Oh dear god lol.
The funniest part is, during their trip my sister was posting on FB the usual lovely family pics, iconic Greek attractions, yummy looking food, etc. Looked like such a perfect vacation. Until they got back and my sister said the kids were miserable brats the whole time. She said they would walk to get ice cream and 5 minutes after leaving their rented castle, the kids would complain they were tired and couldn’t walk anymore. :sad2:

When my son was 2 and I was pregnant with my daughter..we went to Disney with my in-laws.....dating myself ...but it was in 1990 when Universal opened..my DH and his mom, dad and brother went there one day...so it was just my son and I at MK...I let him pick the rides..we went on it’s a small world...a lot and...watched..Minnies surprise birthday party show for Mickey many times..super relaxing day I still remember
Haha see that sounds fun! I bet he had a blast.

Wow they sound kind of spoiled. But there might be another side to the story from the kids? My niece was such a trooper when we took her to Disney in March. She isn’t used to a lot of exercise but she did so well with the walking. Her mom was a different story.

Guess where we are headed to for Thanksgiving thanks to SW and super cheap flights! That's right, Orlando but to the dark sides. I don't why I was checking with this morning but when I checked the low fare calendar I saw flights to MCO from BWI for $96 on Tues and Wed before Thanksgiving and then late Sat night. 24k points later, $400 for 3 nights at the Renaissance SeaWorld, SeaWorld tickets on that daily whatever site in May and probably a rental. DH mentioned the Universal AP extra month deal going on so I think I'll be purchasing APs for there also. I was missing having Uni APs. If we do add on Uni, I might change our Wed night to PBR or RPR since we like being onsite. I still need to figure out what I am doing Tues night/early Wed morning since our flight does land until 12:50 am. I was thinking maybe we would just stay at the Hyatt at the airport rather than having to pick up the rental and drive to a hotel. So excited! This will keep me out of the stores for BF. Any thoughts on what the crowds might be like a SeaWorld or Uni? Oh, I did pay the $20 per ticket for EBCI for the 3 of us given that's Thanksgiving travel time and the tickets were paid with 24k RR and CP. So excited! DH was just asking the other day what we were doing for the holiday and now we have a plan!

Thanksgiving flights have been weird this year. My charleston flights keep going down. I just got more points back today. It is great!

Have fun at Uni!

Someone linked to this story from USA Today on Reddit today. Tough read, but reality sucks sometimes. https://www.usatoday.com/story/trav...esorts-tripadvisor-sexual-assault/1816675002/ My take away from it was don't tell people your actual check-out date, apparently that leaves you more likely to be attacked on your last day in country as people leaving a country don't want to be delayed so are less like to pursue justice of any form. My other take away was heck no to Jamaica. And yet I'm traveling to South Africa which has the same level of state department warning so idk how much of my 2nd take away I am actually taking to heart. Yikes! I guess thats why they say not to go outside the secure port gates. :scared: Too bad really. It is such a beautiful island.

SW bus approval! Only took 1 day this time, so super happy about that. Now need to get going on cancelling the personal card, one of my longer cards that I love, so will be ready to reapply in about 1 month...

GE is stilling pending conditional approval and I'm not so patiently waiting.

Lol he did at 2...when I mention it now..he’s like..what was I thinking....it’s a small world...:rotfl:
Haha but it sounds like such a fun memory! My mom begged us to go on it’s a small world on our first trip. I was 10 and my brother was 14 so of course we didn’t want to go on. Now I HAVE to go on it every trip and send her a picture.

Like many kids their age, they often prefer tech to spending time with their parent. My DS would be watching tv or using an iPad all day if I let him. Although on vacation, the iPod stays in the room usually.

Oh Chase, what's going on with you?

Email from "Chase Sapphire Reserve"
Subject "More travel options to choose from"

If we really have truth in advertising laws they should make them add "sorta" at the end.

From the body: "
ENHANCED SEARCH & BOOKING EXPERIENCE
More travel options, better fare transparency and no hidden fees

"
So I can see all the stuff I was missing out on before, but still miss out on it and know about it now. Yippee.

and "
50% MORE IN TRAVEL REDEMPTION
Points are worth more when you redeem for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards®*
"
The asterisk should really read "kinda, assuming Expedia didn't add more fees to it thus raising the price from anywhere else you could have booked this. In which case points could be worth less than cashing out. YMMV. GL."
:worship: You should consider tweeting this entire post.

Oh wow, this reminds me when my 2 year old son and I spent the day at MK. My husband was at a conference. I just went with what my son wanted to do. We saw the Country Bears 3 times in a row, and rode the train a couple of times. It was one of the best days ever. That was 18 years go.

Yeah our niece doesn’t have a phone (she’s 10) and no tablet or iPad to play on. We played a lot of 20 questions and Ispy. We always found things to occupy the time.

When my kids were younger they were both early birds and did well with little sleep. We would go back midday for naps, but the only people napping was us LOL. Still the same, we nap, they don’t (they are 22 and 25) and I have to drag them up at dawn to rope drop, but it still works.

Really dating myself now...but went on it’s a small world at the NY worlds fair in 1964....

Meanwhile the parents were either yelling or thinking, "Do you know how much it cost to bring you to Disney?!"

Yep. And the never ending increase in prices is clearly not bringing out the best in people.

Dh and I have already discussed that when we have kids they will be mostly in charge of what we do. We haven’t decided what age we will start taking them but if they point out something that looks fun, that’s where we will go. Even if it means going to a playground for an hour.

We were lucky and had a 2 yo who never melted down and screamed so we had a blast with her at wdw. I still made sure she got enough sleep every single day. The right age depends on the child, their temperament and their ability to deal with tiring days. I’d just wait and see.

Wow. They do sound very difficult. I know it’s a tough age. And this is the issue with social media - very little of what is posted is real yet it makes others feel like their family is the only one who isn’t happy 100% of the time.

Well our wdw trip is officially over. We went three times this year and I’m sad to say Dh and I both agreed we might need a long break from wdw. Very crowded and people were extremely rude. We were stressed for most of the trip instead of being relaxed. We both said today we can’t wait to actually get home and relax. We are looking into Phoenix as our next trip before Japan.

Thats exactly how it was last Oct and I then wrote off oct trips for the future. DD19 and I had a great experience in August though. I think the key is avoid fall breaks, spring breaks, Christmas break/New Years, and 4th of July week, Jersey week, 3 day weekends :crazy2::rolleyes:...at least thats my plan going forward.

I’m now scared to have kids... when I did take my sister to Disney she complained about the walking and even the fastpass lines were too much for her :rolleyes1 I thought that was a teenage thing but I guess kids just always complain. We did go a little hard since we were only there two days. I feel bad now I should have let her pick and if she wanted to go back to the room I should have taken her back.
