I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

I'm confused. I thought the CSR got 2 non-restaurant $10 credits plus 1 $5 restaurant credit , and nothing rolled over. Maybe I've been missing out. I've yet to even use the credits because my options are limited where I live.
The restaurant credit was from DoorDash as that is all they did and designed for restaurants.
Now DoorDash does groceries so they replaced the $15 credit from InstaCart with $20 from DoorDash (2 $10 Credits that you can not stack)
When they switched from giving you $60 upfront they gave $5 a month for restaurants but you could roll over 2 months hence $15 every quarter.
You could also use the restaurant credits with the grocery credits so if you could possible use $25 off a grocery order in one month.
Now the restaurant credits are exclusive to restaurants only and will not roll over. They are use them or lose them.
The Grocery credits are still use them or lose them.

I do pickup orders with the grocery credits for Soda/Water from convenience stores for no fees and no minimums.
I am going to have to rethink the dining credits as I was rolling them over for the $15 a month.

I most likely downgrading this card after this year but now I really don't see a reason to keep it as other cards in my wallet provide much of the same benefits.

What are the benefits of a US bank biz card? I've looked at their cards and haven't been excited but maybe I'm missing something. I'm in their footprint.

I got into them because I had spend and no other good options at the time. I'm in the game for travel, so cash SUBs aren't that exciting for me either. I've gotten over that mental hump a bit now. At least 10% back on spend is good.

There are some small side benefits. The Connect biz has a 4 use Priority Pass that should still include restaurants. The Triple Cash biz has the software subscription credit. I use DH's for seats.aero and mine for Pepper monthly.

I didn’t realize seats.aero would trigger. I didn’t think I could use that benefit. Off to change my card on the account.

I didn’t realize about seats.aero qualifying for the software subscription credit either. Does it credit monthly or at the end of the year?

Lawd, this has been some work … had to apply twice - first on 1/25 (got denied for having too much CL) so I closed one card and dropped another CL down $10k. Waited 30 days and then on 3/25 applied again, no instant approval. Got a letter online, so then started the begging and waiting for 10 LONG DAYS on DH to call Chase to “verify his identity” because they thought it was a fraudulent application. He called today and FINALLY got approved for SWA biz card with a $15k CL.
I forgot to have him to ask for it to be expedited when he called and I’m not sure how to do that. He has no biz cards so no online chase biz profile set up yet. Can that be done before having the actual card in hand? He will definitely not call them again. Any ideas? Not too fond of USPS lately so I hate to wait for it in the regular mail.
I need to meet the spend fast to earn CP because we fly 5/4 and I’d like to cancel my SWA tickets and get my 34k RR points back in my account. We’ve already met the spend for the personal card. Our WDW AP’s need to be renewed so that’s about $2k of the spend right off the bat. I’m sure we can put the rest on there fairly quickly.

You'll need 11 months of continuous charges to get $100. It's not a credit against amount charged either, but a flat $100. So 11 months of $1 Target GC on Pepper will net me $89. Assuming I remember to do it each month and assuming Pepper sticks around lol.

I would have him call and tell them he gives permission to speak to his wife. That’s what we do just because it’s easier than me telling him what to say.

Southwest ending free bags for all tickets on May 28, 2025.
ETA: Re-introducing expiration dates on travel credits!

Like other airlines if you have status, a credit card, or buy the Business Select fare then you'll get a checked bag allotment. Otherwise you'll need to pay for checked bags.

2 free bags:
A-List Preferred members
Business Select fares

1 free bag:
A-List Members
Southwest-branded credit card holders
"other select customers"

I haven't seen the PR from Southwest yet but CBS reports it taking effect "...on flights booked on or after May 28"

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/southwest-airlines-ending-free-checked-bags-policy-many-passengers/

A few other things are confirmed that we've already seen , the reduced earning rates on WGA rates and dynamic pricing on points redemption. A "basic economy" option is also coming. The only thing different from WGA I could think of is non-refundable probably. With the other changes WGA already feels like BE except for that.

ETA: Here's the PR -
https://www.swamedia.com/news-and-s...-reward-its-most-MCR5UCS6BF65HVRGPWNL43DHWTFY

Regarding travel credits -
  • Flight credits issued for tickets purchased on or after May 28, 2025 will expire one year or earlier from the date of ticketing, depending on the fare type purchased.
  • Travel credits will expire one year from ticketing date for all fares except Basic, which will expire six months from ticketing date.
ETA2: Just got the email with the support link that explains this a little better.

https://support.southwest.com/helpcenter/s/article/policy-changes

Seems like I was close, WGA has turned into BE. With the change to earnings rate I was thinking it but didn't have confirmation. Based on the chart I think it's confirmed.

Just saw this as well……seems like they are following the Jet Blue model…..CP will probably be next

I'm wondering if this will be like most other airlines and everybody in your party gets 1 free bag just for holding the card or is it going to be like United where you have to actually use the card to buy the flight.

I usually pick up GC at Costco for SW so hoping it is the former and not the latter.

Agreed on having the card vs. using it to buy the flight, e.g. see those that use SWA points for flights. At the very least, I hope you can just show your card at check-in (or register it online somehow) to qualify for a free checked bag. And, I hope having a personal and biz card gives two free checked bags.

I'm sure they will itegrate it into southwest's site.
Southwest already knows if you hold the card it will show in your account in the companion pass section

My United, Delta and AA all know I'm a cardholder as well

The only way I could tell with United is the reduced coach tickets

Good question on the double cards. Do you currently get 2 10,000 points towards companion? If so you might be able to luck into 2 bags.

Just 1x 10,000 points. And, there's this note:
"Members with an open Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Credit Card on the first business day of each calendar year will earn one boost of 10,000 Companion Pass® qualifying points each calendar year. The boost will be deposited into eligible Member's account by January 31 of the calendar year. When a Member opens a Rapid Rewards Credit Card after the first business day of the calendar year, they will receive one boost of 10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points up to 30 days after opening the Rapid Rewards Credit Card. More details."

With alaska you have to buy the ticket or pay the taxes on an award flight with their credit card to get a free bag. You don't get two bags if you have both personal or biz. I've never heard of being able to stack free bags with any airline, however you get them.

Seems more and more airlines are putting the squeeze (well not just them). Don't fly Southwest
often but the fact they are a Chase partner to be able to transfer if needed was great. Loved not having to hold their card for free bags.

I use to love going from site to site looking at the latest travel news. Now Im almost afraid to open them
because some headline is always saying "Fill in the blank" perk is going away devalued or now will cost extra. 😒

I got that email from Southwest this morning.
Literally, just yesterday afternoon, I booked some just in case flights in the fall to Austin on SW. And then thought, wow I am finally low on SW miles. Do I want to do that CP offer? We need a new spend. But we don't fly them much (which is why we are just now getting lower in our miles stash) because they fly hardly anywhere direct from here. But with these new changes, no thanks. I will try to find ways to build my Delta stash, which is also low. I do have a bunch of MR's that I have been sitting on for years, that I think I may just transfer into my Delta account. I have never used a single MR and Delta is the best airline for us, being in MN.

It seems anything booked by May 28 will keep current benefits, including luggage. So at least there's that... on March 27 they'll open the flight schedule through the rest of the year, I'll be on it to book our Thanksgiving flights.

By the fall, hopefully we'll know where things stand with CPs and folks who use it (we use it a lot) will know whether to try for one through SUBs.
