I love credit cards so much!

I wonder if my wife can piggyback off my “long” relationship with Amex. She got her first Amex card in her own name only this year, but her Member Since is the same as mine because I added her as an AU to my PRG when I first got it.
I recently added myself as AU to DH's old amex and my member year changed from 2012 (my Costco amex) to 2008 (his old amex). I just wanted the offers and to add that old card to my AAoA since I have so many new accounts recently.

I got the RMN credit to offer for Sam's online offer. I paid with $125 WM GC's and $17.98 on a CC.

ETA: my aunt paid 100% with GC's, I think, and got no RMN credit
how long did it take to credit. My grocery order still isn't pending. Was delivered yesterday, so I guess I will reach out to them now.

Haha, every time I see your name, I think of Lafayette, which is in the bayou country of Louisiana. Not quite the same!

Football season is upon us! College starts tonight! My Alma mater is Mississippi State. Clanga clanga!

OMG, me too! Go Dawgs! We don't follow them as much as we used to. Can only see them on tv once in awhile up here. We are in Mountaineer country here and have been for over 20 years. Took my DH forever to actually wear Mountaineer gear even though he also has a degree from WVU. He was diehard SEC. And now we will be going to our first Fighting Irish game next week. Will also take some getting used to rooting for them. Have never liked them but DD insists that we get some Mom/Dad gear. lol

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and find a picture of the new SPG Lux card. Click on it. It’ll take you to the referral page for the SPG Lux. Copy the url from your browser.

Still wasn't seeing it and now the page is crashing every time I click on the link. :/

Let us know if you hear anything. I had a Sam's purchase (groceries) never go to pending and I reached out but have not heard anything back at all.

Of the four offers that I linked and used in July, one never linked, three went to pending and have been sitting there ever since. All the offers since then have linked, gone to pending and then posted just fine. Most of the ones that aren't posting were organic spending, not gift cards. Doesn't seem to make any difference.

OMG, me too! Go Dawgs!

My brother graduated from UGA as well and my beloved Bucky (named after the A&M QB when I was there) was related to Uga V (see left).

I wondered where your DD was attending school when you mentioned your drive to drop her off at school. While not SEC, they seem to have a pretty fun football tradition too :)

Since you two have experience with this - figured I'd ask (and anybody else please chime in too)...

I'm going to use URs through my CSR to rent a car for our Sea World trip in November.
  • Do they deduct the URs immediately when you book the car?
  • Can you continue to monitor the price and "rebook" your car to save points if a cheaper price comes out?
  • If you cancel the car do you get your points back?
  • What is the interaction like at the rental car company - is it clear that you don't owe any other money or are they weird about it?
  • I've found articles online that clearly indicate that using URs through a CSR gives you the rental car coverage, so that is cool!
  • Anything else I'm not thinking about here that I should be asking?
I sound like such a newb, lol - I've never used URs before since the last time I had some was early 2016 and I transferred them all to Southwest!
Still playing catch up. I have booked two cars. Using ur points from csr, one I never changed. The other one I changed multiple times. They would cancel and book again. Once the points were back in my account within 1 minute after canceling. Two times it took 30 minutes to have them back in. 1 time it took 24-36 hours to get back in my account. Just make sure to check with the customer service representative on the cancellation policy. Most are refundable but there’s always the one that isn’t. Can’t remember which company it was but they offered a free second driver if you have Usaa. Well couldn’t add another driver at booking. When we picked the car up we asked to have the driver added. Wasn’t a problem at all. Picked up the cars no problem and had coverage like we used the card to pay. Points are taken at booking. Def made it easy to change it multiple times without any problems.

Wrong Dawgs lol. We were referring to Mississippi State. So confusing when there is so many of the same mascot. I was a bulldog for High school and college! I don't think there is another Mountaineer school and I am sure there is no other Dancing Leprechaun Irish dude.

So you can't send a PM here yet (since you don't have 10 posts yet). To join DISchurners - you need a Reddit username. If you have one, just tell me what it is.

IF you don't have one, register at reddit.com (many people use a similar name to their DIS name there). Then tell me that name, you can just do it in a reply right here. I'll get you all setup then!

Does anyone know...I never created a Marriott account. I only had spg. Dh has both. I opened the Marriott biz in my name recently and met the spend already. I have no idea how to check my points since I never actually had an account with marriott. If I go to create an account, do I use my spg account number?
If you didn’t enter a rewards number when you opened the card, Marriott likely gave you a new one. I’m not sure how to find out what it is, calling might be easiest. As far as the bonus, my bonus on my Marriott Biz didn’t post to my rewards account until after my statement closed (along with the points from my spending).

Ok, so I'm back with more questions.

As far as making a referral from DHs CIP for me: Is it possible for me to utilize the business he uses for his CIP? Technically, we are co-owners. I do most of the record keeping, paperwork, etc. Right now, his CIP is set up with an EIN. Could I apply for a CIP using my SSN but the same info as our joint owned business? The argument could be made that we would like two cards to keep production/office areas separate. I'm currently an AU on that account if it makes any difference.

