I love credit cards so much!

Can I SM chase and have them lower my Cash Advance on the card?

Yes. Just ask to lower your cash advance limit to the lowest amount possible. They'll reply back. Then just message back to confirm.

@speedyfishy is neck deep in bank funding and MSing right now, and I see she's replied to that part of your question.

WOW!!!Thank you....

I will give it a try. I have a giant 3 miles away and a harris teeter 6 miles away. i hope to report back soon. Once i get the cip in hand i was hoping to do a pnc account. Just wasn't sure if it worked.

Good luck! Funding bank accounts is much easier than getting money orders, but Amex stopped allowing bank funding. I haven’t heard anything about Chase not awarding the points for it though.

When you start buying VCG to MOs start slow. Don’t do too much. People used to be able to use Venmo with Amex Giftcards and buy MOs at the post office but those options ended recently. People were left with a lot of money in giftcards that they had no way of draining. Just remember things can change at anytime.

Thing's we learned about @CoP Luv today: it's entirely possible they live in the boondocks of Alaska ;)
(I feel like we have one every other block and I have NO idea how they stay in business because no one is ever there!)
ETA: LOL- I read your comment as 1 hour 20 mins from the nearest store... I need to slow down my reading!

Haha. Nope. Pretty far from Alaska in a large metropolitan area. But one day I want to visit...on points, of course!

Don’t forget that you can buy a variety of e-gift cards anywhere on your phone using Gyft and Swych apps, which currently earns 5x UR on CIC through PayPal checkout.

Next quarter, the Freedom’s 5x category also includes PayPal transactions so anyone with that card can use it too.

I am going to have to look into this more. I hardly ever remember to use the MPX app! I am not a huge fan of having too many gift cards around just because they will sit unused somewhere, but slowly but surely, I will get it all figured out.

MPX is another app entirely! Since Amex killed 5x MR with the Plats on MPX, you have to do a little thinking to decide (1) whether to use MPX vs. Gyft/Swych, and (2) what's the best card to use with MPX.

1. With Gyft/Swych, you currently earn 3x UR when using CIP or 5x UR when using CIC through PayPal checkout. That's 3x/5x on every card you see on those apps. Very easy to figure out.

2. With MPX, you need to look at the merchants whose gift cards are available on the app, then think of their merchant code (Starbucks=restaurants/dining, Uber=travel, Amazon=merchandise?). Does the merchant you want to buy a gift card for fall into a bonus category on the credit card you want to use?

For example if you want to buy a Starbucks gift card, you'd use the CSR to earn 1 mile/$ (+25% bonus if you have a MileagePlus credit card connected to your MPX account) + 3x UR/$1 because Starbucks triggers the dining category bonus (or if you're using a CIC, then that's 2x UR/$1). Likewise with Uber, you'd want to use a CSR (for the travel category) or CIP (travel) to earn 3x UR/$1 and 1 mile/$ (+25% bonus if you have a MileagePlus credit card connected to your MPX account).

For merchants who don't fall into a bonus category, you might just want to use a card that earns a high point value on every dollar spent, like the CFU or a SPG, and earn at least the miles for that merchant on MPX. But then you have to decide, is 1 SPG point or 1.5 UR + the UA miles > 3x or 5x UR through Gyft/Swych?

ETA: For example, I need to buy dog food from Petco, but that's not in any bonus category. I could buy a Petco gift card on Gyft in $10/25/50/75/100/200 denominations and earn 3x UR with CIP or 5x UR with CIC/Ink+. Or, I could use MPX to buy a Petco gift card in the exact amount that I need at the cashier, earn 5 miles/$1 through the app (+25% bonus miles because I have a MileagePlus card added to my account) and earn 1 SPG point/$1 because I used my SPG Biz. I usually choose MPX in that case.

What I'd like to do is be able to use my other Chase cards to max their UR earning value (CIC for 2x gas and 5x phone and internet, CSR for 3x restaurant and travel, CF in 5x rotating categories) and then use the CFU for anything not included in a category so I can get 1.5x on all miscellaneous purchases.

