Ooooh I have a 10% back at Exxon gas stations offer on my Hilton Amex! Up to $100 through August. I have an Exxon right near work and since I'm only $95 away from maxing my CF, I won't be using Kroger Fuel as much anymore.

I was telling DH the other night, because we've got that on 3 cards... that it's actually cheaper than Kroger anyways unless we have lots of fuel points to use.

I go, if you pay through the app you get 10 cents off, then 10% back on AMEX... and he goes, That's really complicated. You have to find a gas station, and an app, and a card... Apps are not that scary, you use them everyday!

Hi Everyone! We are back from our few weeks in Europe for our anniversary. It was FABULOUS! We were in Lake Como, Amsterdam, and a cruise to Norway. We flew business there and economy back by transferring 200k miles to United via CSR. We also took an EasyJet flight that was "paid" for with the CSR travel credit. A little bit of the cruise and part of our AirBnB was also covered with our remaining travel credits.

I am so glad I jumped on this thread (lurking mostly) in January 2017 and applied for the CSR on the last day of the online 100k bonus. Without it, DH would not have experienced business class and now somewhat "gets it". He doesn't roll his eyes as much when I tell him what card to use.

Thanks to the experts, non-experts, and question askers. I read (almost) every response and ask a few questions when I have them. I probably won't be reading the 200+ pages that I missed, so if there was any big news over the last 2.5 weeks, and someone has the time to post, I would so appreciate it.

Now to go see which card to get next and see if there are any travel plans I can cook up.

I got an offer on the Hilton Biz - buy Hilton gift card $100+ and get $20. Does anyone know if you can use the GC to pay for a room? Will need cheap one night place close to the airport in September and thinking I could use this at a Hampton or Garden Inn to cover most of the cost. Also do you think the GC will count toward MSR?

It's called Speedpass. Apparently you link your card, tell it what pump you're at, etc. I haven't tried it yet.

And Exxon is on swagbucks local for 2%, plus there is a phone app called Dosh that is also 2% back. You get $5 from Dosh for linking your first card, and you can get I think $10 if someone supports you when they download it - I might do that for DH even though he'll never use it.

This conversation made me think to do that haha! Dosh is sort of like SB Local, you link your cards and then if you make a purchase at one of the places around you it should track. I'm also new to Dosh though

Yes you can use them to pay for the room, although I haven't tried an advance pay rate. Both hotels I used them at said to apply them at checkout, so I just stopped by the desk on the way out. They do take a minute to process so if you have a few leave yourself 5-10 minutes to complete checkout. But I was willing to invest the time to save 16% (my return on the previous offer).

I'm no expert on MSR, personally I think it'd be ok, but I'll let others chime in on that.

CSR gurus and Marriot gurus: I have the new Premeir Plus for the 100k bonus. First time reward with them so I dont know all the secrets etc. But it looks like Marriott hotels are cheaper thru Chase portal, way less points. So should I just use as a backup (1 free night in hotel) and focus on my CSR portal? It looks like at $200 hotel would get me 1200 points. Not much since hotels are so point heavy. Am I missing something?

We are heading to Alaska and Hawaii in the next 2 years so I figured I could use that 100k bonus from Marriott.

Thanks. Checked again didn’t have it, maybe next time. But I’m happy to report that my welcome bonus is showing on my Hilton Biz. Met the MSR end of last week. And I completed the MSR on my CIP today.

Now thinking about the next one. Well, actually I started thinking about what’s next before I completed the two above. What’s wrong with me.

Oh bummer you don't have the Lowe's deal. Try adding some other deals onto your cards. After I did that then the Lowe's deal showed up.

marriott points is best used with the Flights and Nights package. one example is spending 270k marriott points can get u 120k alaska points + a 7 night stay at a cat 1-5. There are lower miles deal package.
so yes, if its cheaper on CSR portal, use that until u find otherwise.
a $200 hotel should cost you 12,000 pts ($120) right? 1200 pts($12) seems a bit too less.

Question on Amex MR. When do they usually post? My first statement closed yesterday and it showing I have 0 MR points. Do they usually take a few days? I haven't had an MR card before.

I have a friend who doesn’t like to use a credit card and would rather pay cash for everything. Twice last week, I offered to charge it and take his cash and he was fine with it. SCORE! $300 extra on my MSR!!

On my weekend trip in NOLA my friend let me charge everything to my cards. She does have a 2% cashback card that she usually uses for herself but she said she knows how much I love points so she'd just pay me back for her portion of the weekend. (And she's the type who has already sent me the cash!) #truefriendship
