I love credit cards so much!

so Dh MSR on Hilton Ascend upgrade is done thanks to realty taxes:crazy: no need for plastiq I just used their site....
just wondering about this tho- do bonus offer points for the upgrade post differently than regular points? b/c a regular spend would've shown the points by now.....(75k!)

But don’t points have to post before 8/1?

There’s been a lot of debate about this on churning. I’m in the camp that the SPG cards earn 1 Starpoint per $1 until 8/1, which will be converted to 3 Marriott points when the statement closes and points post. Base points earned on and after 8/1 will post as only 2 Marriott points.

Does anyone know when the bonus points hit on the Hilton Biz? I thought with my last statement (posted yesterday) I met the MSR but I do not see my bonus points
Update on my question. I did chat with a CSR yesterday. Very pleasant and easy. First she confirmed I had met the MSR. She also said that points should post at the end of the stmt and my stmt just closed on the 19th so it might be a few days. That seemed different to what I heard from most here but I didn't bring that up. Just said I would check my Hilton acct in a few days. I did screen shot the chat where she said I met MSR! I signed in later that evening and the points are in my acct. Not sure if my chatting had anything to do with it, timing seems odd but now that I have them time to just move on. Still have like 100 to go on DH Hilton so I'll see how that goes.

Ok well maybe I’ll spend more today. Lol

They would have to be in the SPG account by the time they do the conversion is how I read it. Been looking for more details as I just realized I missed July's statement closing, now that I can finally use some of the offers. :headache: So I don't know what happens to the "limbo" points from now until 8/1. They won't post until after the earnings change so since I'd be buying at 1:1 right now, would that mean when they post in Aug they post exactly as earned 1:1 and they're now worth a 1/3 less than they had before? Or will AmEx do a special points push so that all points earned by Aug 1 are in your loyalty account before the conversion? Or something else crazy? Don't know.

I think we've all assumed the conversion to be Aug 1 since that was announced for the CC changes, but technically they haven't stated the exact date for the points merger. I can't find the blog post now, but somewhere there was a question posed to a Marriott exec whereby he answered that they didn't announce the date of the change. And to be fair, from what I see they consistently said August or in August. AmEx, however, likes to throw dates around and said this: "SPG® announced changes to its loyalty program beginning August 1, 2018. At the time of the program change, the Starpoint balance in a loyalty member account will convert to points at a 1:3 ratio (one Starpoint will convert to three points)." This is why I thought the conversion would be Aug 1, but the sentence just states "At the time of the program change.." All changes are beginning Aug 1 but that doesn't necessarily mean the points program change will happen that date (I hope, I hope). But they didn't actually say what happens to points earned but not actually in your loyalty member account at the time of the change. I assume points on the amex aren't considered in your loyalty account until they're actually in the SPG account. Grr. Even if they don't do it Aug 1, I'm pretty sure it'll get done before my next statement closes so I think I'll be missing points; unless they decide to be nice and do the special points push like the bonuses. (not holding my breath but it'd be nice :) )

ohhhhhhh I had completely overlooked this point! I have to get to Lowes with my spg biz tomorrow!!! I wonder how much in gc I can buy at one time...anyone know? I think the offer is up to 1k spend/10% back..... I WISH I could figure out a way to use that spg resorts 300/60 offer right now...any ways other than an actual stay?
You may have trouble with lowes buying all $1000 at once. Some were having activation issue when they walked out. i personally did $400 and then $600. no problems. Amazon Gift cards were purchased.
Staples, i did the full $1000 and i did it online, i purchased Home Depot gift cards.

I just called Amex and was told it’s based on when the points post. Yikes. I’m cutting it close because my statement closes Friday.
Yeah but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I assumed it was spending before 8/1.

"From now through July 31, 2018:Earn 2 Starpoints® for every dollar of eligible purchases on the Card at participating SPG® and Marriott Rewards® hotels. Earn 1 Starpoint for all other eligible purchases."

if be false advertising here if what you say is true.

