Thanks! I replied directly to Marriott's tweet and it doesn't show them tagged in the tweet but I'll see what happens. I honestly have no idea how to use twitter haha

if u reply to Marriott's Tweet, it will include an @MarriottRewards. im not sure if thats required or not, but it makes sense that it does.
i know @ NFL doesnt because the previous few, i never included them.

edit: i got a DM from Marriott saying i got it... used to be a reply. i guess they are doing things differently now.

I am actually a little embarrassed to admit that I still have the Premier Chase Disney Visa and put a decent amount of money on it every month. (Although Discover was my first years ago and has only recently been dusted off since there are the Amazon/Target bonus categories). We use the Disney mostly because it is an easy card for my husband to remember to use for gas and groceries and if he forgets his Reserve dining out. The rewards add up fairly quickly and I use it rather than another card for Disney purchases. I always feel better paying for something like Extra Morning Magic with rewards rather than straight money.

Same here! I loved my pink premier card, with mickey and minnie on it. Until they randomly sent me a new uglier card because they apparently discontinued the one I was using. Weird, because mine wouldn't expire for a few more years, but they sent me a new card with a different expiration date. Anyway, I love using those rewards for free disney stuff.
I'm not a hardcore churner, just have several cards that I use depending on what trips we have coming up. I try to keep a minimum number of chase freedom/sapphire points (see, I don't even know the correct terms) so I can transfer to SW and book a flight if needed. Also keep points on hotel cards in case of a last minute booking for my kids' sports meets. So I tend to use whichever card I need to beef up more at the time. I do pay attention to which cards have higher points for specific categories, but gave up on DH doing that. I do have him trained to ask which card to use for larger purchases though. :D

I’m fairly new at this, and have a question about booking Southwest. I know I can call Chase to book SW, but is there any advantage to doing this rather than transferring points to my SW account and booking on there? Are my Reserve UR points worth more than straight SW points? I can clearly see that my Reserve points are worth more than my preferred points. (I was darn lucky and applied for the preferred card just before they implemented the one Sapphire rule.)

Also, can anyone recommend what my next card should be? I have one southwest card, but I’m thinking of cancelling it because I’ve had it a while and want to be ready if they ever offer 60000 again on the cards (or even 50000) to be able to possibly go for a companion pass. I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which I’ll probably product change because the annual fee is due soon. Got lucky with that one, too. Got the 100000 and double dipped the travel credit. My most recent card is the Chase Sapphire preferred. I have the Chase slate, which I got eons ago and just keep for the age. I don’t use it, nor do I use my citi card or capital one card. No rewards! These are also from years ago, before I knew better. Anyhow, no particular travel plans in mind. Probably just domestic travel at this point, as there is so much to see here still. I have been known to pick vacation spots by whichever place had the cheapest airfare. My upcoming travel will be two trips to Texas for my daughter’s graduation, but I have enough points to cover those trips already. Suggestions on my next move? Thanks.

I have always transferred my UR points to my SW RR account. Purchasing through Chase is like a cash transaction so if the fare changes or you change flights, you get a voucher that needs to be used within one year of purchase of the original fare. I prefer to have changes returned as points. The majority of our flights have decreased in points (as I am continuously checking after I have purchased) and I can quickly make the change and have the points returned to my RR balance.

The SW Biz offer is still at 60,000 points. You could apply for that and then wait for a personal card offer.

When we were there in August there were discounts at the gift shops (minimum spend of $75) and on the meal plan when you used an Amex. You can see those in the universal app.
Thanks. My nephew works there so we typically take advantage of his employee benefits. I was hoping for something at the resorts.

You don't have enough posts to send a PM. If you reply here with your Reddit name I'll get you added. :)

What's do ya'll think..... between spouse and I we have 3 regular freedoms...the Chase site is really promoting the FU tho....should we have one of these in our wallet...if so,why? And I have the CSP and CSR,DH has the CSR. I was considering pc'ing Dh's to the FU (can that be done? since it falls at the right time for me to use one more TC benefit before doing so..... and the one sapphire rule....I was planning to keep my CSR (at least one more year) and PC my CSP to (maybe?) the FU..... but now I'm concerned that if I do this, neither one of us will qualify for a CSP in the future, which we may want again instead of the CSR...is this a valid concern? From what I understand of the rule, if DH got the CSR bonus last December 2016, this means he won't qualify got another csp until at least Jan 2019, do I have that right? I need to keep at least one travel points qualifying card in the mix so we can use all those lovely points....

