Yeah, way more.
When you're setting up a payment, on the last screen before you submit, there should be some kind of message like You have FFDs! and asks if you'd like to apply them.
Yeah, way more.
Water shuttle it is!I hate to burst the romantic bubble, but you arrive by water shuttle or a private water taxi, not by gondola. The water shuttle is complimentary and takes about 20min to get to the island from St. Mark's. The private taxi costs something like $200! Yikes!
I started out 2 years ago with an IHG credit card, because I was looking for a way to cover hotel costs to visit my wife's family. Then I found this thread, and points/miles blogs, and decided I can do this to help my family travel more on our limited vacation budget. I'm looking at Caribbean beach resorts for next February and London for next summer, which is something I never would have thought we could afford before starting this hobby. But now that I can cover transportation and lodging costs with miles/points and all we have to pay for OOP is food and activities, it's achievable. But isn't that what this hobby is all about? Making our pipe dreams come trueAhem, Singapore Suites flight next month, weekend in London just to see the Harry Potter play, Hamilton tix at face value and flying to the opposite coast to see it, weekend in DC to see cherry blossoms and getting ressies for Easter brunch at the oldest restaurant in town when they are fully booked, Iceland for Thanksgiving because, well because, why not?
Seriously though, I know the regulars here are aware of my travel habits but for the lurkers and the newbies reading this thread that may find this hobby overwhelming and the things that some of us do unattainable. Don't let it intimidate you. I started this hobby as a way to make one really expensive, once in a lifetime, dream come true trip that I wanted to do with all my heart, more affordable. I never, in a million years thought that one goal would then lead to where we are today in terms of our travel habits and what this silly, ever changing hobby has allowed us to do. I know I am waxing poetic here, but this hobby completely changed our lives, the way we view travel and what can and can't do. So far, there isn't much a "can't" in the equation. Thanks to the bloggers it isn't can or can't we, but more, how do I make it happen? Whatever it is, one of them has done it and blogged about it.
Ok, off my soapbox now. Let's go make our pipe dreams come true. I'm thinking that Venice trip is a fabulous idea and am very thankful you posted about it. Can't wait to tell DH we are going to Venice again. Oh my gosh, this is going to be so romantic![]()
Have you been to London/South England? There are a lot of places that are easy day trips from London, so you could base yourself in London for 7 nights and still see other areas as well.I know, I know. I have two problems. Too many options and not enough time. I'm so overwhelmed with the possibilities that I can't make any decisions!
DH wants to do Japan, so that seems like a great use of a 7 night cert for Tokyo, but then we wouldn't have time to go anywhere else, and I can't see multiple Japan trips in our near future. Same with Italy. I'd love to do Venice, but for 7 nights and no other Italy destinations? First world problems!!!
But the private taxi looks very James Bond, arriving to the private island! Might be worth the splurge!Water shuttle it is!![]()
It was nice. Very busy, there was a convention and a lot of people up there with the convention tags. Nice to eat breakfast and look out over San Diego. Eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, I want to say french toast, sodas, and the fancy coffee machine. It was hard to find a place to sit since it was so busy. How was the lounge?
Seriously, we should all just plan to meet there with our Marriott certificates.![]()

Yes, I've been to England more than anywhere else (besides WDW). I love it and have a lot of friends there, but it's definitely more achievable with cash than most other places I want to go. We get there every 2 or 3 years. We did an Air BnB right in the middle of King's Cross last year and I think we'd go that route from now on. It's these aspirational trips that are so overwhelming, I can't decide. It makes my head spin!Have you been to London/South England? "Excuse me, signore, do you accept Ultimate Rewards?"But the private taxi looks very James Bond, arriving to the private island! Might be worth the splurge!
UGH, it tells me I can't use an AMEX to pay this recipient! This was my entire MSR for this account. Any ideas? I thought property tax was legit?I’d pick government (because taxes). ETA other should work too. Avoid real estate with Amex.

It's the Treasurers Name, followed by Wright County Auditor/TreasurerProperty taxes using Amex should be fine on Plastiq. Here’s a DP in the comment from two weeks ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c...stion_thread_march_27_2018/dwdkmar/?context=3

Nice! I love London, I first visited when I was 13, then spent a month in Camberley on an exchange program in high school. DW & I went in 2006, but I haven't been back since. I've been researching for a potential family trip next summer which is why I thought of it. I've never used AirBnB but will have to look into it, as it's hard to find standard hotel rooms that sleep 4.Yes, I've been to England more than anywhere else (besides WDW). - For Payments to Recipients in the United States, the use of American Express cards is not supported beyond the following industries: Government, Utilities, Education, Residential Rent, and Club Fees & Memberships.
We were traveling with a friend, and found a nice little one bedroom apartment with a giant fold out couch. It wasn't anything luxurious, but you couldn't beat the location and the owner was very helpful. She had an arrangement with a coffee shop a few doors down to hold onto the keys for each new renter so she wouldn't need to be present when we arrived. She even provided a local cell phone in case we didn't have an international plan. It worked out really well for us. On a side note, we traveled down to Brighton for the first time, and absolutely fell in love with it. I would take a trip solely to stay there again and never even bother with London. Have you been there? Add it to your list, if not.Nice! I love London, I first visited when I was 13, then spent a month in Camberley on an exchange program in high school. Whoohoo!!!! So happy for you! I know this day is long waited for!Ladies, Gentlemen, boys and girls of the "I love credit cards so much" thread...today is a momentous day. A day 24 months in the making! Today is the day that 730+ days of patience pays off because today is the day that we (my wife) were APPROVED for a CHASE INK PREFERRED!!!!
To a 4 year+ churner...this is one of my proudest churning moments. I'm so glad to be back in the Chase game!
EDIT: hilarious fact...the Chase Ink Preferred card didn't even exist when we put a halt to my wife's applications to get back under 5/24, LOL!![]()
I haven’t received the referral ones either. Maybe it takes a bit for them to post after your payment? Your mortgage posted several days ago, right?I used a support link ( @wendow , I think) and am not sure my $500 fee free dollars ever came though. Where do you see them?
I’m wondering if Plastiq thinks you’re trying to pay a person and it’s rejecting it because Plastiq is not a P2P payment service.
I’d maybe try:
Recipient Name: “Wright County Auditor/Treasurer”
Recipient Street Address:
Apt, Suite, Bldg: "Attn: Treasurer Name"
City and State as usual. For ZIP, use only 5 digits, don't include the last four digits (Plastiq seems to have a problem with that).
[ETA] I’d also select Government for category based on Plastiq’s TOS, which makes me wonder if trying to pay an “other” category on an Amex is restricted:
Hmmm. I just tried Auditor Treasurer of Wright County, and put his name with the suite number, same results. And both times I used government as the category.
