I love credit cards so much!

It was ok in the end although they picked which card to reduce and it wasn't necessarily what I would have picked. They reduced my CSP and kept SW at 17k. My total line with Chase was well over my (part time) income. I have 5 Chase cards now.
You may already know this but you can shift CL between Chase cards just by calling in. it's pretty easy - just say I want to move $10k from my SW to my CSP. This is how I ended up with one card having $45k limit LOL!

Jaw drop. Some things you just don't risk!
Wow - I missed that post yesterday. That sucks but not surprising that somebody wasn't keeping track and didn't understand how they calculated spend.

Back in my day when you didn't just get 60k points for showing up (lol!) you would wait until after the Dec stmt closed to put any spend on the card because you needed that 2k and the 50k and then some to earn a CP, haha. I love sounding like an old man churner, haha!

Someone posted on TPG today that their SW RR points posted from Chase in December though he had calculated for January due to some returns. Chase CS told him returns count towards spend so he is out a CP.

Similar story. I bought and had to return several iPhone Xs charged on my SPG Biz due to repeatedly finding specks of dust under the rear camera lens of each phone. By the time I got clean copy, I had “met” the $10k minimum spend by charging (among other things) but subsequently returning several iPhone Xs, and all my 35k SPG points posted last month. As far as I could tell, 25k SPG posted within a day or two of me hitting $6k in charges, and the same with 10k SPG when I hit $10k in charges, regardless of returns during this period. Despite the returns, no claw backs yet. (I admit I was a bit panicked when I logged into my SPG Biz account after the new year and saw my SPG balance at 0 — then I realized it was only YTD.) Of course, I’m not taking any chances and will still actually spend $10k+. By my calculations, I’ve got about $2,000 to go within the next four months, which shouldn’t be a problem.

Interestingly, the numerous purchases of the iPhone X presented a lot of opportunities to experiment with shopping portals. Ebates and Shop Through Chase exclude the iPhone X, and I never earned any cash back or UR points on the purchases. Marriott Rewards More offers 1 point for $1 spent at Apple and does not exclude the iPhone X. The Marriott points posted immediately and were never clawed back when a purchase was returned or canceled.

Has anyone booked a one night package for Disney through chase UR and gotten them to extend the length of the tickets? We were planning on renting DVC points this year but would love to get the park tickets using my UR. Then we would transfer to DVC for the other 9 days of our stay. I don’t have enough UR for a full stay delux and this way I could still pay for the dining plan. Also wondering if anyone used David’s and payed with chase to see if it was coded as travel?

haha no I didn't get a response from you but no worries. I'll get you setup now and send you a response welcome message with links.

I thought I joined the reddit group the other day, but maybe not, since now I see it needs approval....I must have joined a public churning group.

Can you PM me a link to join?

My Hulu payment posted to Chase and I got 5x. Changing my Netflix to bill through Chase too. Every little bit helps.

If you have an Apple iOS device or Apple TV, you can subscribe to Netflix through an in-app purchase and have your monthly subscription fee, which is the same price as from Netflix directly, deducted from iTunes credit. iTunes gift cards are frequently on sale for 15% off or more. The same works for Hulu, and I believe the prices are the same through an iTunes subscription as from Hulu directly.

I have Android....At least I am getting 5x the points for this quarter.

You can also pay your Netflix subscription through your Google Play account, which you can load with Google Play gift cards. I don’t pay much attention to Google Play gift card discounts, as I’m on Apple, but I’m sure they go on sale frequently or could be bought at a discount better than 5%.

It's not a 5% discount I am getting this quarter. Chase is giving me 5x UR points on the payments. But thanks for the tips. I may look into this after this quarter.

The Chase Freedom is a “cash back” card that earns you cash back in the form of UR points. 1 UR = $0.01, so 5x = 5%, unless you redeem it for travel on the Chase UR portal for travel at 1.25 ccp with a CSP or 1.5 ccp with a CSR, or transfer it using a CSP or CSR to an airline or hotel partner for potentially better redemption. I get that.

But however you ultimately decide to redeem your 5x UR points, you’ll be hard pressed to beat a 10-20% upfront savings on Google Play gift cards. And buying discounted Google Play gift cards does not preclude you from also taking advantage of the Freedom’s “5x” bonus this quarter. That’s stacking. If say, Target or Best Buy, or even your local grocery store, runs a sale on Google Play gift cards, buy them at a discount, pay for them using some form of mobile payment like Android Pay, Chase Pay, or Samsung Pay and earn your 5x UR too. Or if the store doesn’t accept mobile payments, just buy the cards at a discount anyway and save some of the $1500 spend that’ll qualify for 5x to spend elsewhere. The bonus this quarter should be very easy to maximize.

I’m just trying to save you money.

Thanks. I do appreciate it. I know about Chase UR. I just posted to tell others that had the Chase Freedom that Hulu and Netflix are coding as 5x points this quarter.

And I do like to save money. :-) I also like earning free airfare. In terms of a 7.99 Hulu payment and 10.99 Netflix payment, the 15% I could potentially get from Google Play is not much saved and not much earned through UR. I would rather have auto pay on my one of my CC and earn a few points.

And yes, this quarter's bonus is very easy to maximize, especially with the digital wallets that qualify.

Hi, I recently used my CIP to put a deposit at David’s and it did code 3x. I’m still shy 11 months for my trip so I haven’t made the payment for the points yet but I’m assuming it will code 3x like the deposit did.