I hear you but I still am not taking the chance. It’s not clear to me when a point is earned (I.e., when I purchase or when they give me the points.)

I'm mourning the idea of a lost opportunity on the certs due to timing.

This is what I'm grappling with as well. I don't want to attach it unless I'm pretty sure on dates, but I know the lost opportunity cost for this hotel is about $1000 a week. That's what is making me want to attach it even if I'm 100% on the dates. UGH!!!

BTW, I also wanted to update my Marriott Travel Package error with the miles--I purchased Alaska and they gave me United. My 1 hour phone call paid off! I didn't check yesterday so not sure when they posted, but I now have the Alaska miles and the United miles are gone out of the account. I'd asked them to expedite the Alaska miles since by that point I'd already been waiting 11 days so they must have done that as well. So all in all, not a nightmare as I feared. And yay, I now have the miles I wanted!!!

With those miles I realized I'm sitting on about 1 million miles/points now in different
accounts. Crazy! A good chunk of those will hopefully be used soon for Japan. Does anyone have a list handy of the maximum points you are allowed to transfer to certain airlines? I'm wondering how close I cut it before I make a decision on the flights I'm going to go for.

Hey Folks, I'm still getting into this churning thing and need some advice on booking flights for an upcoming WDW trip.

I should have 94,535 UR points in my new CIP account after my bonus that should post tomorrow
I have 22,329 UR points on my Freedom
My wife has 38,708 points and a Companion Pass (I am currently her companion) on her SW RR account

Since we have a companion pass we need to purchase 3 roundtrip tickets for our family of 4 which total about 139,434. Can I transfer my UR points to my wife's RR account so we can purchase these tickets using her RR points? TIA

Quick DP - Just bought WDW tickets using UR. I called Chase travel and spoke with Candice. I told her I wanted to buy WDW tickets directly from Disney and not a third part. Less than 10 min later I got the confirmation # and was able to link to my Disney experience!:tigger:
I asked if it was possible to buy party tickets as well and she said it is! So in a couple weeks I will be calling her back and getting out Halloween Party tickets!:earboy2:
That was such an easy experience! I am very impressed!
Buy the way I just got those points deposited in my account last week! I guess I am a earn and burn them as fast as I can :moped:

That's great about the party tickets. I booked a room about a month ago and was told no on the party tickets. I'll try to call and get someone else.

My next quest is the spend for my Amtrak card. Just finished the Marriott Biz spend.

Perhaps by the time I finish the Amtrak we will know what the SPG luxury bonus will be!

Yes, hoping the person switches with us. But given how empty the plane looks like right now, I’m finding it unlikely it will be full. I see there are several other rows that look similar to ours while there are still multiple full rows available, so I’m thinking multiple couples have probably done this.

If the person doesn’t want to switch... well... I’m loud and DH has described me as “abrasive, at best” so they’ll probably regret their decision 5 hours later when I lean over them for the 76th time to tell DH show excited I am to go to DL :rotfl2:

Just a follow up...I flew with my family last week and heard a conversation a few rows behind us. Apparently a woman and her daughter booked the window and aisle seats with the intention of switching with the middle seat person. The man refused and said something like “I’m not playing” when the mom asked him to switch. The daughter looked to be in her 20s. So there are people who won’t switch or maybe prefer the middle seat.

Transfer your 22,329 UR from your Freedom to combine with the 94,535 UR on your CIP. Add your wife as an “employee” cardholder (effectively, an authorized user) on your CIP. You should now be able to transfer your combined URs (or however much you need) on your CIP to your wife’s RR account once she is an authorized user on the CIP and since she shares the same household.

I believe this should work on a biz card, although I’ve never personally tested it. The general rule is you can transfer UR points to a spouse’s loyalty account with a Chase travel partner if they are an authorized user of the card and share the same household. The reason you wouldn’t want to add your wife as an AU on the Freedom is AU accounts will count against her 5/24, unless your Freedom is more than 24 months old. Requesting an employee card for your wife on the CIP won’t show up as a new account on her credit reports, and therefore won’t count against your 5/24.
