I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

With the CSR now having all these new credits, I'm wondering what I might be able to take advantage of before I downgrade the card. I've pretty much determined that the higher AF isn't worth it for me so I plan to downgrade to CSP once my next AF hits on Jan 1.

Since I have between now and Jan to use the 2025 credits, does this mean that hubby and I could book a show on Stubhub for ~$150 and also get dinner at a Chase tables restaurant for ~$150 and gave a pretty much free datenight by the end of the year? Then, if i put off downgrading the CSR for a few weeks in Jan, that we could have a second pretty much free date night in January? Then I downgrade within a month of the AF posting and get it refunded while still taking advantage of these credits?

You don't want to focus on the due date, you want to focus on the statement closing date. While one informs the other, it's the statement closing that matters for which year points hit.

If your card is currently due the 22nd, I agree that it's going to close at the end of each month right now, leaving you minimal December to start spending. A 12/22 due date will have a late November close and a late December close before you can start spending toward 2026 CP dollars.

If you call tomorrow and ask for the statement closing date to be the 3rd of the month (statement closing, not due date) they will be able to make that adjustment for you. Once your statement closes on 12/3, you'll have the rest of that month to hit spend knowing that the next statement will close 1/3/26

Thank you! I will ask about closing date rather than due date 🙂
I'm not sure you can ask for the closing date change, at least you could not before, but you can change your payment due date which will in turn adjust the closing date.

Couple years back we had discussions on picking a payment date to time the MSR period -

FYI, you CAN ask to change the closing date! I called yesterday and asked for the statement close to be Dec 5 and the rep said okay. Then she told me that the due date would be the 2nd of each month but that the first due date wouldn't be until Jan 2. Still, first statement will close Dec 5 so that's nice.

We did the SW Priority Biz in 2023 for the CP that is now expiring. I remember we also changed the dates on that one but don't recall if we asked about due or statement close date (I think the former, so I think it has changed).

Citi doesn't expedite. I see some Strata Elite DPs that it took about 3 days. That's a premium card, so not sure if the Globe will be treated similarly. General Citi DPs are 7-10.
Just adding my DP: approved for Citi Globe on 10/20, requested expedite via phone (no dice), received card on 10/27. So it took exactly a week. Not as long as I was expecting, and great for us since we're leaving in a few days to travel.

Different topic: has anyone had an Ink Biz card locked for fraud? I'm assuming that's what it is. We tried to use the card for a website originating in Cambodia, it was in US dollars, but payment failed. I guess they didn't like that, and all charges we've tried since that have been denied. We never got any fraud alert texted, emailed, or otherwise. The card is in DH name, so I'll have to have him call I guess and sort it out (which as some of you know, is like pulling teeth). :(

I believe travel portal redemption is 1 cent per point. But that's the same as cashing out. I think you need a USB checking now to get 1 cpp for the Altitude Connect biz, but for the Triple Cash biz you can still do statement credit at 1 cpp.

The Triple Cash biz also has no AF compared to waived first year AF. Plus a $100 software subscription credit. Either get seats.aero and pay $20 OOP a year or the $3.99 Maxmypoint subscription and come out $52 ahead.
whatttt ok thank you! I was just looking at redemptions etc! I need to dig deeper here obviously this is great info!

I've definitely done it based on closing date. Called for my end of 2024 SW cards for my 2025/26 CPs.

Hilton is Rolling Back (Some) Painful Award Rate Hikes

If you have an upcoming Hilton stay, it's worth checking your rates. Grand Wailea, Conrad Orlando, Hermitage Bay and Canaves Oia are included in the rollback for select dates, but maybe more. FWIW, I checked Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal and that still seems to be holding at 250k/nt, but I hope that drops.

That's awesome Chase has finally either gave the option to phone reps, or trained them all how to do it with the due date !

That has been a source of frustration for many years. The reps would always insist they can only change the due date so you had to figure out how to make that work for you. Only took decades

Recommendations for Los Cabos?
1. Does anyone have a reliable airport transfer that you've used before and reasonably priced?
2. Rec for a good whale watching tour? Preferably kid-friendly. This is on my kids' #1 to-see list.

Sorry for the delayed response. We have been many times in Jan and Feb and the whale watching is great at that time of year.

