The CIP comes with a 80k UR signup bonus after spending $5,000 in 3 months, the ability to refer for 20k UR up to 100k UR, but carries a $95 AF. The CIP earns 3x UR in the following bonus categories: (1) travel, (2) shipping purchases, (3) Internet, cable and phone services, and (4) advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines. (As we know, the 3x UR category also includes Plastiq, Gyft, Swych, Venmo, eBay sellers fees, etc. The CIP also includes cell phone insurance, subject to limitations, if you pay your bill with it.) Points are worth 25% more when redeemed through the CIP's UR portal (but if you transfer the UR points to a CSR, they are worth 50% more).
The CIC now comes with a $500 cash back (which is actually 50k UR) signup bonus after spending $3,000 in 3 months (historically, the public offer has been just $300 cash back or 30k UR), no ability to refer, but has $0 AF. The CIC earns 5x UR on purchases up to $25,000 in the following categories: (1) office supply stores and (2) internet, cable and phone services. (For office supply stores, think 5x UR on VGCs and gift cards to Disney and hundreds of different merchants, restaurants, gas, and online services. The CIC also currently earns 5x UR on Gyft and Swych through PayPal checkout. The CIC does not earn any bonus on Plastiq.) The CIC also earns 2x UR on purchases up to $25,000 in: (3) dining and (4) gas stations. The CIC is a "cash back" card, so you technically earn cash back in the form of UR points (1 point = 1¢); so you'll need to combine your points to a one of Chase's premium UR cards like the CIP, CSP, or CSR to transfer or redeem for travel.
Both are business cards and won't count against */24, but you do have to be under 5/24 to be approved.
