I love credit cards so much!

Yes. I believe I got a flyer in the mail for it last month. Not sure if I should go for it though since I have no immediate travel plans that aren't paid for and nowhere to park the points until I do. I dont want to pay AF's on a card until then.

You need to decide what you’re comfortable with first. My view is if you’re waiting until you have immediate travel plans to start earning the points you’ll need, it’s probably too late. If you go for either the PRG or Platinum, you should hold it for at least a year before canceling, which gives you a year to line up a no fee Membership Rewards card like the Amex EveryDay or Blue Business Plus to hold your MR points after you cancel the fee card.

DISchurners SURVEY Reminder!

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XY776K3 - give it a click :) This survey is for anybody here and will take 5 minutes or less!

I'll leave the survey open for a week or so and then post results for all to see.

FYI: If you are in 2 player mode - answer the questions combined between both players.
AND make sure you answer all 8 questions (there are 2 pages to the survey) :)

**********************
Here are some early comments on the results thus far:

  • 54 people have responded :)
  • 53 are DISchurners members and 1 intends to join
  • 30 people have shared support links and 56% of those people have received at least 1 click!
  • Approximately 100 support links have been used
  • About 50% of us have joined the game in the past 2 years
  • We've signed up for over 540 cards (averaging > 10 per person) over the past 2 years!
Keep those responses coming and I'll give a lot more insight in a week or so.

Also - PLEASE don't feel bad if you haven't received a support click yet. We all have to start somewhere - and it DOES NOT mean that you aren't appreciated around here. The primary benefit of this group is the great advice we give each other and 99% of folks in this game earn FAR more points from signing up themselves than they do from support clicks. We aren't The Points Guy after all :)

Only 50 karma in 3 months? I could totally do that. Now to decide which of my handles to use. Click_For_Referrals, or ClickForReferrals, or Link_To_Referrals, or LinkToReferrals?

I activated Click_For_Referrals. Look for me on r/churning. I don’t actually have any referrals in my profile. I may eventually. I just want to be ironic right now.

Wait, did I forget you were in the Richmond area too? Goochland? I'm so bad at this :rotfl2: And yes they are! I actually really like Jetblue. I think we are going to stick to driving for this trip, but in the future when I have URs to burn, I'm glad to have this option!

Yes Goochland! We dropped our daughter off at college on Friday (sniff sniff). Now that just 2 of us are flying, I don't mind spending the points.

Received my shiny new CIP today! Perfect timing, as I have to book a work trip for October (using my card), and will be reimbursed by my company :smooth:

Here's to beginning my churning journey!!

The best kind of spend :) I just about :faint: when I checked my category spend on Discover now that all of hubby's work trip expenses have posted. I planned to not max this quarter out because it's restaurants and we don't eat out that much. Between the boss' corp card not working when they officially went out one night and a couple nights of his team giving him cash rather than splitting the bill, we are within striking distance. It was a trip he didn't want to make but we've got freebies for Hilton Biz MSR, Discover first year cashback match, and Chase UR.

I showed him the Discover numbers and he's like 'oh well both my fantasy football drafts are this week, I can probably get those in too, when does the quarter end?'. They go to a bar & restaurant for a few beers and apps and apparently all the guys don't want to bother splitting the bill so in each league all of them give him cash and he throws it on his card. Done that for the last few years, so same guys, most likely will happen again. And they've been lazy and tend round up, so he's been getting most of his own tip money reimbursed even after over tipping the wait staff. I almost asked him why he doesn't go out with these guys more often...

My + P2's 28 personal cards definitely skewed that number :rolleyes1

Hi! I haven't posted here since way back in the beginning of this thread. But I have a question if someone can help.

I applied for the Chase Ink Business card. Did the referral from my husband's account. I have a legitimate business. I'm a self employed hairdresser. I've been in business and filing taxes as a sole proprietor for about 10 years. I did not get instantly approved. And honestly I was kinda shocked. My credit score is 820 at last check. I thought it might have something to do with being a business card.

I got a letter today asking for more info.
"Please send a copy of this letter along with clear, easy to read copies of documents dated within the last three months for the following:

Name of your company
Proof of current business physical address

..some examples are valid gov issued ID, insurance card, current utility bill or an internet or cable bill with the payment stub."