That is exactly what I do today with the cards I have (waiting for DH's CIP to arrive and trying to figure out how soon it would be safe for him to go for the increased CIC sign-up offer given that he got CSP in Feb. and was just approved for CIP), except when I am meeting MSR on another card (like the SPG Biz right now) where I try as much as possible to sacrifice only the 1.5x I could be earning with the CFU and not higher bonus categories.

Okay, all this made my head spin. I'm going off to do a survey...

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some input in which card I should get. I am currently 2/24 with Capital One Quick Silver Aug 2017 and Chase Slate Dec 2017 ( got both before really understanding this churning game):sad2: I also have an old (8+ years) BA cash rewards card.

So I am thinking to try and go for the double dip CSP and CSR. I should have no problem in meeting the MRS since I have a daycare bill of over 2K a month + all my organic spending.

My goal is to fly to Brazil for free or almost free since we now need to pay for 4 RT tickets! My home airport is BOS

I did some researching and it does not seem that UR transfer to AA. Is that correct?

You guys are awesome!

The CIP comes with a 80k UR signup bonus after spending $5,000 in 3 months, the ability to refer for 20k UR up to 100k UR, but carries a $95 AF. The CIP earns 3x UR in the following bonus categories: (1) travel, (2) shipping purchases, (3) Internet, cable and phone services, and (4) advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines. (As we know, the 3x UR category also includes Plastiq, Gyft, Swych, Venmo, eBay sellers fees, etc. The CIP also includes cell phone insurance, subject to limitations, if you pay your bill with it.) Points are worth 25% more when redeemed through the CIP's UR portal (but if you transfer the UR points to a CSR, they are worth 50% more).

The CIC now comes with a $500 cash back (which is actually 50k UR) signup bonus after spending $3,000 in 3 months (historically, the public offer has been just $300 cash back or 30k UR), no ability to refer, but has $0 AF. The CIC earns 5x UR on purchases up to $25,000 in the following categories: (1) office supply stores and (2) internet, cable and phone services. (For office supply stores, think 5x UR on VGCs and gift cards to Disney and hundreds of different merchants, restaurants, gas, and online services. The CIC also currently earns 5x UR on Gyft and Swych through PayPal checkout. The CIC does not earn any bonus on Plastiq.) The CIC also earns 2x UR on purchases up to $25,000 in: (3) dining and (4) gas stations. The CIC is a "cash back" card, so you technically earn cash back in the form of UR points (1 point = 1¢); so you'll need to combine your points to a one of Chase's premium UR cards like the CIP, CSP, or CSR to transfer or redeem for travel.

Both are business cards and won't count against */24, but you do have to be under 5/24 to be approved.

Looking at this I am thinking I cont with my plan to PC my CIP to CIC after a year. All I will lose out on is the plastiq side of it. That is actually up in the air as I have my first mortgage payment scheduled with CIP for April 1. Will see if it goes through without any issues this time. If so it is over 12k points. yay! But I am thinking I may do better getting 5x on almost everything. hmmmnnn

DH has a real eBay business that has generated several thousand in profit this year already, so he's legit on all business cards (though I know that hasn't always mattered for some).

I'm super interested in his business. What does he sell? Does he hit up bargain hunt or something for deals and then post it on eBay at a profit?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, if I didn't have a CF but was in 2 player mode I'd even consider burning a 5/24 slot on it...P1 applies, earn 20,000 URs (15,000 + 2,500 AU + 2,500 5% category) then refer P2, earn 30,000 URs (15,000 + 2,500 AU + 2,500 5% category + 10,000 refer). 50k combined URs for spending $1,000...pair it with a CSR and you earned $750 back on $1,000 in spend... I think in single player mode this doesn't make as much sense. But in 2 player mode, it's very interesting.

I have a CF already, but could we still do this? Have DH get one and refer me? Can I have more than one? I don't know if I should take up spots for us both for this though. So much to think about.

Welcome!

