@SouthFayetteFan dumb math question for you:

298.5 UR points - how much is that worth if redeemed through CSP for travel?

(I know it is not enough to do any travel with - trying to figure out if I should make a certain purchase with Amex and get MR instead and cash back instead...)

Edit: is the answer about $3.73? LOL - if so I am going with the Amex cash back offer!

That's what my math says, since CSP is 1.25 redemption for travel.

For anyone who didn't get the Lowe's 10% back up to $100 on any of their AMEX biz cards, check again! I only had Staples, but just checked and now the Lowe's deal shows up! Woohoo!

Thanks. Checked again didn’t have it, maybe next time. But I’m happy to report that my welcome bonus is showing on my Hilton Biz. Met the MSR end of last week. And I completed the MSR on my CIP today. :cool1: :dancer:

Now thinking about the next one. Well, actually I started thinking about what’s next before I completed the two above. What’s wrong with me. :confused3

Is she the kind to stay on top of rotating categories, or have any interest in them? I have a fam member who HATES rotating categories, like they just get really annoyed with rotating categories and so far the the CFU has left them much happier. Really just depends on the person.
I can activate them for her but she’d never max them. She goes out to eat a few times a month, pays for a little gas (mostly driving to Dr appointments) Does some online shopping for Christmas and bday gifts. I was thinking she could use the signup bonus, and then I can put some recurring bills on there and she would just use it for anyplace that doesn’t take Discover. She uses her Discover for everything and has all the bills set to autopay, never checks on them (drives me nuts, I am soo my dad in the detail department)

Looking for cashback, no AF she can keep long term. AARP sounds interesting, I’ll look into it. But I don’t have that card so I can’t refer her :rolleyes1

Sounds like you should get the AARP card and then refer her! I'm actually thinking this would be a good card for my daughter since restaurants and gas are her two primary chargeable expense categories.

1. Used a support link!
2. Set up Hilton BIZ and was denied!
3. Set up CIP. So far so good. Looks like payment should be in 3 days. I set this one early (due on 30th) just to see how it goes. Then I can set up recurring next month.

Thanks for the help and the primer on reddit.

After it goes through on CIP you can try to set it up recurring and then go in and change the payment method on the recurring to AMEX. That might work.
ETA: you might want to try putting a diff category, unless it is something obvious like Toyota.

Peel - now you've got me wanting to cross the Newport Bridge this summer! I've half had it in mind as I go up there every few years and drive down into my old neighbourhood to bring back a lot of happy memories. I lived there from 1983-1986 as a Navy wife. My son was born in Newport Naval hospital in 1984, one of the last before they closed the hospital on base and my oldest started kindergarten there. It always looks so different to me than it did before they changed the base. I made one of my best friends there although we never see each other as she now lives in South Carolina. Funny thing - the last couple of weeks I've gotten a mailer from a hotel on Goat Island - someone renovated the property. Gurney Resorts I think it is. The last half of July is already booked solid on their website and there isn't even a cup race that I can see. We've stayed in that hotel many years back and used to go there for Sunday brunches.

Did you drive out around Brenton Point? To me this is one of the most beautiful places! I have to get back! Thanks for the memories.

I'm jealous that you got to live there! I've visited every few years since I was a kid. I'm in CT, and my aunt had a summer home on Green Hill Beach in South Kingston, so we used to stay there and make trips into Newport. I've also been to the Folk Festival a few times. I've always loved the architecture of the colonial homes on the island, and of course the mansions. If I've ever been to Breton Point I don't remember it. I'll add it to the list for next year! We were really happy with the place we stayed, although it was a little unorthodox being a time share property that also rented rooms as if it were a hotel. It's called The Wellington Resort. We were right on Thames, but set back from the road so that the buildings were along the water's edge. We walked everywhere.

ETA: I just looked up Gurney's Resort. WOW!!!!

Just checked my Amex Offers and noticed this one on my PRG and MB Plat:

Unless something has changed, there are not referrals for AARP Card. There never were while I held them at least.

We finally signed our HELOC papers today so I was going to go home and apply for CIP. But he said he won’t submit stuff till Friday because we have 3 days to change our mind so then I wondered if I need to wait till Friday??

You should be good. When I got my HE Loan earlier this year they printed the check same day I signed the papers but had to hold it for 3 days because of the right to rescind period. I just went back in a couple days to pick it up but it was indeed dated the day I signed the papers and I'm pretty sure that's the open date listed with all the bureau's... and my monthly payment is based on that date (even though I didn't get the cash for another few days ). So I'm guessing that should be the same concept on the HELOC, the line isn't officially available until he "submits" it? But it's yours now as of that date as long as you don't take it back.

Which PayPal card is this?

The current signup bonus is now $100 for AARP. So overall I still think CF or CFU will be better. I’ll get $100, she’ll get $150 for either of them. I think I’ll apply (um have my mom apply) for CF and just activate her categories. She won’t use it for everyday spend, she’s too attached to her Discover but I can remind her for the categories. I can also put her cable/Internet on there which I think is just on autopay from her checking account right now.

I think you are good to go! Loan is done. They won't be pulling your credit again! Yay, go for it!

Umm, I just had an extra 20,000 UR points show up in my account for two support links for my CSP!!! Our Reddit is the only place I've posted my links, so THANK YOU!! to whoever used them!! Please let me know because I'd love to give you an extra special thank you and show some reciprocity in the future!! Those points are SO appreciated as I try to treat my whole family to WDW next year!! :cutie::flower3:

Also- referral points posting on a Monday morning now?? I'm confident those points were not there yesterday when I was updating my YNAB budget!

ETA: I remembered that one was from @mom2elal but someone else here must have used one!

Wow, if one of those was from me, that took a really long time! I applied over a month ago!

It has to be yours and someone else’s from here! Neither of them ever showed pending like they normally do though, which is why I’d forgotten about it!

Ok, so apparently Chase is like Amex where to trigger the bonus it isn't counting returns, unless they're going to take it back in the next few days. The PNC funding had been reversed after my last qualifying charge and my pending UR have been taken away, but I'm showing the bonus scheduled to post on this statement. So far so good on that card. Still biting my nails on the other as the last qualifying charge was made 8 days before end of statement cycle but it didn't post until this weekend. Took 4 days after the charge posted to see the bonus on the first card, so I'm cutting that way close on the second.

I got the Lowes offer added too! Yay! I actually need to buy a new mower so perfect timing. I finally used the ebags offer to buy my DH a new carry on roller bag.
