Marathon Weekend 2027

SAFD (oof this was hard):

  • Lion King over Little Mermaid in a very close battle. The epic opening sequence puts Simba over the top.
  • The upstart Encanto narrowly edges Beauty and the Beast in a clash of memorable music.
  • The Incredibles scores the bracket's first upset by knocking off fan favorite Toy Story, leading some to wonder whether the coach erred by not starting Woody and Buzz's superior second outing.
  • Up and Coco both hit similar emotional beats, but in the end Up is able to hold off the challenge and advance.

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl easily ends Enchanted's "Cinderella" run.
  • Mary Poppins dunks Roger Rabbit in the dip.
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark cracks the whip on a gamely Guardians, showing Chris Pratt who the true Indiana Jones is.
  • Incomplete was Cassian Andor's training, as The Empire Strikes Back shows it is still the master and leaves the younger generation of Rogue One frozen in carbonite.

SAFD: Ok, this was no fun! :)

  • Little Mermaid over Lion King
  • Encanto over Beauty & the Beast
  • Toy Story over Incredibles
  • Coco over Up
  • Pirates of the Caribbean over Enchanted
  • Mary Poppins over Who Framed Roger Rabbit
  • Guardians of the Galaxy over Raiders
  • Rogue One over Empire Strikes Back - yes that’s what I said :)

This is a curiosity question but where do people get an adult beverage during the last parts of the marathon to cross the finish line with it?
I stopped at Boardwalk deli this year to grab food, but they sell adult beverages too. It's about a mile to the finish, but if you're going to be getting to Epcot before it opens, it's an option.

Re: the slower runners "taking spots" from faster runners.. I am currently sitting on a 5:14 buffer over my BQ cutoff so I feel like I am the sub-set of runners this would, in theory, affect the most. My take is that I have chosen the qualifying route for Boston. Could I get in with a charity and raise money, yes. But that's not how I want to get in. Will I be upset if for the 2nd time I qualify but miss the cutoff, yes of course. But I am not upset those taking charity spots. Boston has decided to give those out and I have decided that I will continue to work my a** off until my buffer is enough. I have also decided the NYC Marathon is a race I want to do for different reasons than I want to do Boston and decided to go the charity route. I've been running halfs/fulls since 2010 and while race sell outs are frustrating, I don't feel like I have more of a right to them than a newer/slower running. Unless I'm a professional/elite (which I'm most certainly not), I'm not entitled to do any race.
