Anyone fly business/first domestically?

Flying from Miami to LAX in about 6 hours. That seems kind of long for economy... BUT the points for anything but economy is proportionally high considering that all you get are wider seats with more leg room and maybe alcohol.

Debating whether to suck it up or spend the points. Bougie me is having an internal dialogue with Frugal me...

What do all of you do for cross country flights?

I have 2 hour first class flight on the books currently so I am for sure not against it if the point cost is reasonable.

Does anyone have experience with changing Clear from a family add on to your own membership? I am strongly considering the Amex Green charge for my husband. With Clear the annual fee is basically a wash. But if he has to reapply to Clear not sure I want the hassle of that.

DVC purchases I know do not code as travel for Amex, does anyone know about dues? Im considering the Green also because I dont think I can scramble together 9k in gift cards by January for my dues. Id take the 60k sign up bonus as win for paying dues.

Edit to add: fudge! Looks like the "up to 60k" verbiage is gone and it's now 40k. Sigh. Im still interested though since getting an Amex is easiest, no unlocking credit, no awkward phone call for DH with Chase for another INK. I contemplated the CSR but we just wont use any of the credits other than the $300 travel, like none of them. If CSR had Clear we would probably do it.

Hey All!

I've been gone awhile again... Was wondering if someone could point me to the current SW CP info if they knew where about in this thread that is or shoot me a PM as I have a specific question. I skimmed back dozens of pages but didn't see anything that stood out and didn't find my answer on the reddit page.

I try not to do anything less than C+ on dl, and exit row, whatever gets more leg room or fc if the points or upgrade is worth it. Can I do it in main, sure but even for a 2 hr flight I don't want to and really don't want to for more than 3. I'm only 5'4" but I still want the space.

If I'm being honest, when I'm flying coast to coast and the flight is 5 hours or longer—say, to San Diego, Seattle, or LA—and the price is reasonable (less than double the normal fare), we usually splurge on a more comfortable seat. For example, a flight to LA might be $400 in economy, and if I can get a better seat for $800, so be it. I'm 6'2", and when I was younger, I would just spread my knees, but now I don't think it's worth sacrificing comfort. Most of the time, when flying domestically on the East Coast, though, I'm fine with Economy Plus.

Welcome back….Doctor of Credit also has information on getting the CP…not sure if it would answer your question though.

You should be able to find the answer to your question here:

Well I guess I spoke too soon. We offered up the Delta match to the team and another family took it. Wish I had a spend, as I just put $4100 on my Cap 1 card. It's the only card my BF is an AU on, and since he's the Delta employee, we figure it probably has to be his credit card. My plan was to get him an employee card on an Ink. But I'm still waiting to get a new Ink. Oh well. It's still points, LOL. Just not maximized.

My daughter wants to register for her classes, I was hoping to have an Ink by then, but I forgot about the 30 days between apps. Is that a hard and fast rule? Or just something most adhere to?

Thanks for all the comments about losing my hockey mom identity. Both my kids seemed to have just up and quit w/o me knowing their last game was their last game. I think they knew I'd be a mess, not just their last game, the last season, LOL.

Do I count? I take wherever seat I can get, LOL. Non-revs don't normally get 1st class upgrades domestically. I did get it from DTW to CHS which was nice, LOL. But we normally get C+ at least if it's available. Or they give us a row to ourselves which is also nice. I guess if I was using points, is it worth it?? I don't really drink on flights, well on D1 to/from MUC we didn't, LOL. Not passing up champagne. Which airline is it as well. I've read AA often isn't worth the upgrade.

The r/churning megathread is very comprehensive. Link Hope it answers your question.

It would be nice to get another SUB for a Plat given how high the AF is. DH's personal Plat renews in February. But he's only had it since 2022. Am I correct in assuming it's too soon to cancel and try to get another SUB? Given the new lifetime language, and it hasn't been 6-7 years...
If that thinking is correct, I hope he at least gets a good retention (last retention was 2024).

Has anyone booked airfare with AmEx or Chase? I need to book a flight from Singapore to Hong Kong (yes, HK Disney is on my agenda, of course!) -- open to any points redemptions (I checked AP and AA as well as points.me and nothing good available).

Anyhow, I could book direct with SA and earn miles (which would be pretty useless) OR book with AmEx / Chase and get 5X points (is it 5X still on the 'new' CSR or is it 8X?), which are much more valuable. BUT I don't want to be stuck if I need to cancel / make changes to the flights. I am looking at flexi fare which allows changes & cancellations, but I don't want a hassle dealing with a 3rd party if I need to do either.

Does anyone have any experience with booking AmEx or Chase flights?

I've done it before with Delta flights since I know I can change them without issues. It doesn't seem to matter with Amex flights either—I've done this when they've had Amex offers and have never had any problems.

I've booked through Amex travel to use the 35% biz plat rebate (RIP!) and everything went fine. Granted, I didn't need to make any changes. I did cancel once because plans changed, and my fare was refundable.
