I love credit cards so much!

Good news/bad news day. Good news, I finally have a bill I can use Plastiq to pay. Bad news, I have a new auto loan for DH's truck. I need to make MSR on the new Hilton AMEX Biz. But in my reading, it looks like AMEX doesn't allow auto loan payments on Plastiq. Correct? If that doesn't work, I'll just use my CIP and get the 3x URs. Which is it?

You could try to set up the car payment on the Amex Hilton Biz, submit it, and see if it'll go through. Very likely, it won't because Amex is known to restrict car loan payments. So use the CIP while the gettin's still good. Chase doesn't have an issue with car loans.

Just submitted my application for the Barclay AAdvantage business card. I got "application is being reviewed" so hopefully they'll call me soon for whatever info they need. I imagine it may be because I had to put down "other professional services" since there was no category to slot horse braiding in to. Chase at least has "Pet Sitting/Pet Services" which is what I normally select. Fingers crossed!

CONGRATULATIONS ON DH'S CSR!

I feel like it's been a while since we had a good ol' approval party!

Maybe it's worth a double dance party then, I'm officially two player mode now. Whoop! :cool1:

I was so focused on the cards (nevermind that I was also out of state) that I forgot to call Friday and get all the utilities switched over and the power is off. Won't be doing much at the new house tonight.

LOL. Congratulations on activating Player 2 and closing that mortgage too!

New home loan signed and completed about an hour ago.

New CSR application completed for the hubby about 10 seconds ago. Instant approval!

I almost messed up. I copied my link and used incognito browser, as I began the app and went to the second page I noticed the card in the upper corner was Freedom Unlimited! I don't even have that card, I have no idea how that happened. I closed everything out and restarted.

I've been going back and forth between CSP and CSR, knowing I don't want to double dip right now. Had a duh moment. My son just joined the Army, my daughter has about a 90% chance of becoming a military spouse. For those two reasons I'm getting GE for myself and my littles because I'm pretty sure we'll be visiting the bigs in various places in the next few years. I told my husband he could choose to use this card to get his or be without. He finally said that if I was doing it he would do it with me.
He's become very much against giving more info than necessary to the government lately. Now in about 5 days I can downgrade my CSP.

We finally signed our HELOC papers today so I was going to go home and apply for CIP. But he said he won’t submit stuff till Friday because we have 3 days to change our mind so then I wondered if I need to wait till Friday??

DH just got an email from someone at work... asking for Disney advice, decided to squeeze in 2 days at WDW on another trip. What rides/parks should they do, what restaurants, etc?

Oh, when are you going?

JUNE 13TH AND 14TH.

I feel anxious trying to give advice. This is upsetting my uber-trip-planner-ness.

I tried to open DHs today... thinking I'd fund with the same money, which was back in my Ally account... then it shut me down because his name isn't on that account. D'oh. I really need to get him on there as a joint owner for bank bonuses! :rotfl:
My brother just did something similar yesterday and he’s not a new to disney...they are DVC...arriving July 8th...he’s upset his wife couldn’t book their home BCV in April, I helped her book SS...he asked me yesterday when they could book fast passes...hummm...last month...but they are bringing 3 of their sons friends who don’t have tickets yet..lol so I spent last night helping with that mess and they couldn’t remember their MDE log in so a call to Disney fixed that

Hmm. Stopped by my local stationary store last week to pick up some thank you cards for my DD's teachers, paid with CIC because I'm working on MSR and figured there was a chance it would code as an office supply store, and sure enough I earned 5x UR on the purchase.

My mom just had an old MasterCard closed for inactivity (actually it was my dad’s and he passed away 5 yrs ago, she wouldn’t close it). So now she has a Discover Card and SPG Amex (which she used to earn points for me). She will cancel the Amex with the next AF. Her Discover is old and some version without the 5% categories.

I told her she should have a Visa for the places that don’t take Discover/Amex. I was thinking CF or CFU, leaning toward CF since she would never max out a category. Thoughts?

1. Used a support link!
2. Set up Hilton BIZ and was denied!
3. Set up CIP. So far so good. Looks like payment should be in 3 days. I set this one early (due on 30th) just to see how it goes. Then I can set up recurring next month.

Thanks for the help and the primer on reddit.

It's hard to go wrong with the Freedom. However, she could get 3% back on everything with the Alliant Visa (AF waived first year). The Chase AARP card has a $200 sign-up bonus and is 3% back on restaurants and gas, 1% on everything else (no AF). I guess whether these other cards would be better depends on how much she charges, in what categories, and whether she wants to mess with cancelling a card after a year.

@SouthFayetteFan dumb math question for you:

298.5 UR points - how much is that worth if redeemed through CSP for travel?

(I know it is not enough to do any travel with - trying to figure out if I should make a certain purchase with Amex and get MR instead and cash back instead...)

Edit: is the answer about $3.73? LOL - if so I am going with the Amex cash back offer!

One quirk my parents have with Ally on their joint account is that while they are both on it they each need to use separate logins for transfers. Such as Dad has to use his login to transfer money to his Discover account; when Mom tried to transfer money from his Ally login to her Discover account the Ally system locked them out after trying to send the transfer to Discover when Discover came back and said OMG NAME DOESN'T MATCH, PANIC!! or you, know, something along those lines in computer speak. After talking with Ally she found out she needed to use her Ally login (which she'd forgotten she even had) to their joint account to set up transfers to accounts with her name on them. Weird quirk.

For anyone who didn't get the Lowe's 10% back up to $100 on any of their AMEX biz cards, check again! I only had Staples, but just checked and now the Lowe's deal shows up! Woohoo!
Yep, just saw FedEx show up on a card that didn't have it before. Alas it's only for 10%.

Looking for cashback, no AF she can keep long term. AARP sounds interesting, I’ll look into it. But I don’t have that card so I can’t refer her :rolleyes1

Is she the kind to stay on top of rotating categories, or have any interest in them? I have a fam member who HATES rotating categories, like they just get really annoyed with rotating categories and so far the the CFU has left them much happier. Really just depends on the person.

Did you check the date of your first statement? I applied for this card too. I received instant approval and was like you. How do I get the $5000 in without card? but my first statement was actually 6 weeks from the day I applied.

Hope it all works out for you! Good Luck

Hmmm. I was approved May 29, the $95 fee was charged June 1, and online it says my payment is DUE July 8. I got am email that says I have a secure message so I am off to read it now.

(It was just about them removing purchase price protection and return protection from the Sapphire preferred benefits.)

Yup $3.73 is a winner. $4.48 if you had a CSR, lol!
