I did the Chase Pay starbucks offer 48 hours ago. Still no 'stars'. In fact, the transaction doesn't even show up in my Starbucks app history. Anyone else have stars yet, or see reports of others having their stars post? If you've tried to get the offer, is the transaction showing in your Starbucks history?

Even though I had activated the offer through CP and linked my Starbucks rewards account with CP, I went into my Starbucks app yesterday and it didn't show CP as a payment source that was set up. I had Apple pay and the GC I keep in there. So, I set up CP as a payment source but now I'm wondering if that should have been done before.

I just went to Starbucks again and actually got CP to work this time. The barista had definitely never heard of it before and looked skeptical. I think she finally got it to scan by manually pressing the scan button instead of me just being able to wave my phone in front of it like you do with the regular Starbucks app. No stars yet, but I guess we'll see.

I used to do that walk all the time. My grandma lived on Long Island and we would take the train to Penn Station and walk around Times Square and sometimes walk down 5th. Sorry, I’m just really missing NY. lol I’ll be there in July when I take the bar, but I’m not looking forward to that lol. The walk isn’t bad my grandma is not fit, but I can understand not wanting to do it with luggage. Also, the walk is better in December. All the stores around there start to do Christmas things like 5th ave.

A large part of our trip is definitely going to be window shopping on 5th Avenue! My mom has really wanted to do this trip to see NYC at Christmas, so we'll be doing all the touristy stuff. I know I've told you this on another thread, but good luck on the bar :) You're going to do great!

Personally, outside of these promos, I don’t think I would ever use Chase Pay at Starbucks if the purchases don’t count towards the challenges in the Starbucks app. My Chase Pay purchases from this week haven’t applied to any of the current challenges. I actually do these challenges occasionally and enjoy getting bonus stars.

Oh man, I was looking forward to hitting a couple of challenges/Starbucks bingo with my visit and paying with Chase Pay. Good to know in advance that it won't work!

I added it since I'm planning to stop after work. I thought by adding chase pay to the sb app it would offer it as a payment form when ordering through the app but it doesn't. I don't understand why it needs to be linked through both apps if you still have to pay through the chase app.

I’m not sure if it needs to be linked both places. It just seems like going through the CP app didn’t ‘talk’ to my Starbucks app.

I agree that the in-store experience didn't make it seem like the apps were *talking* to each other, but when I activated the Chase Pay offer, it definitely took me to my Starbucks app for linking and then back to Chase Pay, which then indicated that the offer was activated, so I'm cautiously optimistic that the bonus stars will show up.

So, gyft.com only codes as 3x if you use paypal linked to CIP?

Do all Paypal transactions code as 3x with CIP or only certain things?

And what are gyft rewards? Worth keeping track of?

Been procrastinatin on excursions in Nassau, Atlantis is so darn expensive tI'll this morning.

Taking advantage of the Comfort Inn hack, I decided to check if Comfort Inn was listed on Southwest Air's hotel booking site Bingo! A one day room for our party of 4 was 300 bucks. Oh, it came with points as well. I paid via my Sapphire Reserve for 3x UR points. Figuring that's up to 150 bucks toward Southwest fare in points, the total for us all will but about 50 bucks each plus 9,000 (8,000 Southwest, 1,000 chase) points earned in total.

I recall looking into the Comfort Inn thing years ago (less the Southwest component), and it was very very confusing. The listed hotel room prices at Comfort Inn didn't include all the fees they charge. It might be worth calling the hotel just to double check that the rate you paid includes everything. I'm not up to date on this at all, but just wanted to pass along what I remember. Would hate for you to arrive and then get hit with unexpected fees. Good luck! Sweet 9,000 SW points!!

That's a pretty awesome booking, @WaywardMemphian , I did the Comfort Inn route too but a while ago and straight from the Choice website. To @pillow point, I found there that as long as you put in all the people "staying" in the room it calculated all the fees correctly in the estimated fees line and that's all I paid when we checked in. (including kids) So if you didn't already you could compare the fee breakdown from the SW booking to the Choice site for the same # of people and know for sure. Even with the extra person charges and fees it was cheaper for 4 to do the Comfort Inn than Atlantis directly or the ship excursion.

Yeah, I would probably be ok with it if I wasn't going to be dragging some luggage along in December haha. But we'll see, lots of time to make up my mind :)
Uber or lyft to the hotel is also an option. It was about a ten minute walk to the hotel, if I remember correctly.

The walk is totally doable. My 7 and 10 year old did the walk with us. Sorry that you miss NYC.

I can't get search to work... did anyone know about my spg question re: I should hit spend/pay all by Tuesday- but I need those points NOW- should I call and ask for the 7k offer and keep going on the spend, or will I then have to wait for the bonus till I hit/pay off 7k? (Not sure if I'm being clear lol) I guess looking for advice on when bonus posts etc after payment due date

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe catch the train in and then Uber from there if we don't want to walk the distance. It would still work out to be about half the price of an Uber straight from EWR. This is, of course, all I assuming that's where I end up flying into :)

Oh I also read something confusing about avios award booking- it looks like the policy is $55 to change anything on a ticket but I read a blog that said you could cancel for just the cost of taxes... any insight? Since I'm past my 24 hr booking window

Exactly which offer did you apply for? Are you attempting to get matched to a higher offer?

Were flying from EWR in less than two weeks. Good luck on whatever you decide. I'm trying to convince DH to do a short holiday trip to NYC but so far, he's like no..lol

Does your purchase show up in your Starbucks app history?

Based on my understanding, your purchase shouldn't/wouldn't show up on your SB app history. Reason being, CP should be no different than any other form of payment outside of the SB app (i.e. Apple Wallet, credit card, cash). Your purchase would only show up on the purchase history if you use money from your SB account; in this case, the purchase was not made via the SB app directly, it was actually via CP. The 'linking' of accounts I believe is simply to ensure you qualify for the promotion and will be eligible to receive it. Linking your SB account would be different than actually using your SB app to pay to earn stars. Similar to how CP is a reload option, the reloads done with CP wouldn't count for stars itself, but it's the purchases made using those funds via the app would count and appear in the transaction history.

I too an cautiously optimistic since I did click through the CP app to link the accounts that my purchase from 3/14 would count as well. Otherwise, customer support I guess :hyper2:
