I love credit cards so much!

GO FOR IT! Everything you've posted makes me think it's a sure bet you'll get it.

Just be sure you're under 5/24 and you haven't had any other credit card applications with Chase in the past 30 days.

When you apply for a Chase business credit card, it'll ask you for business revenue and personal/household income. Revenue is the gross amount you brought in from your business, not profit or loss. For business revenue, @speedyfishy put down $5 and was approved for the CIP; my wife put down $1,500 of eBay sales from the prior year ($0 YTD at the time) and was approved. For household income, you can include your husband's income.

MMS posted a good article about how to complete a Chase business credit card application the other day; it's a sign! https://millionmilesecrets.com/2018...o-complete-a-chase-business-card-application/

Don't worry if your application is not automatically approved and goes pending with a we'll let you know in 30 days message. More often than not, CIP applications go pending. Do not call in even if you get a message to call in, unless you're prepared to speak to someone about your business. Just call into the automated status line: 1-800-432-3117, follow the prompts to hear the status of your application, and check in periodically (or maniacally several times a day -- we've been there). 30 days is a good sign, 2 weeks is a good sign, approved is a VERY GOOD sign. Most people here have been approved after a few days.

GOOD LUCK!

P.S. and don't forget to use a referral. And don't forget to eventually refer your husband for a 20k UR bonus to you and another 80k UR for him.

As for Amex business cards, all reports say they're easier to get approved for than Chase cards. You don't need a personal card with Amex before going for their business card, and Amex personal cards will add to your 5/24 count so best to avoid Amex personal credit and charge cards until you're done with Chase.

The Amex SPG Biz card is currently offering a 25k SPG points signup bonus after a $5k spend in 3 months, which is down from the high of 35k SPG points. However, the last 35k SPG points offer on the SPG Biz (October 2017) carried a $10k minimum spend, so arguably the current offer is easier to meet. I believe several our members have referrals up for the SPG Biz at the current best offer. Since Amex signup bonuses are generally once per lifetime, you'd usually want to wait for the highest offer available for that card but there's no telling if and when the SPG Biz card will end, or if a higher offer will come around again, so you might want to apply soon, and hopefully be able to take advantage of whatever new Marriott cards Chase and Amex come out with possibly this year.

But apply for the CIP first!

Ok, I am excited! So should I do CIP today, wait for hopefully approval over next few days...then do the SPG Amex later this week? Or do both today but CIP first?

I'm excited for you! You can apply for the CIP with Chase today if you're ready! Go with your sewing business or eBay business -- whichever you think looks better on an app (and maybe save the other business for another Chase business card down the line -- the Chase Ink Cash offers a 30k UR signup bonus).

The advice to wait to apply on a weekday during regular business hours is meant for double dipping because in that case you have to get the first application approved before moving onto the second, so you want a human available in case you have to call reconsideration. With the CIP, the advice is usually the opposite; you don't want to speak to a human who might ask prying questions about your "business" so it really doesn't matter if you apply today or on Monday.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it matters to Amex if you apply for their cards on the same day as you apply with Chase. Chase seems to be more inquiry-sensitive between the two.

I have no insight into the timing of applications, but I am pretty sure I have called Chase recon on a Saturday morning.

Fortunately, I haven't had to face recon but I've read recon is open on the weekends, but the verification dept is not?

I don't know about the differences - this was for the CSR (so not a business card). That was my first (but not last) "Let us re-allocate some credit" conversations.

Wow - I missed that post yesterday. That sucks but not surprising that somebody wasn't keeping track and didn't understand how they calculated spend.

Back in my day when you didn't just get 60k points for showing up (lol!) you would wait until after the Dec stmt closed to put any spend on the card because you needed that 2k and the 50k and then some to earn a CP, haha. I love sounding like an old man churner, haha!
But why would you assume returns counted towards spend? They usually don't, points get clawed back too

No joke SPG points are harder to earn and Hilton gives out points like candy.