No joke SPG points are harder to earn and Hilton gives out points like candy.

I was shopping around for hotels for spring break, including looking at cash prices and how many points I might be able to earn on my stay. Then that scratch my head kind of feeling when I think I might earn ~4500 SPG for four nights (3x SPG Gold + 2x on SPG Biz). Our last four nights paid stay at a nearby Hilton netted us something like ~25,000 (I know, inflated) HH points after signing up for several promotions. These points systems will take some getting used to.

You don’t need to call with Chase. You can also just secure message them and tell them what you want to do.

OK, I am gonna go for it...yes it has taken me weeks to get up the nerve even with all your encouragement...lololol.

My first business card...I want those 80k points!! I kind of also want to try for the SPG biz before it possibly disappears since those points are supposed to be so great. I have a long relationship with chase. As far as amex I used to have their Costco card but it is now Citi and I haven't tried for another amex since then. Is it better to have a personal card before trying to get a business card? Which of these 2 should I try for first? I can probably meet the min spend on both at the same time, if that helps.
One more thought...I don't work, so when I app for personal cards I put DH's income. Does that work for biz cards too or do they not even ask for personal income, just biz income?

Hello fellow travel hackers. I'm asking this question here just in case anyone knows the answer. I'll be asking in the "Other Lands" forum as well. As some of you may recall we have the China Adventures by Disney trip coming up in May and we are doing a pre day in Hong King Disneyland, a post day at Shanghai Disney so we can have more time there than what is included with the China ABD. Then we have a post stay in Japan to visit Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea. This is all on our own and not part of the ABD trip. We've managed to secure 2 nights at the Disneyland Ambassador hotel with a park view room and also 2 nights at the coveted unicorn of MiraCosta balcony with a harbor view. Let me say that booking the MiraCosta was probably the most stressful booking I've ever done and thank goodness for the Disboards and someone sharing directions on how to do this.

Anyhow, as far as I know the hotels cannot be paid with Disney gift cards so I won't be able to get my 5x URs and 5%~ off that I am used to for Disney vacations. I am toying with the idea of multiple travel cash back cards again to wipe out the $3,000 we are looking at for the hotel stays. However, I know the MiraCosta booking system will only take certain cards. Even certain Visa and MasterCards won't go through. I don't know if that is also true when at the hotel. I also don't know if I would be allowed to pay with a different credit card than the one used for the booking. I am assuming I could since people cancel or lose credit cards all the time. Lastly, would I be allowed to do split payments on cards? DCL allows it and that is how we got $3,000 in excursions for free the last time I did this. Any help or pointing in the right direction would be great. Thanks!

We stayed at the Mira Costa a few years ago (not a balcony room) but we loved the hotel. I have no idea what credit card we used to pay - this was before I really understood about travel rewards, so I can't really help with that. However, a tip that you might not get elsewhere is that the Japanese ship their luggage from hotel to hotel, and it's not expensive and it really works. Much, much better than dragging a bunch of stuff around. We also shipped a box of stuff home from the Mira Costa - it took a while to get here, but one of my kids had been studying abroad in China and had a ridiculous assortment of stuff that he didn't need right away. Again, not very expensive and very efficient.

GO FOR IT! Everything you've posted makes me think it's a sure bet you'll get it.

Just be sure you're under 5/24 and you haven't had any other credit card applications with Chase in the past 30 days.

When you apply for a Chase business credit card, it'll ask you for business revenue and personal/household income. Revenue is the gross amount you brought in from your business, not profit or loss. For business revenue, @speedyfishy put down $5 and was approved for the CIP; my wife put down $1,500 of eBay sales from the prior year ($0 YTD at the time) and was approved. For household income, you can include your husband's income.

MMS posted a good article about how to complete a Chase business credit card application the other day; it's a sign! https://millionmilesecrets.com/2018...o-complete-a-chase-business-card-application/

Don't worry if your application is not automatically approved and goes pending with a we'll let you know in 30 days message. More often than not, CIP applications go pending. Do not call in even if you get a message to call in, unless you're prepared to speak to someone about your business. Just call into the automated status line: 1-800-432-3117, follow the prompts to hear the status of your application, and check in periodically (or maniacally several times a day -- we've been there). 30 days is a good sign, 2 weeks is a good sign, approved is a VERY GOOD sign. Most people here have been approved after a few days.

GOOD LUCK!

P.S. and don't forget to use a referral. And don't forget to eventually refer your husband for a 20k UR bonus to you and another 80k UR for him.

As for Amex business cards, all reports say they're easier to get approved for than Chase cards. You don't need a personal card with Amex before going for their business card, and Amex personal cards will add to your 5/24 count so best to avoid Amex personal credit and charge cards until you're done with Chase.

The Amex SPG Biz card is currently offering a 25k SPG points signup bonus after a $5k spend in 3 months, which is down from the high of 35k SPG points. However, the last 35k SPG points offer on the SPG Biz (October 2017) carried a $10k minimum spend, so arguably the current offer is easier to meet. I believe several our members have referrals up for the SPG Biz at the current best offer. Since Amex signup bonuses are generally once per lifetime, you'd usually want to wait for the highest offer available for that card but there's no telling if and when the SPG Biz card will end, or if a higher offer will come around again, so you might want to apply soon, and hopefully be able to take advantage of whatever new Marriott cards Chase and Amex come out with possibly this year.

But apply for the CIP first!