So problem: I work at a salon 2 days a week. But I'm an independent contractor. In essence I pay rent in commision form. (And I do not have any paper receipt of my commision either) I also travel to client's homes. So for my taxes I keep my business address as my home address. I have no bills or anything in my business name. The only thing I have is a business card. But the address on the business card is the salon I work at two days a week. On my application I put my home address because that is where I'm based out of really.

So the only thing I can think of to send is my schedule C. But I'm not really wanting to send that. But it does show my business name-my name really. With my home address.

Any ideas? Is there some other form of ID that is accepted but wasn't listed? Or am I out of luck?

thank you so much for reading!

I've been thinking about doing this too but I wasn't sure how easy it was to cancel those items from the mortgage payment and hold them ourselves. Do you have to have paid down your mortgage and certain amount to be eligible to do that?
I think it depends on your mortgage holder. Mine is Chase. It might depend on things like your payment history and credit score. I doubt how much/long you’ve paid has much bearing as our mortgage is 3 years old and Chase said we’re eligible. It took a simple phone call (which I despise, but was motivated) but it’s perfect timing as our escrow analysis just arrived and insurance is due in October

What did you put down as the “Business Name” and address on the application?

Now, it is time to come full circle and to start enjoying 'Marriott' again. So I will start by trying some of their rooms this fall (with my now half million to be points after I get my bonus for the Lux) and of course as they are deposited, my 5 (discounted) nights. I will be looking at rooms in New England, possibly Boston and the Cape - I hope to get up there late September/early October. If anyone knows of 'winners' please post. Providence used to be my first overnight, at the Westin Providence or the airport Sheraton (when I didn't have a lot of points!) I miss the Westin Providence - the service was exceptional, but I think it has turned into an Omni. They treated me so nicely there!

I can use the $300 credit (easily I'm sure in the Northeast) and make some new memories in the process and also enjoy some of the leaf peeping along the way.

I'm super behind, but wanted to recommend the Liberty Hotel in Boston - it is legacy Starwood. The building used to be a jail, and they have done a really cool renovation. Its just next to the river, on the Boston side of the Longfellow bridge- Charles Street T Stop is right across the street. As SPG Gold (in the old program) we got breakfast, so if you're Plat in the new program, I'd expect the same, and their "continental breakfast" was full served eggs/bacon/toast type breakfast in their restaurant. Neat private bar overlooking the lobby bar (just for hotel guests) and a bar scene that was really fun to watch from above. I also like the Envoy Hotel (Autograph Collection - Marriott property), on the edge of the Seaport District with a nice rooftop bar (not sure how late in the season the rooftop bar stays open). The Liberty is my favorite of the two, but both are a little more interesting than your typical Marriott property.

Hotel AmEx offers:

Marriott spend 300 get $60 expires 10/25

I got that one on my SPG BIz

This is ridiculous - I'm attending a conference at a Marriott property that requires an advance deposit. I first put it on my SPG Biz, before I realized that they were taking a deposit immediately. I'm trying to get my CSR travel credit asap, so I cancelled my reservation yesterday and put it on the CSR instead. My one night deposit is just shy of $300, so I just cancelled the res again and booked it on my SPG again (with the offer) and I'm going to call the hotel and see if I can prepay another $40 or so and get over the $300 line. If they won't take another $30 of my money, I can likely figure out a way to spend that in parking or other charges before 10/25 (I have a couple of points stays coming up).

Logged into YNAB... all my AMEX offer rebates posted so I have a ton of transactions to approve :faint:

Serious first world problems :rotfl:

Argh, I gotta make my bot to find DISsers over there. I've seen you a few times but didn't realize you were a friendly, I'd have thrown more upvotes your way. If I recognize a name from here I just upvote, if you say something that makes me LOL or is an awesomely appropriate reference - upvote, if I just like your name that sometimes gets an upvote, and then if it was a good bit of advice I'll throw an upvote.... honestly I feel that's the order in which most people get votes in my non scientific casual glance poll. So if you get an random upvote on a question with no answers, it was probably a drive by from me
