I love credit cards so much!

Sounds like such a great trip! And agreed on Universal... it's so expensive! I'm probably going to buy from UCT, but I have absolutely no need for that one day free ticket since we'll be driving back our last day. I don't know what the expiration looks like on those tickets, wonder how long it's good for.
My understanding is all days have to be used within 7 days of first use :( I really wished it was 14 days like Disney because we could have made one ticket work to include Volcano Bay over Labor Day weekend (if we do that, we should really decide!)

You have to call... I need to attach mine too. I have a Cat1-5 too, I’m attaching it to a Cat5, which will stay at Cat5 in the new program. Fingers crossed that I will be able to transfer it to a different Cat5 in the future.

I just wanted to make sure you realize an old cat 5 and a new cat 5 aren’t the same. So you def want that cert attached to the hotel if it is currently a cat 5, ASAP. Because if it is going to be a new cat 5, that means itnis going up in points and there is a very good chance (although we don’t technically know exactly how the certs will map) that you wouldn’t be able to attach it after whatever the magic date is now (8/18?). I am concerned you won’t be able to transfer it to a diff cat 5 post magic date because of the same...new cat 5 is higher points.

This is my problem as well. I’m not sure what cat to upgrade my cert to so that I can attach it to a SPG hotel post magic date. I’m not sure why they don’t just release the mapping info. Super frustrating.

So I am eyeing some hotels that are new cat 6. Soooo what do I upgrade to? Current cat 9 or would a cat 8 suffice? Will I even make it to these hotels or will that be a waste of points in the end? Who knows. lol. Whatever, I got my SW points and that was the important part.

Do you know what the limit for gift cards per day or transaction is at Lowe's? I remember a big discussion when the offer first came out on DoC but can't remember the upshot other than a lot of people bought $800 or $900 worth of gc but only some were activated. I'd like to avoid that aggravation if I can since I need to use my 3 Lowe's offers in the next 3 months.

I did one $500 plus some other purchases (we bought a new barbecue) last weekend at Lowe’s and it was fine. Our nearest in person Staples is about an hour away so when I use those will try to cash out deal in one trip. Hopefully that isn’t an issue.

Holy cow this is a tough thread to keep up with!

We have had a Disney Rewards Visa for years. It has served us well. I recently got the CSP...now my husband thinks I may have become obsessed with ways to earn more points. It's like a game! I'm thinking of having him apply for the CSP/CSR double dip. I travel more frequently so really I would like to have the CSR in my name for the Priority Club benefit.

I'm probably thinking to far ahead but can we rent a car using the CSR in my name if my husband is the driver?

My husband and I have both kept our CSR’s for the benefits you mentioned (rental cars, priority pass etc). The only tie I have seen it be an issue with car rentals is when I have done Alamo and their Fast Break system. That is where you check in online and then can go straight to cars with no need to stop at rental counter. There, when I have reserved the car with him as the driver then it is his card with his name that has to be entered. And then when you take the car they check the matching driver’s license and credit card.

Ways to earn more points is definitely an obsession. My poor husband doesn’t think that he knows it about me now. At least it is a bit of a change from as Disney obsessed. :)

Deciding between the Marriott Biz and the CIU? I have the Marriott personal and SPG Biz so I am thinking since this is my last chance for the Marriott Biz for an extended period that is the better option. But the URs are so versatile. Thoughts?

Check your phone bill for Chase’s number and find the date and time?
It's weird, I swear I called for one card then the other, but I only see one time that I called that number in my phone history.

ETA: oh man, the biz line is probably different...

What a pain. Login to one account, get number, find number in call history, log out, log in to other account, find number, find in history, verify I have the right day, send SM...

I was able to be way productive with the Amex offers yesterday. Got 4 $25 gift cards at Buy Buy Baby (on 4 different Amex’s), then went to Bed Bath and Beyond and did the same thing. I don’t know who posted it but my gosh about it but the smell in Buy Buy Baby was a little dangerous. It was definitely a quick as possible trip! We then navigated traffic and used the Best Buy offer on one (I had already used it on the other card we had it on). It must be love as DH drove me around while i ran into the stores and did it all. That, and he is happy to have me home. The checkers at the stores did not card that it was multiple transactions using different cards.

I also got an email a week or two ago to link the Skymiles account with Lyft. I did it and noticed this morning got 40 points for the ride back to DCA on Lyft. 40 points not much but I guess every little bit helps especially since used Freedom and not Amex card.

Thanks...that would decrease my trips to Lowe's to 6 :rolleyes2

Ours is too so I've been thinking about trying to buy online. I remember Staples reports L3 so wasn't sure if that was an issue if I'm not trying to meet a minimum spend.

My DH thinks is partly annoying, partly funny. Yesterday with my Amex BGR burning a hole in my pocket I was pestering him to pay taxes a month early:rolleyes1 AND...I was disappointed when the property tax notification wasn't a bill :rotfl2:At least those aren't created spends so we have budgeted for them already.

It’s a pretty good obsession - saving TONS of money on travel :D

Having him double dip would be awesome! Make sure you refer him to the CSP (you’ll get 10k URs for that). If you’re interested, you could join our Reddit group and support another DISer by using their link for CSR.

ALSO, have you considered getting a CIP card (Chase Ink Preferred)? We talk about that card a lot here and it’s got a very lucrative signup bonus.

I'm a worrier so I would wait until after you hit MSR to buy gift cards at Staples :) How long do you have?

Do you want to spend $99 now for a free night next year? Is it worth that to get another 15 elite nights for status? Do you value all that plus 75k Marriott points more than $500-750 worth of UR points?

i think your pushing your boundaries with Chase for yourself... going over 4/12 is a very common trigger.
your husband may be good for 1 or 2 cards. but his is also getting there too.

I will lay off Chase now, after the Marriott Biz card approval. For my husband, if he doesn't get the CIP that will be it for him as well. We'll maybe start looking at the Citibank cards.

Would love that United card for him, though, since 60k would be more than half the points needed for a business class ticket to Europe.

I messaged Amex about my SPG twice...and got 2 different answers. I messaged again once I thought I reached spend for my retention credit and was told I met it already but nothing yet. Now I have Hilton Ascend, upgraded from the old Honors Card and “3 months” from 8/3 :confused3
you mean you didn't get the bonus from a new spg app? And for the Hilton Ascend our upgrade points posted almost instantly a few weeks back

Darn... I wish we could extend it another day! Unfortunately, I've picked a REALLY bad time to be away from work for that trip, so I'm already pushing my luck taking off the two days I am.

Does anyone know anything about the Citi AT&T Access card? Relevant link

I've seen a few people here and there on r/churning talking about it. It earns TY points but does not have a restriction if you previously signed up for another TY card in the last 24 months (it only restricts you if you received an Access or Access More card in the last 24 months). I guess there are often spend bonuses on this card? Since I got the Premier, I've learned a bit more about TY points, and since they're hard to accumulate, it caught my interest. 10,000 TY isn't a lot, but neither is $1k spend, and if easy spend offers really are common it might not be a bad idea.