Also, did I read somewhere about an inflight offer with SW having higher bonus points? I'll be flying SW in late November, and that's really the perfect time to apply for cards to get the CP. So now that's starting to sound kind of tempting.

I would say Yes, use the same business and your SSN with your name as the business - do no use a business name with your SSN. I am guessing many here would also tell you to then refer your DH back using his SSN!

It's not printed on the back of your card is it? My old personal Marriott had my account number on the back.

My CSR two year date is fast approaching!!! I am seriously in love with this card. Between the 100k bonus I got, x3 travel credits, pre TSA status, lounge access for 5 girlfriends (before the restrictions), and multiple amazing UR redemptions (hotels, a cruise) I don’t want to break up. BUT I’d love more URs.

Tentative plan -
1. I’ll have DH upgrade recently downgraded CSP (now a CF) to CSR to hold our rewards and still get benefits. He is 4/24 but he got the CSP 6/17 so is bonus ineligible for a while. Is this even possible???

2. Cancel (sniff, sniff) my CSR or downgrade but it would be my 3rd freedom not sure that’s allowed. I don’t need CFU as DH has one. Canceling will free up 20k CL with Chase.

3. A month after I become 4/24 I’ll apply for CIP. My last Chase app was 4/18 (Marriott premier)

4. Double dip 4 months later CSP/CSR OR get something else because I will become 3/24 in March if I stay business or don’t want to take up 2 spots right away. I want Hyatt badly but also that’s Chase and possibly not contingent on 5/24. Decisions......any input greatly appreciated.

MY STATS
CSR 9/16
SPG 3/17
SW premier 1/18 (double dip for CP)
SW PLUS 1/18
Marriott premier 4/18

Older cards: Capitol one venture visa and cap one MasterCard, CF (pc’d from CSP, then PCd again from CFU) and an original CF.

DH 4/24 (though one is AU on AMEX)

CF 6/17 PC from CSP)
SPG 3/17 (AU ONLY)
CFU 4/18 (3x point offer)
Chase Marriott 6/18

Also AU on my CF, CFU, and both Cap Ones (all old)
ETA: also some recent AMEX activity but they are all biz cards. Going to chill with AMEX for a bit with all these recent DPs

I think your plan on CIP is excellent. AND I would echo @WVMomof3 that you could later refer him back to CIP using his SSN. That CIP offer is like a golden goose for you guys!!

SW does seem to have an in-flight offer that includes both PLUS and PREMIER for 50,000 points (I'm not sure what the in-flight offer is on their new PRIORITY card because they recently changed offers on it). If you weren't aware, There are generally 2 ways people get a SW companion pass: 1 SW Biz + 1 SW Personal OR Double Dip 2 SW Personal cards. Good Luck - welcome to our little group. Hang around and post more and we'll be happy to discuss any strategies with you.

Sorry I was confused...but your bulldog I've always thought (Tonka, Champ, Jax) is adorable (possibly more so than Uga but don't tell...).

There are some pretty odd mascots out there, aren't there? Not that I can talk since my school is a bunch of farmers --nothing really intimidating about that:sad1:.

Regarding #2 - so based on a signup of 09/16 your AF may not post until 10/1/18 and you have 30 days after that to downgrade or cancel so you potentially could hold your CSR until 10/30/18 and then should have no issue downgrading to a CF.

#3 - you'll be 4/24 in Sept (and you could wait until Oct to play it safe if you wanted). Going for a CIP sounds EXCELLENT!

#4 - not a bad plan BUT it does put you back up to 5/24...at 3/24, you could potentially get 1 personal card, another biz card or 2, still be 4/24 AND THEN double dip. But do what you feel is best :)

Ok so that brings us back to #1 - It should be easy to upgrade his CF to CSR if you need to...however: IF you plan to do a double dip in Jan 2019 for yourself...you don't have to have your husband upgrade (unless there is some pressing reason you need a CSR between 10/30/18 and Jan 2019. If you can go without a CSR for those 2-3 months then don't waste the money on the upgrade :) NOW IF you decide to delay your double dip based on what I said in #4 above, it might make more sense for him to upgrade since you would be "without" a CSR for a long time. Another consideration there is how many URs do you have and how do you plan to use them (if you don't have a ton left OR if you plan to transfer them to a partner, then a CSR isn't necessary - your CIP may do just fine).

Does your husband’s business have a name? If it does and is an actual business I might just use that as the name. I have used the official business name for my husband and he has not had any trouble holding now all 3 Ink cards. It is a side business for sure as he has a full time job still, but he has the licensing etc to back it up. When I got my Ink I just put my name as business and they ended up calling with all sorts of questions about it. I would apply however you feel most comfortable if you end up having a possible conversation with Chase about it.
