I love credit cards so much!

I had no idea about the tax on MR points. That is annoying! Maybe I am not as interested in those now as I was. I guess that is why the SPG points to Delta skymiles is such a good deal. Now I am kicking myself for not having DH get a business SPG Amex when they had the 35,000 miles deal.

I didn't either, and it isn't mentioned a lot on the blogs I normally read which is why I thought it was something to share! I wish my DH would get into this game but he won't...the SPG business would have been awesome as was the targeted Amex Business he got for 150,000 MR. Sigh.

I actually started looking at the IHG last night. Pretty low annual fee too with a free night. I don't know if Chase will want to give me much more credit, but I guess it would be worth a shot.

I am way past 5/24 and was able to get the IHG card after calling and having them rearrange credit lines. It seems like a really good card to have if only for the low AF and one free night. It was also my DD's travel card since it has no international fees...until she lost it...twice :sad2: Chase was really good about replacing it twice, as well.

So strange. Every time I have called the Chase Status line for the last 3 days it keeps sending me to a live agent.

The one time this happened to me it was because Chase needed to confirm something (mailing address - I think I must have typed it wrong on the application).

Thanks! I ended up calling the recon line and the app is now approved!

Does anyone use the Upromise cashback shopping portal? I have avoided it because we don't have any 529 accounts, but lately it seems to be consistently offering the highest cash back for the places I've been shopping online. I read the FAQ on the Upromise site and it doesn't say anything about a requirement that the cashback be used for education expenses but maybe I missed that part. Anyone with experience?

I use Upromise. I've cashed out with them and they just mail me a check - no requirement for how it's spent.

Just got an email from Plastiq.
Not sure if it's targeted but it reads
"Schedule 3 or more mortgage payments with your Mastercard by end of this year, and get a rebate on the first 3 payments so that your effective Plastiq fee is 1.5%. "

Thanks for posting this! I just checked my email and got this too. I went ahead and scheduled my next three mortgage payments using my Barclaycard Arrival Plus card.

I'm anxiously awaiting my Barclaycard Aviator and then I'll consider the same.

Your first statement will actually be generated around 10/4 and will be reported to the credit agencies. I based this off of the fact that your first due date is 11/1 and Chase will usually have accounts close 3 days after which is your statement date 11/4. When you open a new cc account with Chase you actually have 6-weeks to make your first payment.

If you hit your $2k spend immediately and it hits your account before 10/4, then your points should post to your account by that first statement date.

Thx! That is what I found as well in my googling. It would be great if I can bump it up a couple days. We have flights on 10/4 and 10/15. If I could bump the closing date up a couple days it would save us a bunch of points having the CP for those. Worst case I should be able to use the CP for the return on 10/15 and I booked one ways.

We don't do as much as we would like with the kids still fairly young, but that is a good option. $75 fee for that many points is a good deal!

This is why we keep the card. The 3 times (Scotland, Ireland, London) we have used the accumulated points in the last 5 years were worth far more than the annual fees we incurred by keeping it.

The IHG card is another keeper card for us too. Like @tink1970 said, you can re-arrange credit lines. I was also approved for it and I was at 12/24 at the time.

Do you have hotel recommendations for London? DS has said that he would like to go there. I think it was to see The Cursed Child but I am hoping we can get tickets when the show opens in NYC in the spring.

We flew to London for the weekend just to see Cursed Child back in February. This hobby can allow you to do some really crazy things LOL We stayed at the Radisson Blu Edwardian on Mercer in Covent Garden. The theater was in walking distance about 10 minutes and the British museum was also in walking distance, 5 or so minutes away. We also walked a few minutes away to eat at a historic pub, The Lamb and Flag, which was really cool. I loved the area. We paid no money OOP to stay there. It was 40k or 50k points. Since we have their credit card we were offered a complimentary upgrade, early check in and late check out and wifi was free. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

I am also hoping to snag tickets when they are released for NY.

I'm joining you on the Cursed Child boat. NY will have nearly all of the West End's original cast - who were incredible. I also saw it in London in April and would love to see it again.

From what I read, you would need to request a payment date on the 26th of the month so that the statement date will be on the 1st and then the points should post shortly after. Just sent Chase an SM requesting mine be moved from the 16th to the 26th. I am still waiting to hear back from them. I could have called but wasn't in the mood after talking to 2 reps already today.

Okay, so my "I'm not going to open any more cards until 2019" lasted less than a week. I decided to get the Disney Premier Visa (already have the no-fee version) since there was a $200 gift card offer involved.

Question: Is there a way to combine the Disney Dollar Rewards from my regular no-fee Disney Visa with the ones I'll earn with the new Premier card?

Unfortunately there isn't. The rewards are tied to the individual accounts. Once you transfer your rewards to separate rewards cards you can use those to purchase a Disney gift card. It's a roundabout way to combine the rewards.

That one took forever to come in. Hope yours comes soon!!
I'm impatiently waiting for that one and Chase Hyatt card. DH is taking his car in for repairs tomorrow and I really want a new card for that bill (I have a feeling it might be a doozy, DH neglects his car)

Do you just buy a gift card on the Disney store site to do that?

Yes, but what I'm not sure about is if you can use more than one rewards card at a time as payment. I cashed out my rewards for my premier card as soon as the annual fee hit at the beginning of the second year and purchased a Disney gift card with them so I wouldn't lose the points when I closed the card. Then I combined that gift card with others on Disneygiftcard.com.
