I love credit cards so much!

Ok, I have a couple of Marriott Rewards Credit Card questions now that DH and I have the card and are well on our way to meeting the minimum 3 month spend to get the 100,000 points. We will probably hit the $3000 spend in two months. Both cars broke down, the air conditioner broke down and DH had to order a bunch of customer calendars for work. Luckily we'll be able to pay it all off monthly from our savings.

When do I need to get a Marriott Rewards number? How do I hook the CC to the number? This is probably my most important question!

Do the 100,000 points get credited as soon as the statement closes after we meet the $3000 spend?

I read that I can make my reservation 50 weeks in advance. My window is quickly approaching. I also read that I can make a points reservation even if all the points aren't in my account yet. I just have to have earned them before my stay, correct?

Also I want to book 5 consecutive nights. I read that if I do that, I get the 5th night free, correct?

Thanks for all your help!!!!

Happy Sunday afternoon all! Just popping in to say...this is the absolute nicest corner of the Internet. Everyone's always so helpful in answering questions and patient with newbies like me!

(why yes, I DID get a lot of snarky comments for asking a simple question in my local subreddit, however did you know? ;) )

Every Friday I go to PNC and deposit MO’s and the same banker trys to sell me their credit card. Every time I make up an excuse. Today he asked if I started building my credit yet LOL He then asked how with a secured card? LOL I was just like no I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Totally agree. I'm just getting started and people here have been so patient and helpful. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: Called out by one who knew their game and didn’t care about having the middle seat, lol. Guess someone should have booked what they wanted instead of manipulating the seating chart. Gotta say it’s prob rare someone who doesn’t want to switch out of the middle though!

Yep, I thought it was pretty funny. Their plan backfired. I’ve flown quite a bit in the past few years and there are never empty seats, so I don’t understand the logic of trying to get the whole row for 2 people. I bet the daughter wasn’t happy with mom LOL

He'll be the one enjoying the five and a half hours of me talking over top of him loudly to my DH :rotfl2: I'm petty and have no shame so it won't bother me a bit!

Have fun with that.

We just flew SW to PHX and I couldn’t believe how many people only purchased EBCI for one person in their party and then proceeded to “reserve” 3 rows of seats while flight attendants were standing saying nothing to them. I don’t typically mind people buying 1 EBCI and saving the other 2 seats in their row but really 3 rows :(

Yeah that’s rediculous. Planes are too full to expect to get empty seats. I know a lot of people like SW but I don’t. I hate jockeying for seats and not having one reserved, it’s stressful.

Yeah that's ridiculous. I'd be mad at that too. But I don't considering booking an aisle and a window seat as the same thing. Especially since there are still 50 seats available on our flight lol.

I do. Like I said before, it’s reserving a seat someone else could get. Now that person has to sit in the back while someone else who may get to switch with the people who do this, get to sit toward the front. People should just reserve the seat they want and be done. These games are lame. Maybe if more people stood their ground like the guy on my flight, then people wouldn’t do it.

Hey Folks, I'm still getting into this churning thing and need some advice on booking flights for an upcoming WDW trip.

I should have 94,535 UR points in my new CIP account after my bonus that should post tomorrow
I have 22,329 UR points on my Freedom
My wife has 38,708 points and a Companion Pass (I am currently her companion) on her SW RR account

Since we have a companion pass we need to purchase 3 roundtrip tickets for our family of 4 which total about 139,434. Can I transfer my UR points to my wife's RR account so we can purchase these tickets using her RR points? TIA

Transfer your 22,329 UR from your Freedom to combine with the 94,535 UR on your CIP. Add your wife as an “employee” cardholder (effectively, an authorized user) on your CIP. You should now be able to transfer your combined URs (or however much you need) on your CIP to your wife’s RR account once she is an authorized user on the CIP and since she shares the same household.

I believe this should work on a biz card, although I’ve never personally tested it. The general rule is you can transfer UR points to a spouse’s loyalty account with a Chase travel partner if they are an authorized user of the card and share the same household. The reason you wouldn’t want to add your wife as an AU on the Freedom is AU accounts will count against her 5/24, unless your Freedom is more than 24 months old. Requesting an employee card for your wife on the CIP won’t show up as a new account on her credit reports, and therefore won’t count against your 5/24.
I agree with @Lain

Just a follow up...I flew with my family last week and heard a conversation a few rows behind us. Apparently a woman and her daughter booked the window and aisle seats with the intention of switching with the middle seat person. The man refused and said something like “I’m not playing” when the mom asked him to switch. The daughter looked to be in her 20s. So there are people who won’t switch or maybe prefer the middle seat.
Man + mom + daughter in 20’s...these details are making me think that perhaps this guy had some sort of creepy intentions for wanting to sit between them. Haha.

If you didn’t have a Marriott number when you applied, they assigned you one. It’s usually printed on your credit card. Mine is on the back, lower left side.

Oh, they weren’t expecting to get an empty seat. They were just too cheap to pay the extra for 8 other people they were reserving seats for. And I don’t why to the 2 SW flight attendants who were standing right by those rows didn’t tell them that was unacceptable. I think that’s their job. Why should the passenger you might want that row be the bad guy. And, of course, I didn’t want to be confrontational with my 11 year old with me so we just kept walking until we found an empty row.

I just tried to combine my CF UR points with my CIP and I got “This card is not eligible to receive points from you at this time”. Both accounts are mine. Does anyone know why this would happen? Has it happened to anyone else? I just PC’d my CSP to the CF about a month ago. My CIP has about 96,000 UR points.

So I had Amex offers at Bed Bath & Beyond and BuyBuyBaby, purchased a $50 Disney GC at each (fortunately they are next to each other) with $5 off each. Also bought $150in Disney GCs at Sam’s with the $15 off 50, used 2 different Amex cards for $30 off. All purchases are pending but I got emails on the BBB ones, but not Sam’s.
Not a problem, right?
Also this should finish my spend on SPG Card but wanted to confirm via chat. Can’t seem to get chat function to work. Is it not open on weekends? Should I wait until tomorrow?

Is your card linked to anyone else? Like does a spouse transfer points to your CIP?

Oh yeah, I’ve seen that too on SW flights. Not for that many, but I’ve seen couples save seats for each other. I don’t like the whole SW system and it isn’t cheap to fly them like it used to be so I avoid them if I can. I know airlines say no seat is guaranteed but I’d rather not deal with wondering if I’ll get to sit with my family or not.

I’ve had numerous non SW flights where my whole family (3 of us) couldn’t sit together. Usually my DH ends up in another row, sometimes because we book on points. His might be booked from his account, mine & DSs on my account. And they move him.
