I love credit cards so much!

So then I think a good plan would be CIP for bonus then downgrade to CIC for the 5x categories. DH has CSP, CFU and SW. I was waiting for SW yearly miles to post but that’s not until July, then cancelling. His total credit from Chase is well below 50% of income.

I would give it a few months though; don’t pc right after hitting the MSR and getting the bonus. Don’t be too obvious like that and burn any bridges. Get the bigger bonus, let the account cool down, and pc after a few months saying you think the CIC is a better fit for your needs/expenses than the CIP.

That’s impressive MS! What happens with a BB shutdown? Can you have multiple cards and just open more if you get shutdown?

We just got an email that the account was closed for "unusual activity" or something like that. First DH's got shut down, so then we used mine. When mine was shut down, we opened one in my SIL's name and one in BIL's name as a back up, with their permission of course. We made it through the $30K by the time we were on the 4th account but it was shut down shortly after.

OMG!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is fantastic and made MSing so much easier.

I wanted to post this earlier, but figured I would be the guinea pig and test it out first. Got my USB MCGC at the store, went home, and tested with success!

I figured since you are also in the DC metro area (MD here), you should find USB MCGCs with no issue. Think I read someone on reddit, some had issues sourcing them, so who knows. Either way, it’s a few less MO trips (or save those in general if you aren’t looking to do anything crazy like multiple Venmos lol) and stress of converting. @Albort reminded me that I forgot to add a few Venmo nuances, which I just did over there, that you will want to keep in mind!

I also read someone here or maybe on reddit as well mentioning that they didn’t get fuel points from Giant on VGCs purchases. I thought I didn’t either since it didn’t show up on my receipt initially, but magically after a few days I saw 1,500 Gas points  and I know i wasn’t spending THAT much on groceries while I bought 3 VGCs recently, so the math became simple.

yeah. U basically go to the pump, hit Pay on chase pay app, click on the gas station ur at, input pump #, input the 3 digit code into the pump, and pump your gas.
5x with freedom.

Tried this while at the pump last week and I wonder if some stations aren’t configured to take CP (just like the SB CP promo a few weeks back where some stores had the ability to take it while others didn’t) because it couldn’t find the station via location finder while I was standing in front of the pump.

Anyone having issues adding Amex offers to 2 cards? I know ive learn to open 2 browsers up but that trick doesnt seem to be working.

im at the point of wanting to split them up into 2 accounts now.

The payment services all have different limits. Frim the irs page on paying taxes by cc there was a link (I’m on my phone right now so if you can’t find it I can send to you) for large payments. 1040’s was anything over 100k. The number to call on that page though was wrong. I ended up just calling the main customer service #.
Thanks for the info. I’m anxiously awaiting the final numbers but It will be less than 100K thank goodness!

I just went to check it out, and had no problems adding one offer to two separate cards. But I don't use a two browser trick, I use a two tab trick. Don't know why that would make any difference, but that's the way I've been doing it for years.

weird, this trick isnt working for me...

Has anybody heard/seen any further info on the CIC increased offer going away in mid May? I want to keep tabs on that and to my knowledge haven't seen anything other than that one memo image that was circulating.

Still 20 pages behind, but more decisions to make... Another cousin is getting married Memorial Day weekend. I now have $350 in hotels.com gift cards, and a free night worth $110. But I see that the daily getaways deals have started, and I could buy enough IHG points to stay at the Holiday Inn Express next to my cousin's apartment (different cousin) for $10 less than it would be to stay at the Quality Inn we usually stay at, which is slightly more inconvenient (by 5-10 minutes) and I feel like Holiday Inn is probably a little nicer than the QI by the prison (that sounds super sketchy but I promise it's really not). QI is about $80 a night and HIE about $160 for our nights. But I have no plans for the hotels.com gift cards and already have them... but this charge could go towards SPG biz spend... I'm so indecisive.

Nope. I was able to add the Ebags offers to all 5 of my cards and 6 of DH's cards with no issues last week. Then, yesterday I was able to add the Racetrac offer to 4 of my cards where it showed up on and 3 of DH's as well on as a few other offers on multiple cards. I use the multiple tabs.