I was shopping around for hotels for spring break, including looking at cash prices and how many points I might be able to earn on my stay. Then that scratch my head kind of feeling when I think I might earn ~4500 SPG for four nights (3x SPG Gold + 2x on SPG Biz). Our last four nights paid stay at a nearby Hilton netted us something like ~25,000 (I know, inflated) HH points after signing up for several promotions. These points systems will take some getting used to.
Yes but redemptions are diffferent also. I can book Dolphin for 10k per night but Hilton starts around 40k for decent hotels. I did find 29k per night in Flagstaff for a new Hampton Inn but I think that's a promo rate because the Hampton Inn on the other side of town is 40k.

The computer tracking your spend only looks at purchases. It doesn't account for returns. Now if human eyes get on your account and see that you didn't actually meet the spend that's when trouble starts.

I've always met the full spend on every card but numerous times the points have posted before I actually hit the number because of returns. And it's happened with numerous issuers (Amex, Chase, Barclay) also.

I think you have a great chance of getting the CIP! What did you decide on for your business?
I would apply for the CIP first. The amex can be later today or in a few days. I'm not sure that matters.

Good luck!!

I recall reading a post on one of the travel blogger pages about a person who missed out on a Delta sign-up bonus because she was looking at some tracker (on the Delta site or AmEx site - I can't recall, and I have never seen a similar thing on any of my accounts). It turns out that the tracker only tracked purchases but AmEx was actually tracking purchases and returns - so some small return cost her the whole sign up bonus.

This story sounded like returns are routinely tracked by the credit cards but for some reason were not being tracked by a special tracker displayed on her account.

I think I am going to go with online selling. Does it matter that it isn't eBay? I usually sell thru FB. But I sold in the thousands last year and have already sold a couple items this year, so it is more current. Then, if I reopen my Etsy soon for the sewing stuff I can apply for another card with that later.

ETA: that MMS article says selling on local sites counts....ok here goes nothing! EEEKK!

No, it doesn't matter. My dh sells on CL so I used that. Sounds like you have a good plan!

I had to go "over" spend on Hyatt Chase because it subtracted returns. I kept thinking I'd met spend, and no points. So I spent more to go over. And I've had Points clawed back from CSP for returns (not bonus points from signup)

On the SPG bonus where you had to spend $6k for 25k and $10k for 10k points both my 25k and 10k posted before I hit the spend due to returns.

Also checkout @Lain story with the iPhones LOL. This whole discussion really only matters with Southwest and only in Oct-Dec though because to my knowledge that's the only card where somebody is actually trying to "delay" their points to post in the next year LOL!

Oh points absolutely are taken back. I never disputed that. And see my earlier comment where I basically say this whole conversation matters little unless in regards to SW card purchases in the 4th quarter. Haha.

Ok, so filling this out...I can't believe we had multiple rental properties for 9 years and I never used that to get a biz card. Of course we sold the last one last spring. ha!

so for selling stuff online do I put retail...automotive, food, gas, clothes, health, home goods. Or the other retail: books, hobbies, sports, general non store?

I mostly sell home decor, kid clothes and items, toys, etc

Whichever fits you better lol. Don't think too much into it ;)

Anyone have issues with Citi? Billing and robo calls?
Backstory: DH applied for AA Citi Business card 2/2017. We had tons of issues with getting emails, online access and couldn't set alerts. Even after calls to CS, couldn't fix all the glitches. Even they couldn't get his account to accept alerts. Cancelled card in 7/2017. FF to November, start getting robo calls that we need to login to Citi account 'to review account status '. Ignored calls since our 2 Citi accounts are current, no balances. Get a letter from Citi saying our emailed statement was undelivered due to incorrect email address. Since email on letter was correct, I ignored it. Keep getting robo calls (5-10 per week) even when you answer you can't talk to a person, so I ignored. Yesterday got another letter, again saying our statement is undeliverable and our balance is $78. DH calls today, they look it up, confirm account was closed and balance is zero.
I suspect this is not over but who do I talk to? Any ideas how to straighten this out?
