I love credit cards so much!

The points from my tuition payment submitted yesterday (5/21) is already showing pending on my CIP page -- Plastiq's still coding 3x.

$400 payment to my student loan also coded as 3x recently, so no issues there lately it seems.

On phone with Chase Travel. Two and a half weeks since purchasing WDW tickets for Nov no sign of the confirmation numbers. My agent has apparently been out and won't be back until tomorrow. Got an agent who is contacting Funjet now, he knows all about booking direct with Disney (I didn't even say anything) and was kinda confused my TA went through Funjet. He's on hold with Funjet to see if he can get Funjet cancelled and IF he can he will book us direct with Disney. FINGERS CROSSED!!

Let me pull up my spreadsheet.

:rotfl2:

@Ava: CIP (9/17); Marriott Biz (2/18); CIC (5/18)
@SBWB48: CIP (7/17); Marriott Biz (2/18); CIC (5/18)
@Lain: CIP (6/17); Marriott Biz (2/18); CIC (5/18)

Anyone else? I'll add it to my spreadsheet.

P.S. I don't really have a spreadsheet. :laughing:

HAAAAAA! I totally believed you did. :flower3:
ETA: Interestingly, you all got the 3 cards on roughly the same schedule in the same order.

We have a trip planned in Dec 2019. We already have the no yearly fee Disney Visas. I am considering the Premier so we can get the $200 credit and the 2% on groceries and gas. It also says 2% at most Disney locations. Does this apply to your Disney trip if you charge it? Besides gas and groceries, what else have ya'll found to be great? Carrie

First off I don't have the Premier card, I have the no fee one as well. That said, your Disney trip should earn you the 2%, I think the Disney store may as well. But there may be other cards that do the same or better for no annual fee... or at least get you more benefits for the AF money. Just wanted to put that out there for you as most likely many of us may want to steer you to another card depending on your actual goals :)
There's nothing really wrong with the Premier card, I think several people on the thread have a had it at some point, so if that's truly what you're comfortable with ultimately no shame in going for it. But if you're open to other options there's a boatload of knowledge people on here that can point you in a good direction.

I'll start by pointing out that while we have the no fee card, we don't put as much spend on it as we had before once I thought of a slightly better way to use other points. If I put my spend on my Disney card, I get 1% back on everything only (unless they had a special promotion) and those points are basically a gift card to Disney for a simplified return of 1%. But, if I instead put that same spend on say my Chase Freedom card, I can earn my 1% (at least) on that, charge my Disney purchases to the same card to earn additional 1% on that, then use my Freedom cashback as a statement credit. So now I still got my Disney charges for free, but also earned 1% more on them for a return of slightly more than 1%. And it doesn't really add much complexity to it.
So thinking about the Disney Premier card, it gets 2% back on gas and groceries. The Freedom card has rotating quarterly categories that get 5% back (up to $1500 spent), and usually at least one quarter is gas and one quarter is groceries (not guaranteed, but usually). This involves a little more math, but even with the limitation you may still earn more using the 5% category. Then you have more money to spend at Disney all with a no annual fee card :)

That's just my example, there are better returns and more things that can be done depending on your goals. If you share them maybe someone can find you something better to do with that $49. Especially since you have a nice bit of time to amass points :)

Yeah, I noticed that. The same 3 cards too! (Kind of gives you a snapshot of what this thread's card of that moment looks like.) I think spacing out your apps and proactively reducing your credit limits helps.

I was thinking Feb had an awesome bonus on the Marriott card :laughing: I can't remember what is was since I was focused on other things so now I'm curious and may have to search for it. (and kick myself for not getting hubby on board sooner so he could have applied for it! hehe)

The offer's still available - 75k Marriott points for $3k/3 months MSR, $0 AF first year/$99 AF afterwards.

I think a lot of us were biding our time between apps. The SPG Biz 35k/$10k offer ended in November and the next SPG Biz 35k/$7k offer didn't come around again until March. Marriott Biz bonus would have added to Starriott points, but the card wouldn't have added to 5/24 and has no AF first year. Good deal. The CIC wasn't a good alternative at only a 30k UR bonus at the time.

I think eventually, it may make sense for those who don't have the Marriott Biz to apply for it. Amex is supposed to be the sole small biz card issuer following consolidation of the Starriott brands next year, at which point I think the Marriott Biz portfolio will either be swapped over to Amex's Starriott biz card or converted to one of Chase's own biz cards, but you probably won't be able to get that signup bonus anymore.

I remember my parents asked if I wanted my set in black or navy and I went with black. I had no idea how annoying a black bag would be. My Delsey is purple and huge so I always spot it easily. But SO uses my black bag and we struggle to find it.
Buy some colored duct tape at Target. Use it to wrap the handle on your luggage. We have lime green, easy to spot.

Gotcha. I had wanted hubby to apply for it to get the extra 15 nights, and of course points, but after the 5/3 rollout of the "new" cards I don't see elite night language in the offer terms on the Biz. Just says you get the automatic silver elite status. So was kinda of kicking myself that I couldn't get him on board sooner. If I did we'd make platinum for next year, and with the waive AF first year it wouldn't cost us anything but a HP and some MSR (although with the new Ink card we can't pull that off now unless we're willing to pay fees)

I HAVE DISNEY WORLD TICKETS!!!! The agent today was able to cancel the Funjet reservation (he had to wait like half an hour on hold and apparently that is the norm for Funjet) and then booked me straight with Disney! He tried to select the will call option but couldn't and said there was no eticket option so they are being mailed to us (but no extra charge) and I received Disney confirmation email within a minute of when he booked the tickets. The email from Disney contained a ticket confirmation number which I plugged straight into Disney and have assigned our tickets. What a relief! Agent's name was Eno (? I think, it was kinda hard to him when he introduced himself so that's what I heard), forgot to ask what his ext was though. We got park hoppers but he did ask if we wanted park hopper + with water park option so they can apparently book that as well.

So, in order to book Disney tickets with URs just say no to an agent who tries to book you through Funjet and HUCA to an agent who knows how to book you direct with Disney. Clarify at the beginning of your call if they are booking direct with Disney or using a vendor like Funjet. (Will update our Reddit post on this later today.)

ETA: the agent did mention another interesting thing, he spoke to his supervisor who told him Funjet wouldn't send the tickets until 60 days before departure. So that's not something Funjet just says to everyone, it's actual Funjet policy they follow. Potentially disastrous for FP planning!

Oh and he's killing me again. I'm pretty sure he just said he paid off his car with some settlement money we just got. Dude is a little too quick on the draw... could have tried to use it on another small MSR, like maybe the Marriott Biz :idea: if I could get a straight answer on the elite night earnings (the Marriott site says all bennies are supposed to stay the same but the Chase app offer details are missing info on elite nights)
The offer page is saying only 3k on the biz card, the fee on that would be less than the annual fee, so we'd still come out ahead. Dude, why do you make this hard? o_O

Amazing. But all have the same DPs. I’ll be looking to expand on that for DH. I mean HE’LL be looking to pick up CIP and SW Biz.

If I could double like this or :love: I would. Thanks for being the guinea pig but so glad it worked out. Looking to do this for our next WDW trip.