What works for me is to open up Amex and the first card that shows up, click the offers tab and then the "view all" offers so that all offers show up on that one card and do not click any offers. Then, I copy the url of the card you have currently open and open a new tab, then paste the url in that tab and hit enter. I do the same thing until I have 5 tabs open with the same card from the first tab. Then, I go to tab 2 and click "my accounts" so that the drop down with my cards shows up and I see the 1st card is selected since that is the tab I copied for all tabs. I click the next card in the my accounts drop down, allow it to populate and it should automatically populate all offers without having to click "view all". Do not select any offers. Then go to tab 3 and of course the card from tab 1 is there, click "my accounts" then select card number 3 and allow it to populate. Do not select any offers and move on to tab 4 etc. Once all tabs have each card populated and the offers for that card you can begin selecting the offers. I made a picture tutorial a while back showing how to do this. It works on Google chrome and IE. I have not tried on Safari or Firefox.

I'd suggest trying again exactly as detailed above and in the picture tutorial linked from my previous post and see if it works.

It has to be earned in the same calendar year. How did you get those 80k southwest points? If you don’t have the Southwest Business credit card I’d open up that. You would be eligible for that if you haven’t gotten the bonus in the last 24 months, you have no credit card applications in the last 30 days, and if you have less than 5 credit card applications in the last 24 months. The card will give you 60k points after spending 3k in 3 months and then you will have the companion pass for the rest of 2018 and 2019.

I had the 50k bonus, then I had several big expenditures one a buyback into retirement fund with work I was able to put down on the card, some household things needed, and the last being a used car for the DD the car lot let me put all on the card. I had to move money out of some regular savings and also pay off with paycheck remainders each pay period so I could pay the card off and not be charged the high interest. So basically I have no emergency savings right now as it was all depleted, very scary. But rather not have the balance I had on the card.

I have enough SW points to cover our flights but I like to add on the EBCI.
Does anyone know if I can use a gift card for that? Thinking about buying a discount SW gift card to save a few bucks.

Funny all the paying taxes going on today. I did federal taxes this morning with my business platinum AMEX to take advantage of the 1.5x membership rewards (50% bonus over $5,000). Our taxes were well over that amount. Due to the amount, I had to call Amex to get pre-authorization. I told them I was paying taxes to take advantage of the 50% bonus and they said "great way to use" or something like that. This was the second time I'd called (I called about a month ago to figure out whether they'd let me do it with the amount) and they had same reaction. The talk of problems getting point with taxes and amex yesterday had me a little panicky, but they acted as if it was no big deal. We'll see. I'll report back when it all goes through and points are credited (crossing fingers!). I also had to call pay1040.com due to the amount and I was so paranoid, I had the lady repeating everything about five times, LOL. Stressful day!

Personal DP is I had inconsistent treatment on paying taxes on 2 different Amex SPG cards to meet MSR. One worked and the bonus points appeared within a couple of days and the other has not yet posted. I’m waiting for this month’s statement before I call but not looking good.

Good idea to call ahead of time but not sure it will matter because they don’t treat consistently. Hope it works out for you.

The internet rates on credit cards are very high. If you are comfortable putting only your normal expenses on a card again I would try for the Southwest Business credit card. You can have a sole Proprietorship and use your social security number for the application. The card is offering 60k points for 3k spend. I understand that the rates are high and if you think you wouldn’t pay the card off I wouldn’t do it. The bonus is not worth it if you have to pay a high interest rate. You could also look at earning points through the Southwest shopping portal.

So now anytime I see something from Chase I get a sinking feeling. Informed delivery is a bit of a curse, as I see something from Chase regarding Marriott Rewards but I won't know what it is until the evening (we're at the end of the delivery route). Unless the world is ending and DoC or someone else reports it first, we now have a few hours of dread until we see how they can demoralize us now. (which happened to my IHG card, I got the notice from Chase about the free night cert a day or two after it hit everywhere else )

But looking again I'm hoping its just an annual privacy notice, or worse the removal of the protections, as there's 2 other Chase envelopes showing that look exactly the same for hubby. So that's 3 out of his 4 Chase cards.

Unless something has changed, EBCI is cash only, no gift cards.

Still seems accurate. I was checking it out the other day and the web still said no EBCI or inflight purchases on GC's.

"Please note that a Southwest gift card is not valid for the purchase of Southwest Airlines Vacation Packages, cargo, hotel, rental car, Southwest Airlines Merchandise, EarlyBird Check-In, additional Southwest gift cards, or inflight purchases."
