I love credit cards so much!

I have some FFDs and I don't Freedom yet. Fee wise came out the same I think using my FFD and Pay1040 so I wanted (and really need) the extra points I would get with CIP through Plastiq. Does it really matter? It's going to get where it needs to be eventually right? If I let Plastiq send to Austin, it'll be 3 days. If I use the NC address, it won't be received until the 20th. Ugh.

Seems like the Austin office is accepting Small Business and Self-Employed tax payments at least.

Have a question about hard inquiries. My wife has a business so we have applied/received and are using a couple of business cards.Chase Ink and a Marriott business card. She also has a Disney Visa (personal card). All show as hard inquiries on her credit report. Just want to understand. Does Chase just ignore the hard inquiries if they are business cards. I assumed they just wouldn't be seen on the credit report at all, but there they are. So just want to make sure Im not blowing her 5/24 with the business cards. We plan to try to get a couple more cards in the near future.

And I am self-employed so that's what we chose to do. It's getting there Saturday so I figure eventually it'll get where it needs to be. Oddly, if I choose small business on the Plastiq site it gets sent to NC, but a different PO Box than IRS shows.

That should be enough RR points to fly one of us to boot camp graduation without impacting next year's travel plans. Unexpected travel messing up my plans and making me need more points ;)

Chase’s 5/24 Rule looks at how many credit card accounts from any issuer have been opened in the past 24 months, not inquiries. A hard inquiry will not count against 5/24. If the credit card that gets opened as a result of the hard pull shows up on DW’s personal credit report, then the card will count against 5/24.

Personal cards issued by banks (and sometimes stores) always count. Generally, business cards from Chase, Citi, WF, and Amex don’t show up on personal credit reports and don’t count; but some issuers like Capital One and Discover do report their business cards so those count.

Chase Ink and Marriott business cards don’t count against 5/24.

Chase is not particularly sensitive to numerous hard inquiries on your credit report, but they have been known to use too many inquiries and not enough utilization to deny new credit card applications (because I guess it suggests the applicant keeps signing up for new credit cards but isn’t using them once they’ve got the signup bonus).

have u looked into serve?

Ok so this I can sign up and load 1000 a month online onto the card? How many cards can I have? Have you been shutdown? Any advice on how to avoid that? I think I was getting this card confused with a card that you have to load in store.

It should work if you go inside and pay with a set amount.
Do branded gift cards (Shell, BP) usually have the same issue? DH was able to use it once but only put $10 worth in (no idea why?! ) I had a BP GC before and used it to fill up, leaving $ on the Card. The next time, I just used the rest and paid for the remaining purchase with CC. Ended up using the Visa GC at Costco because I was frustrated. Hate going into a gas station.

I’ve been using Shell gift cards at pumps without a problem.

I think with the branded card you can use at the pump. It’s been awhile since I have used them tho and have only tried Hess and Speedway. But I imagine it’s the same.

Ok so DH was denied for CIC. They pulled from TransUnion, and he has 3 AUs listed on that report which were removed last year. (I had checked his Experian report and they were not on it) I have requested they be removed.
I will wait and reapply. So now I’m not sure now whether I should apply for CIC (lower bonus but better earning potential, no AF) or CIP (better bonus). Won’t be able to get CP as previously planned but since DH is 4/24, applying for CIP or CIC won’t affect trying for SW Biz later this year, right? I’m torn on what to do. I suddenly have no plan.

My last few cards from Chase they pulled transunuion and experian.

Does pay1040 accept PayPal to make Freedom 5x work?

Also I've never heard of PayUSATax: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c...stion_thread_march_19_2018/dvyu8np/?context=3

I just paid the federal tax due with our extension, and did not see that pay1040 accepts PayPal. I used PayUSATax, which is where the IRS Form 4868 directed me to pay using cc (actually, it specified 1040paytax.com, but that redirected to PayUSATax when I entered the URL) to pay an amount via PayPal that maxed out our CF, and then went back to pay1040 to pay the balance on our CFU for the slightly lower fee. I almost blew it and paid the full amount on pay1040 when I went back, but caught myself and changed the amount to net out what I had just paid on PayUSATax. Phew!

I vote better bonus and downgrade to cic if the categories work better for you.

My understanding is that Chase is okay with 2 business cards but not necessarily more than that. If the CIC or CIP is his only one I wouldn't think it would screw up getting Southwest. One possible issue though could be how much credit he has overall with Chase. What I found with my CIP application conversation is that while they can't take credit from the personal to the business they look at the whole picture when deciding how much credit and if to even give you the card. As it was with me they grudgingly approved me on the CIP but it was with an only $5000 credit limit.

I think overall the CIC is a lot better card. But I would still probably apply for the CIP. 30,000 UR's is a lot. I am sorry he was denied. What an annoying reason.

With all of the talk about the SPG/Marriott changes coming and Marriott allowing you to reserve a room without having all of the points in place, what do you think it going to happen to those “unpaid” bookings? I think between DH and my bonuses and UR points, we might actually be able to move Australia to August 2019 except the original thought with 2020 was it was our 20 yr anniversary and DS will be “graduating” for middle school to high and it will be his 13th birthday. That’s all dependent on whether we decide to move DS to private school in fall or not which comes with a hefty payment.

Do you mean will Marriott cancel the bookings? I don’t see why they would. I have made a couple bookings without having the points in my account, and before you confirm your reservation it gives you a date by which you need to have the points available to redeem. (This must be based on the individual hotels’ cancellation policies because it’s not a consistent number of days before check in from booking to booking.) It also says if you don’t redeem points to pay for the booking by the date given, Marriott will contact you regarding payment options. You have to put in a credit card to guarantee the reservation, so I assume if you don’t redeem points or cancel by the cancellation date they charge your card based on the hotel’s cancellation policy.

Funny all the paying taxes going on today. I did federal taxes this morning with my business platinum AMEX to take advantage of the 1.5x membership rewards (50% bonus over $5,000). Our taxes were well over that amount. Due to the amount, I had to call Amex to get pre-authorization. I told them I was paying taxes to take advantage of the 50% bonus and they said "great way to use" or something like that. This was the second time I'd called (I called about a month ago to figure out whether they'd let me do it with the amount) and they had same reaction. The talk of problems getting point with taxes and amex yesterday had me a little panicky, but they acted as if it was no big deal. We'll see. I'll report back when it all goes through and points are credited (crossing fingers!). I also had to call pay1040.com due to the amount and I was so paranoid, I had the lady repeating everything about five times, LOL. Stressful day!
