OFF topic...but since my name is @SouthFayetteFan...

Tonight the South Fayette Lions lost 34-33 to a team one class up. It was a GREAT game. But it ends our 57 game regular season winning streak. To put some perspective on it...the last time SF lost was Oct 2011 and I had only 3 Credit Cards!

At any rate, this is a non-conference game that means nothing to the overall season and the team played very well coming back in the second half so I'm encouraged they'll have a great season!

...Ok - back to your regularly scheduled Churning conversation!
I admire your devotion to your high school team. My high school was a 5A team who won several state championships during my years there and when I was in college. Once I moved away, I lost interest but I'm sure if I still lived close, I'd be as devoted as you are to your team. I just love football :D Are you a Steelers fan also?

Anybody have thoughts on Hong Kong Disneyland? My impression is the park can be done in one full day or two leisurely days (I lean toward leisurely travel  )

Background: I'm looking at using my 7 night cert for a week in Hong Kong and then I remembered HKDL exists and thought about a day trip but now I'm considering adding a night or 2 there before leaving town. (The indoor pool is particularly appealing as it reminds me of pictures of fancy indoor pools that I will never be able to actually swim in- but this one you CAN!)

Which hotel is this? What kind of cert do you have?

@disneymagicgirl have you used the RMN offer for Sam's? How are you paying? I'm trying to decide if I pay with gift cards it will trigger, my credit card charge will be under $45. I dont see why not...

I got the RMN credit to offer for Sam's online offer. I paid with $125 WM GC's and $17.98 on a CC.

ETA: my aunt paid 100% with GC's, I think, and got no RMN credit

Yeah - I follow South Fayette, Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I pretty much watch any and every NFL game that's on...so we're coming into an exciting time of year for us!

We actually plan our fall trip around High School football playoffs and our Jan/Feb trip is always in between the Conf Champ and Super Bowl for the NFL.

Of course...I have a spreadsheet tracking all things high school football so a few random nerdy stats:
  • I've currently attended 28 straight SF games
  • I've gone to 71 of the past 72 games (and 86 of the past 88).
  • Dating back to 2009 I've attended 113 games vs. just 6 missed games (One I was VERY sick and it was on TV; One was my sister's college graduation; One was my grandmother's funeral; One due to terrible weather; One was in an unsafe area too far away; and one time we let a trip to Universal get in the way of a game we knew we'd win by 60+ points).
  • I kind of kick myself over that Florida trip - like we could've flew in Saturday and then I'd be on a 72 game streak...oh well, LOL!
  • Yes...if you've read this far, I literally have a spreadsheet tracking the 6 games I missed and the reason why...
So now you know everything there is to know about me...I love Credit Cards, I love Disney, I love High School Football. That's really me in a nutshell :)

:rotfl:You crack me up!! I cannot believe you have a spreadsheet on your football attendance, or maybe I do believe it really :) I love football. I mostly follow NFL and I watch every game I can. Yes, cannot wait for football season to begin!!! I used to play fantasy football, and before kiddos, I worked in an office where we had a football pool. I won every season and beat all the guys :D But I will watch any and all football put before me. I love high school and college for the bands (and the ravens and redskins). I think that is such a fun addition to the game, and really missed in the NFL.

ETA: I am actually a Steelers fan. Goes back to my teen years in Dallas. Since they were rivals, I developed a distaste for most of Dallas' rivals but something about the Steelers made me like them. Been a fan ever since. Unless they play my Broncos or Dallas, I root for them.

My bad, I brought my black cloud of bad luck too close to your neck of the woods tonight (up North Fayette for the weekend) Send my apologies to the team...

You forgot organ playing:)

On second thought, maybe I will wait a little bit on the Hilton Aspire to give a little breathing room on the MSRs (7k total). How long does it take a Chase card to show up on your credit report?
Mine showed up couple days after first statement closed on all 3 bureaus.

Hello ILCCSM peeps! DH recently got a job where he is driving A LOT. What CC would you recommend for the best return on gas purchases year round?

Most frequent I find is 2%. CIC (up to 25k per year) for UR, Discover it Chrome (up to 1000 per quarter) , Amex BCE are all no AF cards with it. AmEx BCP gets 3% and one of the Citi TY points cards gets 3x ( I'm not a Citi person so I can't recall which one), maybe one of the BoA cash cards too. The Discover card will doubled first year, so effective 4% on that one if don't have it already.
Also some hotel points, 4x both Marriott and SPG Biz's, 5-6x Hilton, 2x IHG.
We like cash for gas, idk y, but will rotate to other cards if we're looking for points.

125,000 SPG Lux offer

Somebody on Reddit reporting they received an email for a 125k point SPG Lux offer. They had already signed up for 100k yesterday.

Pic of email: https://m.imgur.com/a/pfcMmHE

EDIT: now seeing a second report of this offer.

I can confirm this offer as well. Daughter has it in an email for her husband. It's good until Dec 7th, I think.

I wonder if my wife can piggyback off my “long” relationship with Amex. She got her first Amex card in her own name only this year, but her Member Since is the same as mine because I added her as an AU to my PRG when I first got it.

My 26 year old has a member since status with Amex since 2001 because of having an authorized user card from me. So, I think, yes. It should show 'member since' your date on her new card.

Does anyone know...I never created a Marriott account. I only had spg. Dh has both. I opened the Marriott biz in my name recently and met the spend already. I have no idea how to check my points since I never actually had an account with marriott. If I go to create an account, do I use my spg account number?

Marriott may have opened an account for you, unless you added your spg number when you applied for the biz card. Have you checked 'rewards details' on your Marriott Biz log in? If it says points transferred to Marriott, you probably have a Marriott account. Otherwise if you added the SPG number, you could check there. I think it takes Marriott a bit to update the points. I don't think mine were instant.

Most likely- I was an AU on my ex's Plat beginning in 2001 so that's where my 17 year relationship began. Amex love lasted through a divorce :)

So sorry to hear that, it's hard to be the kids on the losing team for the first time in so long, even if it was to a bigger, stronger, better team.

I just love football :D

Of course you do! You're a Texas girl. I used to say Aggie girls understand and love football more than the other conferences' guys (I know I was being sexist...but if you've ever been to an A&M game you might forgive the generalization).

I kind of kick myself over that Florida trip - like we could've flew in Saturday and then I'd be on a 72 game streak...oh well, LOL!

Totally understandable...

and you love spreadsheets. :-)

Haha, every time I see your name, I think of Lafayette, which is in the bayou country of Louisiana. Not quite the same!

Football season is upon us! College starts tonight! My Alma mater is Mississippi State. Clanga clanga!

Trying to generate an SPG Lux link from my SPG Personal. I am not seeing how to do that. I am at the point where I can generate a referral link but not seeing the "more American Express cards" link. Any tips?

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and find a picture of the new SPG Lux card. Click on it. It’ll take you to the referral page for the SPG Lux. Copy the url from your browser.

Generate the personal link and then at the bottom of the personal link you will find it!

If I add my wife as an AU to my oldest AmEx card, one that is well over 24 months old, will it still count against her 5/24?

Not sure about Amex. But when my wife added me as an AU on her old Freedom, that card shows on my credit report as opened on the date she opened it years ago.
