I love credit cards so much!

A couple questions I tried to google but didn't find any answers:
-If I book 3 nights at a category 3 or 4 Marriott hotel and then a 4th night in a row using my cat 1-4 certificate, will that qualify me for a 5th night free? I'm assuming it would but I would probably need to call in to get the reservation squared away.
-Just applied and was approved for the SPG Amex Bus card, wondering if I will still receive the 15 nights and when I should expect to see my account updated with that infor?
Thanks all!

Ok, so I'm back with more questions.

As far as making a referral from DHs CIP for me: Is it possible for me to utilize the business he uses for his CIP? Technically, we are co-owners. I do most of the record keeping, paperwork, etc. Right now, his CIP is set up with an EIN. Could I apply for a CIP using my SSN but the same info as our joint owned business? The argument could be made that we would like two cards to keep production/office areas separate. I'm currently an AU on that account if it makes any difference.

Also, did I read somewhere about an inflight offer with SW having higher bonus points? I'll be flying SW in late November, and that's really the perfect time to apply for cards to get the CP. So now that's starting to sound kind of tempting.

Yes for the SW personal card there is a 50,000 point offer in flight...if your. Husband opens that and the SW business card you’ll have the 110,000 points for the CP..just make sure to complete the spend in January 2019 so you have the CP for 2019 and 2020

As far as the CIP....I’m not sure if Chase would consider the business already having a CIP since your using the same EIN and business name your husband did. I’d think it would be safer to use your own name and SS number to,open the card...

I bet Marriott can figure out how to do question 1 for you. Maybe it would make sense to book the property for the 5 nights then call to ask them to refund 1 night’s points and exchange it to your cert. Report back if you are successful :)

Regarding #2 - so based on a signup of 09/16 your AF may not post until 10/1/18 and you have 30 days after that to downgrade or cancel so you potentially could hold your CSR until 10/30/18 and then should have no issue downgrading to a CF.

#3 - you'll be 4/24 in Sept (and you could wait until Oct to play it safe if you wanted). Going for a CIP sounds EXCELLENT!

#4 - not a bad plan BUT it does put you back up to 5/24...at 3/24, you could potentially get 1 personal card, another biz card or 2, still be 4/24 AND THEN double dip. But do what you feel is best :)

Ok so that brings us back to #1 - It should be easy to upgrade his CF to CSR if you need to...however: IF you plan to do a double dip in Jan 2019 for yourself...you don't have to have your husband upgrade (unless there is some pressing reason you need a CSR between 10/30/18 and Jan 2019. If you can go without a CSR for those 2-3 months then don't waste the money on the upgrade :) NOW IF you decide to delay your double dip based on what I said in #4 above, it might make more sense for him to upgrade since you would be "without" a CSR for a long time. Another consideration there is how many URs do you have and how do you plan to use them (if you don't have a ton left OR if you plan to transfer them to a partner, then a CSR isn't necessary - your CIP may do just fine).
Thanks!! I guesss I’m just nervous going without a CSR like at al, I forgot CIP had same transfer options. We have a trip scheduled for 2/19 disney, cruise, uso (almost 100% paid with points and Swagbuck earnings or other discount avenues). We MAY do a weekend in NYC or something but I’m sitting on like 500K Marriott rewards. Only 7k URs right now so not a pressing need for redemption. Good point. However I will get 80k UR if CIP approves. Plus if DH gets CSR we can essentially get $300 credit x2 once upon his opening and then downgrade him after a year but after using the travel credit.....

Now if I delay the double dip what do you recommend? Maybe a CIC or what personal card? I’m afraid to hit Chase too hard?

125,000 SPG Lux offer

Somebody on Reddit reporting they received an email for a 125k point SPG Lux offer. They had already signed up for 100k yesterday.

Pic of email: https://m.imgur.com/a/pfcMmHE

EDIT: now seeing a second report of this offer.
DH got an email yesterday for 125k now it’s starting to temp me in having him apply but need to see how much spend we have coming up.

Ok, so I'm back with more questions.

I would have your DH refer you for the CIP using your ssn. I wouldn’t do the csr/csp until a year out from when you plan to go on travel. That way you can benefit from using the 1.5x redemption to book your disney trip. You can use your ur to book your room, add tickets, add dining plan if desired. You could do your whole trip free on points if you wanted to.

Since we have been talking football I called an audible this morning. Upgraded my personal SPG to the Lux since I had the 100k offer. Doctor of Credit posted earlier that the annual fee will be prorated and that the $300 credit is calendar year. Since my card anniversary is April that will work out I think.

@wendow you did not have trouble using Plastiq on your mortgage through Amex? I think you said before it helped meet the spend and the bonus wasn’t clawed back or anything?

It was just way too easy to do; just pushed the upgrade now and I was approved. 15k in 4 months (with $5k in 3). Hopefully it will work out and not be a huge mistake!

