I love credit cards so much!

Let's put some numbers on those cards. CSR (50k), CIP (80k), CIU (50k), CIC (50k), CF (15k), CFU (15k). If you're willing to dabble in Chase business cards, that's 260k UR in signup bonuses, at least 16k UR more from MSR, and at least 30k UR from referring P2, who can go through the same slate and get another 260k UR in signup bonuses and 16k UR from spend. That's a total of ~582k UR in 2-Player mode.

:) You just layed out my 2 years plan with Chase...since May my husband and I have opened 2 CIP and 1 CSR for 244k UR..once they all post.

Trying to decide if P2 should apply for the CIC or CSP the end of this month

With the rate and suddenness that Chase has been implementing these anti-churning changes, I’d seriously consider how much you can speed up your timeline while still staying within budget and your acceptable risk tolerance.

Yup, bye bye Chase. I’ll MS on their cards until they shut me down, I really love my URs for Disney trips, but with all this DVC talk I should just redeem MRs for cash and buy DVC.

Do recommend. They say churning is good for free/discounted travel, so we did it to help purchase many, many years of discounted travel.

So DH did the double dip in July. Met both MSRs in August. Still no bonus points. Do you think it's because of the double? I wasn't concerned before, but I am now.

That 100k Platinum offer is looking awfully appealing now, huh?

It sure is. And you know I've been thinking about this one...

If my concern before was at a 2 on a scale of 1 - 10 it's risen to a 4...I still think we'll be ok on that. Time will tell though...

I’ve been putting the suggested 3 months between applications...don’t want to risk my relationships with Chase since the SW CP and using RR to fly really saves us a lot..there aren’t any other airlines that fly direct to MCO out of our small local airport. If we wind up missing out on some due to changes...I’ll just regroup and come here for more advice

I'm about to crap my pants. I'm on hold with Virgin Atlantic since they spelled Dh's name wrong. The guy told me with this kind of booking they can't make a name change.... Are you kidding me?! After all this crap and now they're saying my husband's name is going to be spelled wrong?! They better fix this or idk what I'm going to do...
I just went through something similar to this with SW. the only way the agent could correct a first or last name misspelling was to cancel my flight, refund my taxes and rebook the flight. (DH and I both had our 1st name misspelled despite booking online.) Then when the agent corrected DH’s, his middle initial was incorrect. For the middle initial, she could correct without having to rebook everything. The other option she gave me was to wait and have it corrected when I checked in since they can manually correct. Um, no. We had an early flight and I wasn’t going to trying to correct last minute. Hope you have better results!

In the future, you could always buy VGCs and have the vet run the charges on Visa.

My kid's pediatrician doesn't accept Amex just as I'm working on SPG Lux and Biz Plat MSRs, so I handed over a VGC the other day.
This is stuff I never think of. I did get the $200 VGC at Staples last week (still have 10% off Amex offer plus $7 RMN)
Wish I’d been paying attention earlier in the week, could have done it more than once. I can use at Costco but never consider vet, where my dog gets $70 per month in prescription dog food. No Amex and now I have the $5k spend for SPG Lux.

As my love for Chase continues to dwindle with the likely death of the DD, my love for Amex continues to grow...the $300 credit from the LUX just posted following my purchase of a $300 giftcard at a local Courtyard. So that's $360 back for $300 in future spend; granted I lump the $300 as money gone from the AF, but the $60 is kind of nice :)

This was our first foray into Chase cards, and I have to say at this point we are both unimpressed. :sad2: If they don't post the points after we gave them all that spend I'll be pretty mad.

I think we'll stick with AMEX since it's worked well for us so far.

Double dipping was not really part of my strategy, although I might have attempted it in 3+ years for DH, lol. But the first comment in the bullet list above confuses me. Why couldn't that person get both the CSP and a United co-branded card?

I believe the OP was trying to double dip at 4/24, effectively using his one last slot for 2 cards, because even one of those cards would put him at 5/24, and ineligible for the second card.

Ok. That makes sense. Should have figured that out. I've got a migraine coming on and it is clearly making me stupid this afternoon, lol!

RE: Death of Double Dip
I shared thoughts on the situation here on r/churning: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c...doubledip_what_it_means_for_churners/e5v33n4/

Basically saying this has minimal affect on experienced churners...

Unfortunately we have a VERY different demographic here than on r/churning. We have a lot more SLOW churners, a lot more people actively remaining under 5/24 and a lot of newer folks. I'm very sorry that this will affect your plans moving forward. That said...the $8k MSR was very high...and given the current rules you can still get CIP, CIU, CIC, CF, CFU in addition to CSR so there are a TON of UR earning opportunities out there!

Thanks for trying to make us "slow churners" feel better. I'm really wishing I had got into this game a few years ago. Just seems like everything's getting more difficult now. Although I know there's still lots of good opportunities to earn points. I just wish my DH would get onboard, it would help a lot! And I wish Nov 2nd would hurry and get here! That's when I plan on applying for the CIP.

Welp, that sucks about the Chase Sapphire DD being dead.... I'm a newbie on the churning journey, and am about halfway done with my MSR on the CIP (opened less than a month).

I was planning to do the DD 11/18, should I just do the CSR, and refer P2 to CIP 2/18?

For reference, I'm at 1/24 with the CIP, P2 is still at 0/24.

Also - my Chase CIP account doesn't have a statement close date yet (says it is "undefined")... there's a due date listed though... is that normal?

Not just the CSR/CSP double dip is dead...they are saying that ALL double dips may be dead.

CIP date is normal since you haven't had a statement yet.

I'd weigh the CSR vs. the CSP and figure out which one is better for you. In most cases the CSR is the better card. And I'd continue on the plan just without the double dip. After the 2nd CIP maybe consider looking at CIC and CIU next :)

You could refer to a CSR for Player 2 quickly...but I'd try to wait that out a year. No sense in having two CSRs now. Refer player 2 in month 11 of yours and that's even better!

Everybody has their preferences. I've had extensive experience with Chase, BofA, Citi, and AMEX. AMEX and Chase are decidedly the two best out there IMO. I prefer Chase because their points work for my travel preferences better. Plus AMEX has once per lifetime rules which are way worse than Chase's 24 month and 48 month rules. Some would say 5/24 is very restrictive with Chase but with this new AMEX popup stuff...that's even worse, AMEX won't even explain what you have to do or not do to be eligible for their cards going forward.

All that said, it's a very strange churning world we operate in now. I think I'm ready to embrace SLOW churner mode.
