I love credit cards so much!

I would *love* to tie the Olympics in to our trip, but I keep going back and forth as to whether the crowds would be worth it or whether we should time our trip to avoid the Olympics rush. We will be traveling with Thomson Family Adventures (we actually put a deposit down last year because they guaranteed us 2017 rates for 2020 by doing that — definitely the farthest in advance I’ve ever booked a trip, which is saying something for me, lol.) I’m so glad we plunked the deposit down, though, because Thomson’s rates for Japan for 2019 are something like $1k more per person than the rate we have locked up for 2020 We are planning to add a few days to the beginning of the trip (which starts in Tokyo) to hit the Disney parks and to do a day trip to Mt. Fuji, and likely a day at the end in Kyoto. Since it is still a couple of years out, we haven’t locked in dates with Thomson yet, so I can continue to mull over the Olympics angle.

Yeah, I'm sure it's going to be insane during the Olympics, but I'd rather get to go to Japan and see the rest of the country and it be insane than go somewhere else to see the Olympics. Plus, I'm very confident in Japan's ability to handle the crowds and be fully prepared for the Olympics, unless some recent countries. DH and I are also horseback riders and will likely spend most of our time at the equestrian events, so maybe those won't be as packed :)

I had the same question and found this - https://thomas.vanhoutte.be/miniblog/imgur-thumbnail-trick/

It works but I had to copy what he put in because I can't figure out what it actually is he's putting in. It looks like an I but I don't think that's really what it is.

It's a lower case L (to signify Large thumbnail)
It's an interesting way for them to do that. Now I have to look into how actually to use imgur

Maybe this would work for the grocery store?

So I ended not finding anything to use for my Walmart/sams club groceries except maybe that one generic one ($4.95 fee on $200 isn't too bad I guess since the rebate is 10%) or Kroger (which I don't shop at).

ETA: I got imgur to work for me. Whoop! Should I make them smaller somehow though?

Your Lowe's GC racks looks identical to ours here in MD. Great to have a reference without having to refer to memory now hehe :D

SO after doing some reading this is the issue. I should've just waited for ya'll to reply instead of researching. lol

I got it in June 2017 so my AF doesn't hit til 7/1. So should I call back tomorrow and ask to PC my now CS to a CF or wait awhile?

@wendow it must have been this one I remembered you pc'd under a year, not that CIP I was just asking you about. At least now I know I'm not crazy.
:teeth:

ETA: Oh wait, if I PC to CF I don't have any more UR cards in my name. So what happens to the earnings from the CF? Do they turn into cash back? I have a CIP under a different log in.

ok! Since it is called cash back I thought maybe it only converts to UR if you have a sapphire.

The only difference is how you can redeem them. A CF can't transfer to partners and only gets 1cpp on everything (stmt credit, gift cards, travel). You'd probably want to setup a transfer relationship to a card that gets better redemptions for when you want to use them.

It's either good or bad marketing on Chase's part that makes the distinction. It's buried in the fine print that you earn UR points that can be redeemed for cashback on the cash back cards :)

OK thanks! I can send them to DHs CSR until I can DD the CSR/CSP next year.

@miztressuz covered it already, but CF/CFU is totally fine to hoard URs with until you are ready to DD the CSR/CSP or transfer to your DH. Like the CIC, they are marketed as cashback cards, but held in the form of URs only redeemable for cash or GCs, which is slightly confusing, but totally fine since we can transfer to CSR/CSP/CIPs ultimately. Not complaining!

I went to make burgers on the grill tonight only to find a sparrow’s nest with 4 babies in it. That Lowe’s 10% off on the SPG Biz is looking pretty nice right now since we now have a grill to replace. I am being lazy at the moment, can it be used for online puchases?

Yes, online purchases count. There are a few restrictions, but looks like it's mostly for custom options. Here's the language:

It is and I found when I hovered over my username in the upper right and then clicked on images to see them all I could actually get the link more easily. If you click on the photo that you want it'll give you a list of links, down at the bottom it lets you select the size, for the boards the large thumbnail will be good. Once you click on that you just hit copy for the link you need, I used the one for message boards so I can just plop them in my trip report and not have to link each one. I had a couple hiccups and had to recopy links but got it worked out. It's actually more easy to use than I thought and I think I figured out how to do it without having to actually share them on imgur, since I never clicked share on there but they pop up on the boards.

We went to the Salt Lake Olympics in 2002, and it was super fun, so totally understand your interest, and Japan would be such a great place to see them. That’s part of the attraction for me as well: the location plus getting to see a summer games since we’ve already experienced a winter games. I’d love to see some of the swimming.

I know there are followed MDers on here...if you have BGE utility service, do you know if there are additional fees for paying monthly with a CC? We have ours scheduled to come out of our checking account and I see there is an option to pay via CC but fees may apply. I don’t want to go messing with DH’s set-up in case I mess something up. He would not be a happy camper.

This sounds FUN!!!
Have you ever gone to watch the Kentucky Rolex 3 Day Event?

On another note, if anyone is interested in my trip report for DLP and Paris I've posted it over on the DLP board - https://www.disboards.com/threads/w...nd-fun-in-disneyland-paris-and-paris.3686192/

I've got it all written I just need to upload the photo's. I'll work on it some more tomorrow, I've got a book I'm dying to get back to and I'm 40 minutes past my deadline for trip reporting today o_O

Oooh what book are you dying to get back to? I need one of those. I'm about 1/4 of the way into a new book today and on the fence about continuing . . .

Need to know this too! I read a lot and have a Goodreads account in case anyone else does :)

I'm about 2/3 through My Dear Hamilton, about Alexander Hamilton's wife, which is by the same two authors that wrote America's First Daughter about Patsy Jefferson. They are history novelizations so they read more like fiction but are based on facts though they do take some liberties with timelines and such to make things work better. Plus, like movies based on old stuff, you can only kind of know, if that, what was actually said etc. They are good authors which is why I picked the book up, but I also wasn't familiar with the Hamilton's so it's been good for that.

I have one as well! I don't know how to find people I'm not already fb friends with on there, but I'm open to being friends on both :)

Anyone here sign up for the new Chase Business Unlimited card? I have seen lots of blogs about it, but haven't seen many mention it here. Are there referrals for this card?
There was some initial excitement when it first came out...but I think we are all in agreement that CIP and CIC are better options than CIU. So it’s a distant 3rd place in terms of UR earning biz cards. Plus if you factor in other Chase biz cards (SW and Marriott being 2 major ones) it’s not really a focus card for most of us now. It’s also subject to 5/24 so that rules some people out. IF the CIC 50k UR bonus goes away and CIU stayed at 50k then I’d think it would get a lot more publicity here.

The only card of any of those mentioned here that has a “support” link is CIP I believe. :) But I don’t think any of us around here really make card recommendations with “support” links in mind.

Costco been having them on sale. Rumor is that v2 is coming out very soon.

Thanks! Looks like $140 plus $5 shipping unless I can get them in store. I guess they won't put them on sale between now and Father's Day, huh? I will watch for another week.
