I think the other part of the problem last year was people who were buying multiple with the same card on different accounts, etc trying to get around the limit of one. Last year I used discounted gcs to buy a gc on my account, my husband's account, and then one in store. Took them all in the next night and got $900 of Disney gcs. I don't plan on waiting around on changing them to Disney this time either, I usually go ASAP whenever I have a Target card to use to buy Disney just in case I wake up and the rules have changed.DoC reports a lot of people had their gift card balance zeroed out... :\ sounds pretty scary...
fyi, my marriott points posted quickly this time around. Hope ya'll dont run into any trouble!
So I'm a pretty loyal Amex customer (thanks to Delta). Today I made a list of all the offers I had on my cards as well as my AU's (I keep them all except DD's EDP in my desk). So started at Target and took advantage of the 10% off gift cards (will use tomorrow on DGC), used EDP which I know is only 1.5x points but hey, I value MRs more than URs. I'd maximized my Discover already in Q4...next year I need to remember to hold off!
Starbucks for 15% back up to $5, bought coffee, DD's breakfast and more coffee.
Off to Bed Bath and Beyond to get 2 $25 disney gift cards (spend $25 receive $5 back), walked next door to Best Buy and bought a $250 gift card with $25 back (I know there is a chase pay but mine didn't work Friday so gave up), then off to PetCo for 2 more buy $25 get $5 back.
Finished up with gas at Exxon exactly $25 for 1050 MR points (2x mr points for spend plus spend $25 get 1000 mr offer--I have that on five cards so excited to buy gas this month!).
Bottom line-I've now saved more than my AF on 2 cards using amex offers so to me they are definitely still worth it. Also having them all laid out visually was helpful in pulling out the AU cards and my desk drawer cards I needed to use.
I just canceled my 2 Delta cards. I needed to make room for what may be coming out next year. I did finally get all my Amex offers organized on a spreadsheet and have a similar game plan. Looking forward to picking up Disney GCs for extra MR points and of course UR points with the Freedom bonus.
10x is only on $325, isn’t it? The math is still a little fuzzy. Had you already spent $32.50?Can someone explain Chase math to me? I made a $413.76 purchase at Walmart.com using Chase pay, thinking 10x UR points would be 4130 more or less. Somehow Chase has calculated it (I think) to be 3338.76 points. This is what shows up online:
11/24/2017 11/26/2017 Sale WALMART.COM $413.76
+ 9 pts per $1 Chase Pay Walmart.com bonus 2,925.00
+ 1 Point per $1 on all other purchases 413.76
Total rewards 3,338.76 Points
What am I missing? (Also, the purchase was gift cards, so no tax, if that matters. Also no shipping.)

I'm waiting for the Hulu charges to hit $50 before canceling my Delta card. So far it's just the monthly charge. Any way to pre-pay Hulu so I can cancel sooner?
If i buy a $300 gift card with my Amex, will that count toward the minimum spend?
Just pulled the trigger on our IHG free night certificates. The hardest part was figuring out where to go for just a weekend that was feasible. There are lots of great options if I weren't all vacation planned out. I didn't want to do WDW area since we are there all the time and usually use our Marriott free night certificates for a non DVC stay. We decided to go to DC and hopefully catch the cherry blossoms blooming if we get lucky. We each redeemed our free night at The Intercontinental Willard Washington Hotel. We got direct flights from MIA - DCA that are being paid for with Amex MR points and we will get 50% of our MR points back since I got the Amex Plat biz card shortly before they did away with that benefit. I have until January to keep getting the 50% back benefit so this was a nice way to get to make use of it again. Now, we get to look forward to a free weekend in DC next year among all the other vacation plans. YAY!
Don't you love those free nights??!! DH and I used both of ours at the Palazzo in Vegas. Oh that room! The Intercontinental in NYC is on my radar but we're vacationed out as well. Will have to wait until 2019 I'm afraid. Enjoy D.C.!
The IHG card is one of our new keeper cards.
It has been with SW. I was changing our flight home from Punta Cana to a direct flight and was short on points in my account. I quickly went to Chase and transferred them and they were almost there immediately for rep to use. She said your short on points and the next thing she said was oh,no you are not.
any reason why it wouldn't work with a travel agent? I'm hanging onto something like this as my backup plan if my car rental timing doesn't work out TC-wise in a couple of weeksMine worked with Costco travel.
Absolutely!Wow...That is good to know. And they transferred at the 1:1 rate, so if you transfer 10k from Chase you'll have the same 10k at SW...?