Has anyone done the HSBC checking account for the $350 bonus? If so, how long did you need to keep the account open to avoid fees? Considering doing it for both dh & I. Here is the link for anyone interested:

https://www.us.hsbc.com/1/2/home/pe...AC-15&cid=WES0026878&WT.mc_id=HBUS_WES0026878

I looked at Doctor of Credit's website and searched for HSBC. Looks like 90 days is the minimum time to hold the account open to qualify for the bonus and an early termination fee of $25 if held less than 180 days. There's a lot of posts indicating people had difficulties or disliked HSBC for various reasons, so I'd recommend reading those and deciding if you're ok with the possible downsides.

Regarding the Disney CC and rewards - my Premier and Regular rewards are completely separate, you can't combine the rewards. I'd get the no-fee card first, earn the bonus, then downgrade the Premier to a regular card. I currently have 2 Disney cards (both the no-fee versions) from doing this. I could've closed the Premier but why not let it continue to age on my credit report, right?
I know people often like to complain about the literal definition of churning and people using it incorrectly (i.e. Opening the same card multiple times vs all credit card activities). But I will say my wife and I have legitimately churned the Disney card 3 times each and referred each other twice each over the past 6 years. For a Disney fan - that's a phenomenal return on a low spend!

I was just telling my husband this weekend that after what I have been reading online here, I should PC my Disney Premier to the no fee and get a new card for grocery earning! I use my Disney Premier Visa for the 2% grocery and restaurants but I'm sure I can do the same or better with another card. I'm still trying to plan out my strategy while I'm 2/24. Is there a specific card you recommend for groceries? FWIW I do not need gas rewards, I have a company card for gas purchases. Also, I am trying to build my husband's credit. Is there anything I should consider doing, like refer DH, before PCing my Disney Premier card to the no fee? I was thinking of just having him apply for the no fee just for the sign up bonus. I just want to be careful with my choices for him as he has just started to build credit...he has one card, the DiscoverIT.

We spend a lot on groceries and I like the Amex Blue Cash Preferred for that spend. It earns 6% cashback on groceries (on up to 6k of spend annually). The AF is $95. There is also a no fee version that pays 3% cashback on groceries (also up to 6k spend). Both cards pay 1% after the 6k is met. I think the break even point is somewhere at just over 3k. We spend closer to the 6k (actually already hit it for this year) so the AF card makes more sense for us.

Both cards have a signup bonus: $200 after 1k spend on the fee version and $150 after 1k spend on the no fee version. Might be a better bonus through a referral or searching incognito for the card.

Amex Blue Cash is a no annual fee card that offers 3% back on groceries (you can redeem as cash back in increments of $25). That 3% is on up to $6,000 in annual grocery purchases. The public signup bonus is $150 back for spending $1,000 in 90 days HOWEVER you can get a better offer of $200 back for spending $1,000 through a referral link.

Amex also has a Blue Cash Preferred card that offers 6% back on groceries but it has a $95 annual fee. Depending on your spending, it could make sense to pay the fee but if at times you would divert your grocery spend to meeting a min. spend on another card you could fall short of the break-even threshold (which I calculate to be $3,167). This card has a public signup bonus of $250 back for spending $1,000 in 90 days and also has a higher referral offer available of $250 for spending $1,000.

You can downgrade the preferred card to the Blue Cash Everyday card to avoid paying the fee on the second go-around OR you could do what I did and get both and earn both signup bonuses. I've kept the Everyday card open but closed the Preferred.

Thank you, I also spend closer to 6k so the AF card would definitely be better for me. Any thoughts on the new Uber card? No fee and 4% on groceries. I don't think I want to use one of my spots for this but was thinking of having DH apply. Just mulling over ideas.

Regarding the freedom unlimited - Between my wife and I, we have 2 Freedoms and 1 Unlimited. The unlimited rarely gets used, but we will on occasion use it for:
a) bank account funding when opening a checking account for a bonus when I have no other Visa Card that I currently am meeting a min. spend on
b) a very large ticket purchase when I have no min. spend to meet or category bonus available (this has been extremely rare)

We convert our URs to Southwest so I look at the Freedom Unlimited card as earning us roughly 2.4% back in the form of Southwest Points on every purchase.
