I’m fairly new at this, and have a question about booking Southwest. I know I can call Chase to book SW, but is there any advantage to doing this rather than transferring points to my SW account and booking on there? Are my Reserve UR points worth more than straight SW points? I can clearly see that my Reserve points are worth more than my preferred points. (I was darn lucky and applied for the preferred card just before they implemented the one Sapphire rule.)
Also, can anyone recommend what my next card should be? I have one southwest card, but I’m thinking of cancelling it because I’ve had it a while and want to be ready if they ever offer 60000 again on the cards (or even 50000) to be able to possibly go for a companion pass. I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which I’ll probably product change because the annual fee is due soon. Got lucky with that one, too. Got the 100000 and double dipped the travel credit. My most recent card is the Chase Sapphire preferred. I have the Chase slate, which I got eons ago and just keep for the age. I don’t use it, nor do I use my citi card or capital one card. No rewards! These are also from years ago, before I knew better. Anyhow, no particular travel plans in mind. Probably just domestic travel at this point, as there is so much to see here still. I have been known to pick vacation spots by whichever place had the cheapest airfare. My upcoming travel will be two trips to Texas for my daughter’s graduation, but I have enough points to cover those trips already. Suggestions on my next move? Thanks.
