Did your points.com purchase earn 2x SPG?

SOME of these tales of people having issues converting at Target make me wonder...I'm sure some people had problems but it seems to me that some of these stories are just people trying to scare others off.

It's one thing to keep your secrets to yourself in this game but to lie to "protect things" drives me nuts. Maybe I'm just seeing a conspiracy that isn't really there but some of the stories are just fishy to me...

I was telling my husband the same thing. I'll be interested to see what ends up happening.

Good friend has a large business expense coming up (I think it’s three nights in a hotel/six rooms but she has plenty of other business expenses). She’s going with her family of five to Paris for a few days next year on their way to Africa. Any good sign on bonuses that would help get them a nice hotel in Paris that can accommodate five? Probably a business cards.
CIP 100,000 point offer via BRM- I'm assuming it's her business though. Otherwise, a hotel credit card for her AND double dipping it for her spouse, idk which one since I haven't been to Europe but I know others here can help.

I'm sure some of those are duplicate stories from really pissed off people. Unfortunately some of them are also real so here's my thoughts on the matter (besides the caution I've preached for 2 weeks on the topic for those who've been on the gc thread and are sick of me at this point ;) )

-the post I saw (long ago- a year or two now and I saw a 2nd one from another DIS vet about a month after) about someone whose Target won't take gc for gc anymore because it's hard coded into the system was a long time DISer whom I trust so I firmly believe that possibility is real-though very remote
-manager's stopping transactions, real- it's happened to me but I just went to one of my 2 other targets so I got around it
-Gift cards being drained? sure, Target IT is horrible- and the entire world knows it. Stolen or shut down by Target we may never know
-Gift cards not being refunded? No. I don't believe that one. Everything I saw when I researched deeper on those complaints said they were resolved with an extra push from their Better Biz Bureaus so I 100% do not believe that there are people who never get their money back when their gift card is deactivated.

A caution for credit card readers who shop at Target (and I'll dual post this in the gc thread): my local target recycles gift cards. Not like breaks them down and turns them into bags or whatnot, they LITERALLY use people's old cards. I failed to notice in my shopping this morning when I was handed a $5 gift card for purchasing X amount of Y product they gave me a gift card with 137.00 written in black pen on the back and the scratch code area scratched off. That was someone else's gift card and they could still have those numbers and easily use the gift card themselves. I unloaded it later in the day at another Target successfully but I couldn't believe they did that- and their bar is pretty darn low! I never thought to check the gift cards the cashier handed me before- do it people! Check to see the scratch area isn't scratched off and stuff isn't written in black marker on the back because someone else might have those numbers.

I'd give it a couple days just to make sure and then SM Chase, that's messed up if they shorted you points & didn't give you the full 3,250 for $325 in purchases. (Also, double check to make sure you didn't purchase something at Walmart that you forgot about over the last month that was a part of your $325.)
No. I spent less than $200 all told. Walmart kept canceling orders, I reordered. Always making sure I used Chase Pay with my Freedom. I did buy $300 in GCs on CSR which earned the 10x though

This is really concerning and irresponsible. People could've used your gift card with no malicious intent. I have cards on our target account and never really would know if my wife used one up totally or not. If I saw $5 on there I might just use that card if I bought something online.

That's awful. I've never had it happen to me. I don't necessarily check but I always flip the card over & write the amount on the back. Then when I get home, I check the value online just to be sure it was activated. I usually save all those cards & get a Disney GC, hope it continues

Interestingly after waiting at Walmart forever, I took my package home & DH opened it when he got home. In addition to the item I purchased there were 2 Walmart GCs that I didn't order.

A bit off topic, but thought someone might know. In September at the Dolphin, we got a bunch of the complimentary drink cards since it was our wedding. We didn't end up using them all. I don't see dates or anything on them, do you think I'd be able to use them when I'm there next weekend?

Hmmm - if you give a few of them to me I could test them out for you and let you know

It was ridiculously irresponsible. (And I never even thought about people who might use it without malicious intent! Probably a lot more likely in all actuality.)

Kind of credit card related. Where is the best place to monitor credit reports and score? We're getting ready to buy a house, just waiting for something to fall off my husband's report first. He's not in the CC game right now and I'm not in the home loan game. Anyway, I want to monitor his report as it looks like this item has possibly fallen off one report early according to CreditKarma and I wasn't expecting it until Feb. Since I want to check often I want more than the free reports so I'm willing to pay. I'd like to see all three reports.

annualcreditreport.com will give you a full report for each bureau once a year. Idk about paid options. I use credit karma & the Experian app for my day to day monitoring.

Am I the only one that did not purchase Target gift cards yesterday?

I didn't. AmEx had a great deal at Sam's Club last winter- and we maxed it out on a bunch of different cards. It was straightforward and required no effort other than a trip to the club to buy the GCs. We still have quite a bit 'banked'- but hoping it (or something similar through another CC issuer) pops again in the near future. If not, will have to jump back into the GC game for a little while until something better comes up.

If you go to the credit bureaus like you filing a dispute, you will be able to see your report for free.

Am I the only one that did not purchase Target gift cards yesterday? I've done it 2 years in a row, but kinda feel like cash is king right now. I'd rather have cash than gift cards any day. Anyone else besides me out there?
haha I felt kind of the same..... I saw the deal, considered it,and decided I was already so far in with WM deal, and I don't need more dis gc for a long while..I didn't buy any either! then I spent some time wondering if I was crazy, but decided that it was al fine. Now I need to pay my bills for what I have bought so far!