Here is info on using UR for AA...
https://thepointsguy.com/2015/05/use-chase-for-aa/
I'm not great at any airline except SW, so I will let someone else help with the details.

Double dipping would be good. You would get 100k UR and then refer your DH for the same cards for another 100k + 10k referral (you) + 10k referral(you) + 10k AU points (CSPx2).
You'd get a ton of UR points!!!

ETA: You could actually each to a CIP as well. Those are 80k UR points...so x2 is 160k and 20k for referral as well!

PS- Don't forget to join dischurners on reddit and use support links for the first 2 cards. :)

He sells a little bit of everything and also does Fulfillment by Amazon. We spend a lot of our weekends scoping out clearance shelves at Target and Walmart. He's also done some orders online, most recently from Carter's for discounted children's clothes. We're going to Toys R Us and Babies R Us this weekend to see if we can find some good deals. So far his best sellers have been Casper sheets we got on clearance at Target recently for between $25-$35 and resold for about $80-$90. We probably bought 10-15 sets of those. He's made the most money off puppy training pads that were being discontinued at Petsmart. We probably bought 30-40 boxes of these training pads for $14.99 each and sold them for between $55-$70 on eBay and Amazon.

Sometimes he comes home with some weird stuff, but he's researched it a bunch and has sold everything he's bought so far!

lol I'm not that creative. I defer to others more skilled... *ahem* @pillow, @3 DD love princesses ?

I am SO BEHIND on this thread! Someone has probably answered already, but figured I would chime in . . .

I don't have US Bank specifically, but generally -

Attn: Cashier seems to work on the recipient line. Or maybe try Attn: Cashier U S Bnk (would leave out the "a")

On the second address line, I would then put U S Bnk - so at least you have something reasonably close to the name of your bank.

Good luck!

So if I understand your question - here's an idea on the process:
  • Refer your husband via your CF - you basically can earn $450 for $500
  • Then PC your CF to CFU (so that you don't have a "CF" anymore
  • (this assumes that it's been 24 months since you earned the bonus on your CF)
  • Have husband refer you to CF - you can earn the $450 for $500
  • PC your CFU back to a CF - now you have 3 CFs (yay 5% categories) and you earned $900 back on $1,000
Make sense? :)

oh my goodness! how neat! I saw those sheets at my target and we have a casper mattress but I didn't buy them. I love cariloha sheets. I didn't realized casper ones were so popular! see...don't know a good deal when I see it! Puppy pads would never have crossed my mind. What a neat idea!

DH's SPG biz didn't come yesterday, and we're leaving straight from work to head out of town today.

I kind of want to have his parents check the mail and send us the card number and I can put it in Samsung Pay... and then stop on the way out of town at the Kroger store for the Visa card we need to get 4x fuel points... and maybe a BB&B gift card and a wedding card because I just remembered I left that gc at home (hadn't bought a card yet...).

aaahhhh, yes! OK! My CF is actually a different card that I PC'd down to a CF, so no bonus there. So I should be good to go. Thanks! Love that the min spend is so low!
Having multiple CF will be esp great while the Apple Pay p2p is working!

I've been tagged on a couple of questions on Shutdowns. Probably the best way to evaluate that is for somebody to list ALL cards they opened in the last 24 months in order with month/year opening dates too. I'd be happy to then take a look and give my (non)expert opinion, haha!

OK, I'd like your thoughts. My take based on reading is that I should wait until 4/2018 to apply for the CIC or CIP with my stats:

1/17 CSR
8/17 Delta Gold Personal
1/18 CF
1/18 Disney Visa

So I am 4/24 overall and 3/24, 2/12, 2/6, and 2/3 for chase until April. I am nervous about the business cards, but this thread has made me think it is worth it.

FWIW I will probably get a Delta Business card and then another Discover after this. I think I am going to try to stay at 5/24 until the CSR falls off to try to double dip in early 2019. I am close to getting my husband to do the double dip, but it is a little bit tough to get him to try this out with two cards in a day!