Definitely CIC, not really sure what personal cards would interest you (and yes you’d need to commit to play it slow with Chase). Perhaps it’s just a CIC then double dip. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you’re considering so just think it thru and do what you think is best :)

Great thanks so much for you advice!!! I’m also going to refer DH to the CIP either December or next year to go slow with Chase. Thanks so much!!!!

Hi! I also got the got 100k upgrade. My understanding is the $300 credit won’t go in affect until your anniversary renewal date (mine is 3/19). That was through an AMEX CSR so I trust DOC more

Are the MasterCards from staples Good for using on plastiq? Thinking of getting some while there’s no fee.

ETA: are there are cash back sites that credit for buying gc from staples?

I feel like I'm missing out by not getting a last minute Marriott or SPG card today.

DH got the SPG personal 4/18. He's currently at 2/24, getting the CIP on 5/18 and a Venture card 7/18.

We are not working on any MSR right now.

I'd like it to be DH to get a card and not me since I'm at 3/24 and hoping to double dip SW later this year for a CP.

Any advice on if we should go for one? I don't want the one with a $450 AF. If not that one what is the next best option?

The SPG Amex Bus card would not add to x/24, is a $5000 spend for 100,000 points, AF waived the first year. I think that would be your best option.

One thing I never really see talked about. To clarify, what cards can you transfer UR's to partners. Only CSR, CIP and CSP? That may change my pc to a CSP so I can still transfer to Hyatt.

DP on SPG lux card. It did not arrive yesterday for either of us  We were seriously hoping it would since we might be able to use the statement credit this weekend and get started on the MSR. DH was able to get his new cc information and hopefully the hotel would allow us to use it. We are at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota for a wedding. We got lucky and the hotel allowed DH to just give them the cc information to use for the charges. I am hoping that we did get a statement credit. The T&C states participating SPG and Marriott properties but doesn’t give you a list of any that are specifically included or excluded so I’m not sure how that may go. Either way, it goes towards the MSR. The property is lovely but we’ve got red tide in full force here so I’m not going anywhere near the water.

You have an EIN? Get excited. You could apply using the company EIN since you are an authorizing officer of the company as an owner.

Then you can each apply for another CIP for your other “business” using just your SSN and First Last for the business name- we’ve all got a side hustle of some sort or other, rental property, eBay, etc.

My parents successfully did this so I know it works!

You could end up with 380k URs for $380.

My CSR two year date is fast approaching!!! I am seriously in love with this card. Between the 100k bonus I got, x3 travel credits, pre TSA status, lounge access for 5 girlfriends (before the restrictions), and multiple amazing UR redemptions (hotels, a cruise) I don’t want to break up. BUT I’d love more URs.

Tentative plan -
1. I’ll have DH upgrade recently downgraded CSP (now a CF) to CSR to hold our rewards and still get benefits. He is 4/24 but he got the CSP 6/17 so is bonus ineligible for a while. Is this even possible???

2. Cancel (sniff, sniff) my CSR or downgrade but it would be my 3rd freedom not sure that’s allowed. I don’t need CFU as DH has one. Canceling will free up 20k CL with Chase.

3. A month after I become 4/24 I’ll apply for CIP. My last Chase app was 4/18 (Marriott premier)

4. Double dip 4 months later CSP/CSR OR get something else because I will become 3/24 in March if I stay business or don’t want to take up 2 spots right away. I want Hyatt badly but also that’s Chase and possibly not contingent on 5/24. Decisions......any input greatly appreciated.

MY STATS
CSR 9/16
SPG 3/17
SW premier 1/18 (double dip for CP)
SW PLUS 1/18
Marriott premier 4/18

Older cards: Capitol one venture visa and cap one MasterCard, CF (pc’d from CSP, then PCd again from CFU) and an original CF.

DH 4/24 (though one is AU on AMEX)

CF 6/17 PC from CSP)
SPG 3/17 (AU ONLY)
CFU 4/18 (3x point offer)
Chase Marriott 6/18

Also AU on my CF, CFU, and both Cap Ones (all old)
ETA: also some recent AMEX activity but they are all biz cards. Going to chill with AMEX for a bit with all these recent DPs

I need to do the same for DH's CSR and let him DD the sapphires. He is eligible now, but like you, I am so attached to that card! Following to see your plans.

SW does seem to have an in-flight offer that includes both PLUS and PREMIER for 50,000 points (I'm not sure what the in-flight offer is on their new PRIORITY card because they recently changed offers on it). If you weren't aware, There are generally 2 ways people get a SW companion pass: 1 SW Biz + 1 SW Personal OR Double Dip 2 SW Personal cards. Good Luck - welcome to our little group. Hang around and post more and we'll be happy to discuss any strategies with you.

Dang really!? I looked for the 50k plus offer on my flight earlier this month and only saw premier. Where do you find plus?
