I love credit cards so much!

Dh and I went to see First Man tonight since it just came out. It was okay, but pretty slow and boring at parts. I didn't know going into it that it was more about Neil Armstrong's life than the actual moon landing. There actually was very little footage of them in space. I would've really liked to see his space training and their journey to the moon, but that part was super short and boring. On the positive side, I saw trailers for a lot of movies that looked good that I hadn't seen before AND I got to let Dh experience reclining seats for the first time lol. I took the kids I babysit on Monday to see Smallfoot and we all experienced reclining chairs for the first time. They cost the same price, too! These seats are new at our theater so we were super excited. One of the boys said, "This is going to be the best day ever" lol

:offtopic:

In this episode of tell me how to live my life... DCL. We are heading to WDW in July of next year. DH has been adamant for years that he would never do a cruise. Suddenly, he's open to the idea of a land and sea vacation.

:scared1: Me, casually looking up the price of a 4 day DCL cruise.

We have never, ever cruised before. From what j can tell, DCL is at least double if not more than other cruises. Is the Disney difference worth it? Is the land and sea worth it? Maybe we should just extend and spend a few days at the beach?

Of course, I would do some wheeling and dealing to negate the cost of the cruise with CC rewards, GC discounts, Swagbucks, etc. But then again, I could channel that energy into a 'nicer' WDW trip.

We looked at doing a cruise for this month back in March and ended up going with just a WDW trip. We just couldn't justify the cost of DCL.

I got this promo on one account. I can't believe this, but we do not have 1 MC between the 2 of us! Any ideas for where to get the cheapest $500 MCGC? I know that Kroger and CVS have them and I can check Simon mall on my trip to the outlets. Can you buy a MCGC with a Kroger gift card? Just trying to keep the cost as low as possible as well as the number of payments. I had so much trouble the last time I paid my DD's rent with Plastiq. Not sure how they would handle lots of $200 checks!

My Kroger store doesn't let me buy the prepaid cards with a Kroger card, and the terms of the offer specify that prepaid cards are not eligible. It would be tight timing to apply for a MC now in order to set up Plastiq payments since it needs to be done within 21 days. But the good ones to use for this would be the Arrival+ or Citi Double Cash. If you have another Citi card that you're not really using, you could see if Citi would PC it to a Double Cash. But I don't know your x/24 status and what plans you have for Chase, so that should be considered too.

Heads up @speedyfishy, @SBWB48, @linzjane88, @MrPTato, @Albort, @platamama and other WM MSers: New policy going in effect to log SSN for MO purchases over $1k.

This is the second mention I've seen about a policy change coming to WM MOs. Both mention a $1k MO threshold and effective date of 10/16. The earlier post mentioned ID, not SSN.

ETA found the earlier post: Starting next Tuesday, WM will require ID to buy more than $1k in MO.

Thanks for the heads up! Looks like I'll be making trips to WM tomorrow and over the weekend to convert the VGCs I have into MOs. I did convert over $10K into MOs last month for my contractor, so now I'm not as chicken as I used to be. The contractor charges 3% for credit card payments; my MS'ing was more like 1.3% and I was meeting MSRs so it worked out.

I'd love to be a DP for if Costco is coding 5x on the CF but my dh went today and dropped a hefty sum, and even though I updated his stickies, he used the Citi Costco card :scared: I still love him and all but not real happy with him atm. As a wife, I don't ask much, I'm not high maintenance, I'm not naggy, I'm loving, a great cook and I take good care of his children. All I ask in return is that he use the right card at the right place. Is that asking too much :rolleyes2

LOL. I texted my DH the COLOR of the card and the last 5 DIGITS of the card to use for a Marriott gift card since I'd loaded the AMEX offer onto it. He still managed to use the wrong card. :sad2: It was IN WRITING on his phone.

My Costco trip on 10/6 coded 5x.

Do you go to AMC? Have you seen the coca-cola offers for the popcorn and soda?

Can't wait to see First Man this weekend. I saw A Star is Born last week and that movie blew me away.

We are officially flying home for the weekend instead of driving! In on United for 10k pts each, cash price $220ea. Back on SW for 7600 RRs and CP, cash price $116

Me: through the Chase portal URs are worth 1.5 cents each, but by transferring them to United I got 2.1 cents each!
DH: well done, you are very impressive
Me: you have no idea what that means, do you
DH: no
Me: ok, if I booked through the Chase portal it would have cost around 29k points, but by transferring them to my United account it only cost 20k points
DH:  you saved 9k points!

Y'all...is it that time yet? Should I apply for my SW Biz card?

I applied for the CIP around 6/20/18...was approved on or around 7/11/18. I'm safe as far as timing my apps goes, right? And it looks like 90 days from now would be January 9th, so plenty of time to finish the MSR in the New Year, especially if I actually have 115 days. Then I'll apply in-flight at Christmas for whatever personal card has a 50k offer and meet that spend in Jan.

Tell me if I should jump! (You do always say to check in before applying for new cards!)

Do it do it do it!

I (*ahem* DH) applied today and got the 2 week message. Here's to hoping!

Nope we go to Marcus Theaters. They have free member cards that give you $5 Tuesdays with free popcorn. They also have $6 Thursdays for "students" and if you buy a small pop you can use your card to get free refills.

First Man was probably just not my type of movie. I typically like animated movies or fantasy/sci-fi. I REALLY liked Venom, though. Smallfoot wasn't the best, but the music was super cute.

You two are making me worry. My 2 year old also has ear and hearing problems and is on her second set of ear tubes. She's always been a champ on planes, no crying. Could this change when her tubes fall out?

My now 10 year old had 2 set of tubes plus her adenoids out and has never had trouble with her ears on planes. When she was really little I would nurse or give her the pacifier, as she got older time to eat with gum or candy. Other daughter had one set of tubes (still one in). Also no problems with planes. I have always been way proactive when arriving and landing pressure changes; I don’t know if that is a factor. At any rate try not to borrow trouble. I am sure it will be fine. :)

We're on a similar timeline - I got the CIP on 6/26/18 and was planning on applying for the SW Biz in a couple weeks. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. Good luck!

AMEX SUPPORT LINKS UPDATE

A week or so ago I mentioned that I had a discussion with somebody who indicated that these new "Go Bananas" support links (i.e. links for every card) would expire after a period of time. A link I created last week still has not expired and I now think this person did not know what they are talking about.

Thus, do not be afraid to post links to all card on DISchurners if you so choose. My previous statement still applies that if the links eventually expire and we have people with 29 expired links over there we may remove those comments and instruct those users to be more active in updating their links. :)

I keep reading here about Swagbucks so I checked it out. Are you all doing the "watch videos for points" or the "get points for shopping" thing? Or both? Is there some sort of Swagbucks 101 someone can point me to so I can see if it's something I might want to try?
