I love credit cards so much!

Okay so how do I transfer miles from my Chase UR account to Virgin? Can I do it while on the phone with Virgin?

When I transfer points to SW ...I went into my UR dashboard and selected ..transfer to travel partners...I had to add my SW RR info...then selected the number of points to transfer

I've never done a transfer to Virgin, but assume it works similarly to United. Go to the Ultimate Rewards page of the card that has the points you want to transfer. There should be a tab across the top of the Rewards Home site that says Transfer to Travel Partners. Click that and your saved travel partners should pop us as options. If you haven't saved Virgin as a travel partner yet, hopefully it will give you the option to do so. I can't see that screen since United automatically pops up as my saved travel partner.
I found out how to transfer them to Virgin, but I'm just a little nervous and I'm not sure how many points to transfer. The flights would cost 180,000 without taxes and fees. We have 201,000. How many should we transfer?

On United's site it says $91.42 in taxes and fees.

Looking for my next Business Card. Just finished up spend on my Barclay Arrival + and made a purchase on my Barclay AAdvantage Card. Still waiting on DH's Barclay AAdvantage Card. He will need to call them tonight to see if they received all the documentation we sent them. But that is a single purchase. Almost done with spend on my AMEX Gold Premier - but not sure I will get bonus on that anyway.

Thinking of starting the AA Miles Cards. Since it is a MC I can easily make the spend by 2 months of Mortgage Payments. Is the best public offer right 70,000 Points or is there one with a statement credit also out there? Figure I can alternate DH and I on these if we can get some mailers after.

Any other recommendations for other cards. I am at 5/24 but will go 4/24 in November - going to try and get another CIP so don't want to add to cards. Also holding out for SW Cards again but that won't be until Mid- 2019. If they don't change the terms on those. Running low on SW Points.

DH is at 4/24 but going to do CIP #2 for him also. But need to wait until we have more spend probably when Tuition is due in January.

So if there wasn't enough Hilton offers, there are incognito offers for the HHonors no fee and Ascend cards now. I couldn't pull it up but others have. And like any AmEx special offer like this, if you pull it up, don't let it go; you might not get it again. So maybe don't look until you're ready?

That no fee is kinda tempting (which is why I admittedly tried a couple times casually when it was posted, hehe). I haven't put much thought into it, but I heard Hilton is easy to transfer points to pool them, is that so? I don't have a need for Hilton points just yet but if they keep upping the offers it might become compelling and ideally I'd like to just pool them into hubby's existing account eventually.

If it works like United, you won't be able to use Virgin miles to cover taxes and fees. Those will need to paid in cash (credit card). So just transfer the miles you will need for the awards themselves. I always transfer just the bare minimum I need because I want to leave as many UR as possible in my Chase account since they have greater flexibility there. I wouldn't do the transfer until you are on the phone with a Virgin rep who has confirmed that the awards are available and he/she can grab them for you.

Okay thank you! That was exactly what I needed to know. I've been sick the last couple of days and can't really hear much because I have drainage in my ears. I was hoping Dh could call when he gets home (he's traveling), but he isn't answering his phone and I want to book them right away lol. I've waited so long and I don't want them to be gone.

So sorry you are sick. Totally understand wanting DH to call since you can't hear that well, but I wouldn't wait too long. I'd advise calling yourself to grab those awards while they are still available. Maybe turn the volume way up on your phone???

VS lets you hold award tickets for 24 hours, so I would call VS’s Flying Club line with the flights you want to book to hold them while you get your points in place. See @Calfan’s reply above for transferring UR to VS miles.

Only other concern is I already have 2 Chase biz cards (CIP and CIC), so I'm hoping they will approve a 3rd.

P2 has 3 Chase biz and I've seen lots of DPs for 4. I think you are good.

The Citi AA Biz 70k/$4k public offer is the best available. Other biz cards - is the Hilton biz still showing an elevated offer on dummy booking? The website isn't loading for me right now for some reason so I can't check. Also other Amex biz cards - Blue for Business Plus (great for not having to worry about expiring MRs since it doesn't have an AF), BGR 50k/$5k or 75k/$5k or $10k, Biz Plat 100k/$10k, BoA Biz Cash ($200 after $500), Barclays JetBlue? We could go way down this rabbit hole - FNBO Best Western? Actually, upon further review, BW Biz has been discontinued.

If you haven't already linked your virgin account as a transfer partner - do that first. It isn't always instant so you want to be sure that link is setup before you get on the phone.

Call Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club line at 1-800-365-9500 with the exact flights you want to book. They’ll be able to tell you exactly how many points you need. Then transfer only what you need.

I'd like to know how the Hilton pooing works too. I went for the Aspire in my own name since we already have an existing Hilton ressie on my account that I didn't want to have to undo if I got DH the Aspire, and I wanted the Diamond status on my account. But if his Hilton points can be pooled into my HiltonHonors account, I'd be tempted to get him the no fee for 100K bonus. I currently have the no fee since I downgraded my Ascend to it when the AF came due. I assume that would bar me from getting a bonus on the no fee (plus I don't want to burn another 5/24 slot)? I'd also be tempted by the 150K on the Ascend for DH, but I don't want to add another $3K to the $9K MSR I just acquired yesterday....

Super great offers, but Amex is making it hard. Like I want to sign up for these every time they go up, but Amex is known for not matching offers, and what if next week they go up again another 25k, you know?

@Haley R, this is really good advice. I can't remember whether there was lag time and how much when I set up my United MileagePlus account as a Chase transfer partner because it's been a few years. No harm in setting Virgin Atlantic up as a travel partner ASAP even if you don't end up transferring. It will really help that Virgin will hold award flights for 24 hours....

You’re killing me with your kindness, Amex!

Hilton Honors points are super easy to pool. Hilton members can transfer a maximum of 500,000 points per calendar year, and receive up to 2 million points a year, no fee.

I called and couldn't understand a word the guy was saying because of his accent. He was also talking extremely fast. I was looking on United's website and it was showing availability for an award flight with ANA. He said he was getting a response from ANA that there were no available flights for the dates I gave him. I'm honestly really confused and I really couldn't understand what he was saying so that didn't make it any easier. He mentioned something about expertflyer, but again I really couldn't understand him.

Great to know on the pooling with Hilton. Now the question is whether that sign-up bonus on the no fee will go up to 150K like the other two. Seems kind of unlikely for a non-premium/fee card, but given my flurry of activity yesterday, I think I'll sit on this one for awhile and see what happens...

Just checked. $100 credit + 125K for $3k spend ($95 AF) with a dummy booking on the Hilton site.

I had a similar problem understanding through the accent when I called Virgin a number of weeks ago about award flights on Delta to/from Africa. You can always HUCA and hope you get an agent with a more subtle accent. And don't be shy about asking him/her to slow down when speaking. Do you not have enough UR to transfer to United and book the ANA flights from there since they are showing available on the UA site? I get that it might cost more points/miles, but if you have them and the awards are available, it might be worth biting the bullet and snagging them while they are there for the taking.

Nope I don't have enough to get them on United. It would cost 300,000 miles through United and only 180,000 through Virgin (if I'm understanding this correctly). I'm probably just going to have to have Dh call when he gets home.
