Doh! I missed a call from Delta CS on my cell. That Twitter guy really got things moving! I am one of those people who never answers my phone if I don't know who is calling, and I'm not used to getting calls from Atlanta. She left a message saying she would email me. And I will definitely answer an Atlanta number if she tries my cell again!

Here is the text of the email I just received from Delta CS:

"Thanks for contacting us regarding your flight from Boise. I tried to contact you via phone with no success and wanted to respond as quickly as possible. I can understand your frustration and disappointment when we had lengthy delay and not knowing if your flight was going to depart. I'm happy you made it safely to your destination, even though you had to purchase new tickets on a different airline to get there.

As our customer, you are in the best position to point out areas that need attention. I realize your disappointment when our Delta flight operated by Sky West Airline DL 4480 had a mechanical related issue and you were not giving information on if the flight was going to even leave Boise. Please know that we strive to get our passengers to their destination at the original schedule times. However, sometimes things don’t go as planned. In this case, we dropped the ball. I understand with nonrefundable Universal Studio tickets, you had no choice but to purchase new tickets. For that I am sorry!

In this instance, you did not receive the service you expected and should have received, I can only imagine your frustration. While there are many things about airport operations that are not within our control, what we can own, is how we handle these situations when they arise. Like you, I too believe our customers should receive proactive and precautionary service when we have situations like yours. Feedback like yours will help us improve our process and customer experience. Please know I will be sharing your comments with the appropriate leadership team for internal follow up.

Looking at your tickets I see you have received a refund of the for tickets purchased on Delta. Please know that I would have to respectfully decline your request of refunding the cost of the Southwest tickets, as we do not cover other airlines ticket cost. However, as a goodwill gesture, I’m sending a $75 Delta Choice gift for each of the passengers. You will receive a Delta Choice gift code, from delta@deltachoices.com in a separate email within three business days and you can select the gift card of your choice within 60 days of receipt.

Included in the gift option are several merchants that you will be familiar with as well as our Delta gift cards. Once redeemed, the gift cards have no expiration and may be used by anyone you wish. You will want to add this email address to your list of accepted addresses. Our Delta Choice gift code email will include a customer ID and instructions on how to redeem the gift. Please check your spam folder if you don’t see the email in your inbox.

Laura, as a SkyMiles member and an important part of the Delta family, we appreciate our relationship with you. We look forward to providing the service you deserve on your next flight.

Regards,"

I'm actually pretty satisfied with this. I did not realistically expect Delta to make us whole for the last-minute Southwest flights we bought since it was our choice to switch carriers and the original Delta flight did eventually (8+ hours later) go. If it had never gone, I would be much more of a bulldog about trying to get the full amount of the incremental cost of the SW tickets covered. We'll see what the merchant options are on these gifts, but getting $300 worth of something makes me feel a little better. Hopefully there will be something other than Delta gift cards that is attractive since I really do intend to steer clear of Delta from here on out. For the same reason, I'm actually glad she didn't offer Delta miles. 10,500 United miles each I will certainly put to good use. Delta miles not so much.

I was 43 when DS was born.

You win :)

It wasn't saying "3 seats left" on the flight. That means there are 3 seats left at that price :) Somebody must've booked those 3 seats and so now they've moved up to the next fare bucket and there are a lot of seats available at that price :)
My flight went up after I booked by $15/tix.

I think you got a good deal. We got $100 each from them but its in the form of a Delta credit and it expires in a year. I'd much rather have something to pick from and doesn't expire. Hopefully there is something of use to you on the Delta Choice site.

DH didn't know about SPG Lux until it came yesterday.

"What is this envelope, it has my name on it, can I open it?"

I like that he asked "can I open it?" :lmao:Got his name on it and everything, still not sure if he's allowed to have it!

I booked a Marriott Room under DH's account, I can't add my name to the reservation and now he can't go. Do I need to call in to have them add my name? or can I just show up?

