I love credit cards so much!

Like others have said, there was chatter. They may never turn off the transfer ability- or they might turn it off affective immediately. Imho it's so easy to transfer the points it's not worth the risk so I transfer each time I get a new statement.

Ok! I will do it today!
Anyone know if I trf all my points to DH, since he has the csr, would I be able to book a trip with the points thru the portal if he were not traveling?

Obviously I'm an advocate of the Amex MR cashout thru Schwab, lol. That aside, there are some cashback options out there from lesser known banks. If you look hard enough you can continue to churn and move from signup bonus to signup bonus even in the cashback arena (and it's much more lucrative than just maxing a 5% category or something along those lines).
Not enough time or money for this option

ince Grocery is a hot category - a lot of times we will buy Visa GCs at the grocery store and use them to buy things at Walmart, pay for Cable and utilities, etc. Fortunately the gas program at the grocery store more than offsets the fee on the Visa GC. If that's not the case for you this option/math may not make sense.
I mostly shop at Aldi or Target (RedCard) No Safeway here. Many independent grocery stores don't carry GCs. We have Jewel/Albertsons but their fuel rewards programs specifically prohibits GCs which is the only thing I'd buy there. Don't Visa GCs have a fee? I can pay Comcast & Sprint with Cc, other utilities not an option. Right now, with a salary decrease we won't be eating out or only at super cheap local options.

Absolutely! As a family of 2 we would never max it out on just groceries, but getting 6% cash back on gift cards plus possible fuel rewards gets us pretty close to the max each year. I try not to buy anything at another store or restaurant without checking to see if Safeway carries a gift card that I can use. My son buys Nintendo eShop and PlayStation store cards before buying video games online. I'm not overly excited about Target and Amazon being Discover's 4th quarter bonus categories because I can always get those gift cards at a higher percentage at Safeway. When Target had their 10% off sale on Target gift cards last year, we headed to Safeway (which is right across the street) and picked up $300 in Target gift cards and then went to Target. We earned $18 in Amex cash back plus $0.60 off a gallon of gas.
Interesting. I have a RedCard so get 5% at Target so I'm not sure 1% would be a big benefit. I'll have to crunch numbers. 90% of our shopping is Aldi or Target. Christmas presents will be Amazon, Target or Walmart this year. Usually avoid Walmart but Freedom bonus is making me reconsider

Do you all plan to transfer the Marriott points to SPG? And can I transfer DH's Marriott to my SPG?

You can transfer SPG points between spouses very easily online. It takes a few days.

I would transfer husband Marriott to husband SPG, then husband SPG to your SPG. Very easy to complete. I do it all the time :)

Depends on which you value more. I tend to prefer SPG, but right both accounts have points because I have no immediate plans for them & Marriott hasn't decided which program is staying
You can easily transfer points between SPG accounts as long as you have the same address. Marriott charges $ to transfer.

i usually wait an hour before i try again. YMMV. Some ppl get them instantly, some ppl a hour later.
Thanks. I'm trying to figure out what happened last week. I did it and noticed a few days after they didn't post and shrugged it off. Got on Twitter to do it today, and noticed I had a reply from last week saying connect your accounts! Which I did... it's very strange. I figured out when I tried to connect it to all the social media accounts several weeks ago that I apparently signed up for a Marriott account a year ago, but never used it so it had no points. When I connected my accounts I got the credit in my new account from the CC so I figured I was good. I clicked on the Twitter reply about connecting my accounts and when I put in the info, it said my email was already associated and had a merge accounts button... I did that. Don't know what else to do now. Maybe see if I can merge Marriott accounts/delete the old one to stop the confusion.

Thanks! I replied directly to Marriott's tweet and it doesn't show them tagged in the tweet but I'll see what happens. I honestly have no idea how to use twitter haha
I just tweeted: 10 #RewardsPoints

I have never used twitter before and only use it for Marriott. Not into social media.