1. In 2025, we used Cabo Airport Shuttle. $147 RT
2. Here are some details from some reviews I wrote, maybe on another forum, but maybe in my signature there are TRs?

January 2021: Humpback whale boat tour- Cabo Trek, 2.5 hours.

On a previous trip to Cabo, we did a whale watching tour and while we loved seeing these amazing creatures, we felt like they were stalked by irresponsible boats. This time around I tried to look for a responsible boating operation. We selected Cabo Trek, who according to their website they are “the first ecotourism company in Mexico to obtain the official recognition of “Responsible Whale Watching Operator” assigned by the World Cetacean Alliance”. They have a marine biologist on every tour, and we felt very educated about humpback whales after our adventure. According to their website “Our RABEN (Mexican whale rescue network) certified captains are experts in anticipating the next best whale watching spot and maintain a safe and responsible distance from the whales.” We enjoyed a tour of Land’s End’s famous arch, lovers and divorce beaches, a sea lion colony and then out to the Pacific to see some whales. We saw many whales, often in groups of 2-3, as the whales come here to give birth and mate. The marine biologist said this made every humpback whale a Mexican citizen, lol. We saw mostly tail dives, but weren’t lucky enough to see any breaches this trip. We even saw a pod of dolphins- so magical.

The group size was 13, which I think was a bit much with COVID. I’d definitely recommend sitting up front at the bow if you can. It was a warm, sunny day and sea. We loved this tour and I’d book it again, though perhaps private if our group size was right. Total cost w/gratuity= $212 total for two

February 2021:
We did a private whale watching tour with Whale Watch Cabo and it was our best experience yet. They have marine biologists as their guides and are as responsible about whale watching as you can be. My kids learned a ton and we even saw a momma and her cow. The cow breached- it was so spectacular.

Okay! I have to share or I will burst!!! The Disney around the world for 2026 is back on!! But it will not be all on one continuous trip.

We had the cruising to Europe and back trip planned with a trip to DLP.

DH got an email with the sale on cruises that he checked out. The cruise from Vancouver to Tokyo that his uncle and aunt will be on in August 2026 is available again. We asked our cruise agent to get us a quote out of curiosity. We didn't have any real plans to go since we are having a mega trip from May to July 2026 already. His agency got us a "covert sale" not available to the public that priced lower than the awesome deal his uncle got like 8 months ago.

The agent put a hold on it for us. We kept going back and forth today. So many pros and cons... On a lark, we looked at airfare available on reward points.

We hit the lotto. I used seats.aero to check availability for the first week of October 2026 which would give us 3 weeks in Asia after the cruise. It found Biz Class seats from HKG to JFK with a connection through DOH for 95k Qatar miles each.

I had to do a quick internet search on how to even do this. I was poking around on the Qatar website, I found Biz class seats from HKG directly back to MIA on the same days with even more availability! I could not replicate my findings on seats.aero at all.

The leg from DOH to MIA were in QSuites! After a super quick discussion, we decided if we could actually book the tickets, the cruise would be a go! I was actually able to book Biz tickets from HKG-DOH-MIA with the 2nd leg in QSuites for a total of 190k miles transferred from AMEX and about $730 taxes and fees!!!

It happened super fast and I am shaking!! I had to post here before I slept!

So, we will go to DL in LA in August before the cruise, travel up to Vancouver to catch the ship to Tokyo, do Toyko DL & Sea, fly to Shanghai, then down to Hong Kong. We decided to do WDW last maybe after Thanksgiving and before Christmas.

So, we will hit all the DIsney Parks in one calendar year!

You totally hit the lotto- I'm so happy for you. But, you really have to pat yourself on the back because all your hard work is no accident. You used hard earned skill-set to make all these things line up:
1. You'd accumulated enought points
2. They were in a transferrable currency
3. You knew how to go about searching by using tools like seats.aero
4. You travel hacked a great price on a cruise

I cannot wait to hear about all your travels in 2026!

Used the StubHub credit. Going to see Neil deGrasse Tyson in a couple of weeks!

Used the Edit Credit at a hotel in Reykjavik--going to Iceland for Christmas!

OMG- Iceland for Christmas? I am guessing you are staying at the EDITION. I was really rather critical of my stay there in 2024, but we did really enjoy it and talk often of the EDITION bed. Cocktails were great at the rooftop bar, which also has indoor seating. We had really great sleeps there. TR is in my signature, which details my nit-picking. The manager who helped us square things away mentioned the EDIT was new to them, so I would imagine they've worked out the kinks now.