It's all going to depend on hotel. To be sure I'd call and get your name added to the reservation, that way you for sure can check in. Some hotels are sticklers and others don't care. I did stay once on hubby's reservation without him when work changed his plans. I'm not sure if we added my name or just risked it. Since the member is supposed to stay in the room to get the nights/points, at check in when they asked if he'd be joining me I said he was coming in separate. Which wasn't totally a lie, he was supposed to meet me the next day but things went long and he never got away so I checked out without him too. Everything stuck.

Mind blown! This is my gift card rack at Best Buy:

I haven't seen Amazon at Best Buy in years. They definitely weren't there a few months ago, which I'm sad to say was the last time I was there. This could be old news for some folks, but I was shocked to finally see them back. May have to grab some while the Swagbucks deal is still going.

So they release a certain number of WGA seats at a set price and then they change the price? So, if you see "x seats left" you know the price is going to change soon? Does it always go up when you see that?

In my experience with SW yes the price goes up after those x number of seats are sold....if you want to know how much just search for x +1 Seats

Thank you... I just called and added my name, they said they made a note to let me check in without him. Woohoo!!

Yes your correct...when you have a room booked..magically :) at 60 days out your able to book fast passes

Thanks! I must have just never paid attention to it in the past. Fingers crossed for Slinky Dog Dash... Looks like nobody is getting ToT and RnRC anymore. I looked at 30 days out earlier and there were early morning times available for ToT. Fine with me because I could ride that all day long!

Yep - @palhockeymomof2 is correct :)

Also - if they only have 2 seats left at a price and you try to buy 4 at once they will sell all 4 at the higher price. This is one (of many) reasons why people book all SW flights one at a time.

Another thread I hang out on at the DIS is the "Post all SW concerns" thread. I feel I have a certain level of SW expertise to share there :) I know I see some of you over there from time to time too.

At any rate, I feel bad when these releases come out and I see people unsure what to do with paying cash for flights. Do they book, do they wait, WGA fares aren't available at their desired time, etc. It makes me realize how blessed I am to have lots of SW points and just book whatever and then continue to wait and see if the situation improves. AND even if the flights are expensive it only uses my points, not actual money out of my pocket. This game is soooo good to us sometimes :)
My strategy was to book the lower fare with cash and the higher fare with points. Figured the higher one could go down and I could easily get a refund of the points. If the cash one drops...I will just have travel funds that we have and may/may not use it. Not the end of the world if we lose $30 per person which would be the lowest I would think it could go.

They have amazon,Best Buy, gap, Nike, a few restaurants. I got these a few weeks ago for a delayed delta flight. They never seem to be on time for me.

Great to know. Thanks! Amazon will definitely work for us since I've been using Amazon gcs to buy Albertsons gcs for our grocery purchases. I've been buying the Amazon gift cards with 5x UR earning ccs, but *free* also works!

Glad you were able to get some resolution. It has been years since we got the Delta Choice gift, but at the time we were able to choose Amazon for only one of them and then I got Macy's for the remainder. Ended up with a Dyson vacuum cleaner from Macy's with the gift cards!

We had a similar situation last spring break when they cancelled our flight and rebooked us 3 days later. We ended up canceling the flights and flying JetBlue to Orlando and then driving the 8 hours home. They refunded our flights and gave us each 20K Skymiles, so the gift is probably better.

Nope, that pool is creepy! Boardwalk is beautiful and I love the (cheap seats) garden view...but don't swim when I'm there.

It's worse in real life, I think...it's like a creepy clown monster waiting to eat happy children. Thanks, Stephen King :sad1:

SAME - I am truly terrified of clowns (I have a few theories why, from fictional and real experiences), and although I have a goal of staying at each of the resorts once, I think BW might have to be for an adult-only (pool free) weekend for F&W or F&G... I just can't!

@MrPTato I am definitely biased since we own at BCV, but I would definitely stay there with a 4 year old for the pool. Stormalong Bay is amazing! I think it is the best resort for a pool day. We stayed at BW this past summer and I love the Boardwalk area, but the clown pool is alittle creepy and not as big as the one at BC. Be sure and get ice cream at Ample Hills!

Is there any reason NOT to get an employee card for DH for my Amex Hilton biz?

Also when I confirmed the card it let me enroll it with my existing login.
