made it to the Disney museum though. :) I toured Philadelphia last year when my DH was there on business - there is so much to see and do and so much history to learn there. I'm happy to get to go back. (Plus the lounge at PHL is really nice :rolleyes1). Now I have to figure out what to see and do in NYC. I've been there a few times in the last few years but didn't have much opportunity to sightsee. I haven't toured as a tourist there since I was a kid.

And which lounge might that be??

Timely news for you, maybe. I'm not totally familiar with the Optima card (other than it's discontinued, right?) but AmEx just released referrals from cards not normally in the referral program. (Like the Ameriprise charge cards) Saw someone mention it on r/churning this morning and DoC has followed up with a post : https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amer...ing-schwab-ameriprise-obc-etc-with-100-bonus/

Might be worth checking out your Optima card and see if it'll let you generate a link. You'd get $100 plus the AmEx card you want :)

Not seeing the ability to refer from my MB Plat. (I guess I'll have to wait until the MB Plat converts to a vanilla Plat.)

May is a nice time of year to visit NYC...so much to do...great weather to walk the highline, take a neighborhood foodtour, Central Park, 911 museum...etc etc.....we live hour away without traffic..but since there usually is traffic on the LIE ...we take the train in

The highline and Central Park are both on my list. My DD has walked the highline and said it was nice. I also want to get to the Met. We do like museums, but last time we went to the Natural History one. So much to see there (I've been to the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, etc.) And I know I'll also have to look at places to eat. That's part of the fun.

And which lounge might that be??

Ah, the AMEX Centurion lounge. :cloud9: Great food and very relaxing atmosphere. We were there the week they opened, and my DD pops in there every time she flies home on break. I like it better than the one near us at SFO.

Haha. I'm gonna guess the Centurion Lounge.

Good guess. :rotfl:

We rarely fly anything but coach domestically, so those lounges really come in handy. We are booked on Jet Blue Mint this time, but I don't think they have a lounge. And I hear that JB is too far from the Centurion at SFO to make use of it, so at least I'll get a lounge on the way home.

Well our wdw trip is officially over. We went three times this year and I’m sad to say Dh and I both agreed we might need a long break from wdw. Very crowded and people were extremely rude. We were stressed for most of the trip instead of being relaxed. We both said today we can’t wait to actually get home and relax. We are looking into Phoenix as our next trip before Japan.

I applied my DW for the Barclay's AA Biz card tonight, and she got instant approval! And I finally got an e-mail for mine. 120K AA miles, here we come! Now to wait for the cards and put some purchases on them. I figure I'll use them for smaller non-bonus category purchases for a while so Barclay's doesn't flag us for not using the cards.
Awesome!!! Glad u went for it!!!

Don’t forget a show!! I’ve always had good luck with txts booth and if you have kids I highly recommend School of Rock. My kids were enthralled!

Think I’m going to have DH open a zero balance transfer card. We did some pretty big Home improvements and took out a HELOC but currently have it sitting on a zero interest FUL (that got 3x URs!). We shy away from that card because of the high balance so I feel like we are missing out on more earning potential. It will be up in April so instead of paying it off I we may float it for another year (we have the cash in savings or could tap into our HELOC if needed).

I’m looking at AMEX everyday - with my referral i think we’d get 20KMR bonus. My other thought is Discover It. No sign up incentive but def more cashback if used right. Thoughts?

That’s too bas. Dhs coworker just got back and said the same thing. Said Halloween party was Wall to Wall people and just not enjoyable

Well, Twitter to the rescue once again! After receiving three email replies from Uber customer service that clearly demonstrated the customer service rep was not understanding my concern or how to address it, my pointed Twitter posts tagging Uber and Uber Support voicing my disappointment over the policy change, its lack of communication and it costing me my Oct. Amex credits (and suggesting it might be time to give some business to Lyft) yielded some results. I was invited to send a PM, which I did, explaining my situation and how I was caught up in this policy change and would not have another opportunity to utilize my Oct. Amex credits. I just received an updated trip receipt from Uber indicating that my base fare is being refunded to my credit card and showing it taken out of my Uber Cash (which included my Amex credits). Now just to make sure the refund actually happens (or I will be disputing that charge with Chase!) and that on Thurs. morning my Uber Cash balance is $15 higher to reflect my Nov. credits (and to make sure they used the Oct. Amex credit and not just my gift card balance). Cautiously optimistic this was done correctly.

Good point...I haven’t kept up with what’s on Broadway...last show we saw was Jersey Boys.....we also love going to the Radio City Christmas show.

Never done it (I’m in Boston but my sister lives in Yonkers). She said it’s fabulous but I refuse to pay full price! Def on bucket list. If you have kids you can see School of Rock pretty cheaply now since it’s not that new. Most of the cast are 10-13 year old incredibly talented kids (sing, dance, and play an instrument). It was so fun!! Oh and I’m a hockey mom of 2 also!!!!!

Oh no so sorry to hear that......we went in October for about 10 years after our kids graduated HS...and this year switch to the last week of September...it was super hot but otherwise we had a great time

The Halloween parties weren’t crazy busy actually. We were told to go to mk before a party to ride rides but it was so busy the day we went. I’ve read in so many places to follow that strategy but it just didn’t work for us. I wrote a whole trip report and just posted it on the theme parks forum.

That’s okay. It is what it is. Honestly the crowds weren’t too bad it was just all of the other experiences we had. We heard so many screaming children and parents yelling at them. It was just sad.

There were so many kids screaming to go home or back to the hotel room.