What are you going to do in Iceland over Christmas?

OK, a WWYD question about using the Chase EDIT hotel $250 credit per the min 2 night stay:

I was planning to wait until 10/26/2025 and make two 2-night reservations (total of 4) in Edinburgh at the same hotel. I would use my new BizCSR to make one of them and pay $250 in cash and the rest with boosted points under my name and then one reservation under P2's name with his old CSR with $250 cash and the rest with boosted points. The boosted points would be about 30k-77k per reservation (last 2 nights are more $$). This should trigger the $250 EDIT credit on both cards.

I can make the reservation now with my card but P2 doesn't get the $250 Edit credit until 10/26/2025. I wanted to do them at the same time to make sure there was availability for the same hotel and room category and not have potentially deal with canceling and rebooking.

We will ask to stay in the same room at check in. I am okay with loosing one of the $100 credits but hope that using 2 separate names/reservations, may trigger the $100 credit for both! :P

The Edit hotel I am planning to book is a IHG hotel. So, now I read that starting 1/1/2026, Chase also will have a $250 credit on select IHG hotels. Now I am second guessing myself. Should I wait until 1/1/2026 to try to double stack the 2 credits? Pay $500 on each reservation to maximize the 2 credits and then pay the balance with boosted points.

I am kind of leaning towards getting in done on 10/26/2025 just because I am impatient and want the reservation done and also to be able to take advantage of using up the 2025 credit.

I have 1 night that I need to reserve in Edinburgh after our 2 night Rabbie Tour before heading to London. Maybe I will wait until 1/1/2026 to make this reserve this one night and use the IHG $250 at the same hotel (so that we can leave our larger luggage with the hotel with on the tour)...
Okay, had also been having a nearly identical dilemma about booking now or waiting until January bc of the IHG credit that rolls around then. I'm hesitant to wait because if I wait, availability could dry up or the 2.0 points boost could go away. I should probably just book it now. But I'm going to kick myself in January if all of those things are still true.

Maybe what I can do is book now and then watch it in late December. If it looks like points boost is still there in late December, I can cancel this stay with the intent to rebook January 1. I'd have to have an alternative EDIT stay ready to pull the trigger to book yet by 12/31, so as to not lose the credit for this year.

What did you end up doing?

With the CSR now having all these new credits, I'm wondering what I might be able to take advantage of before I downgrade the card. I've pretty much determined that the higher AF isn't worth it for me so I plan to downgrade to CSP once my next AF hits on Jan 1.

That is exactly my plan as mine will hit Jan 1 as well.

I have already booked the stubhub and the credit shows in my account.
I don't have Chase tables near me or where I will be travelling to so that is out but I did just book 2 nights last night to get the edit credit but it is still pending.

Remember the stubhub tickets don't have to be for this year just the purchase and then hopefully you can repeat on Jan 1.

Do we know if this is on any IHG or just select properties?
From this page on Chase:

Warning: Clawback language on Chase CSR benefits

Just sharing an interesting post I saw on reddit about Chase recently adding clawback language to the CSR, specifically for all the big benefits, like travel, stubhub, EDIT and dining credits. "We may reverse statement credits if an eligible purchase is returned, canceled, or modified or if you close your account within 90 days of receiving a statement credit"

I don't like this. Checking out some hotels on the Chase portal. See a lot of boosted hotels for 2cpp. That's good. But non boosted hotels show as 1cpp not 1.5cpp (for my URs pre 10/26). You have to add to the cart and then it shows you the 1.5cpp UR price. Be aware as you are comparing costs.
Crazy. I had been searching a flight that was previously 14k pts. I went in to purchase it a few days later, and saw the flight was now over 20k points, a big increase. I didn't even think to add it to my cart because I wasn't willing to spend that many points for 2 tickets. So I instead paid cash for the flight. Now, after seeing this comment, I checked again and I see the flight is still 20k when you search, but if I add the flight to my cart, it does come down to 16.5k pts. That is so stupid... basically you need to add anything to your cart to see the "real" price now. UGH!!!

For the stubhub credit. Does it need to be all one purchase or can you spend until you get to 150?
