If you don't plan on flying until Dec 2025, I'm wondering why you're trying to do two CPs with 4 cards now. Assuming nothing changes with SW, it might be better to wait on cards for P2 until late next year and meet that spend in early 2026. That would allow P2s CP to extend through 2027. You wouldn't have the 2nd CP for your Dec 2025 flight, but you'd potentially get more use out of it with future flights. Just my two cents 🙂
I thought the same thing. There will be elevated SW SUBs from Chase again later anyway.

Really, I would probably just not have a CP for Dec 2025, then acquire for early 2026 and then enjoy until the end of 2027! But having it for 2025 might also be good in case other trips come up before December?

I still have 10 pages to read but I'll start here. Currently killing 4 hours in the PP Lounge in SAN. I had to take the 8:30am flight. My friend was on the noon flight. I may have booked a ticket and cancelled it to have a place to sit for 4 hours, LOL.

I’m not worried about getting the upgrade fee back; I’ll take that in a travel credit. I want to make sure I will get the points back if I cancel after upgrading.
I think others have answered this now...but as long as you cancel before the flight (you can even do it like 30 min before) you'll get the points back.

Got a targeted spend offer on the Aviator Red. Tiered and maxes out at 5000 AA miles spending at least $100 each month from Oct-Dec. Card is coming up for renewal, but Barclays AF refund is reportedly 60 days, so think I can still make it.

Offer was e-mailed. I can also see it in the AA account under promotions.
I got this too! I never spend on the card, but this seems like a no-brainer.

Tell me about the Delta Skymiles Blue American Express Card. The current SUB is 10,000 skymiles for $1K spend. Does this ever have elevated offers?
Will there be a better SUB in flight or at the airport? I am flying Delta soon so I can apply then if offers are decent.
I don't think ANYONE is going to recommend the blue card. And 10k miles with Delta isn't going to get you much either.

Interesting discussion on Reddit in the 10/5 News and Updates Thread regarding the Ink Train

It’s in r/churning….not a private group so you should be able to see it…lots of discussion poster was recommending chase applications every 120 days due to some Chase shutdowns
Was this just for INK cards? I got a CIU 6/24 and a CIP 8/24. I want to get another chase card. Debating the IHG Biz or personal offers.

Would the in branch offer be better than my husband (current CSP) supporting me? (Trying not to use the R word, did I word that right?)
The in-branch offer is 70k points, while the support offer earns the applicant 60k points. The supporting party earns 10k (at least that's what my CSR is). So seems pretty equivalent, but doing one from the comfy of your sofa is far superior, in my opinion.

The only reason I can see you might not want to do the support link is if your P2 has supported you for more than $600 worth of points, which would mean they'll issue P2 a 1099 and it's taxable.

That is exactly why you have to be careful. All the pts have to be earned in the same calendar year to count towards the CP. The mileage "calculator" resets Jan 1 each year.
@Blumst I'm so glad you asked this question and got it straightened out before any damage was done!!!

Y'all, two new (used) cars has had us really running through MSRs. As part of P2's CP plan for next year, apped for a SW biz card. It was a tad earlier than I'd have preferred and currently "in review." This might put CP at risk for next year. We have 3-4 trips planned and I was banking on CP, so if I have to go back and buy an extra seat, that is gonna be costly.

I did it! I did it! I managed to catch up while I chilled in the lounge here, LOL. Is the consensus if my last Chase card (CIP was 8/24/24) am I okay to do the IHG personal or Biz? I've hit the spending on my CIP so it's time to get another card.

Next, I did a BAD thing. My mom has been in and out of the hospital/dr appts dealing with some terrible back pain. I missed my CIU payment by a few hours. I contacted them to ask how this affects the 0% offer (I have 0% until 6/25, so I do have a balance). They waived the fee but didn't say anything about the 0%, and any other fees. I can pay it off if I pull from savings. But seeing as I retired, and my $16/hr job at HD isn't adding much to the monthly budget, I kinda would prefer the 0% and let the money collect interesting in my Wealthfront account. Does anyone know? I'm not seeing any interest showing on the account yet. And like I said, Chase waived the late fee (I wasn't asking them too). I paid it like 8 hours late.

I'm about to close 3 cards. One CIU and 2 personal.

Does anyone think I should put some space between these closings or 'just do it'.

My credit score had the nerve to drop 3 points right after my last closing and last card applied for in late August/early September.

I'll be moving toward Amex for a bit, soon. My focus is the Aspire. But first I want to grab the no fee, keep it a year, close and app for Aspire unless something better in Hilton pops up.

I'll have to close Surpass, I guess. I will move very slow with this.
I have the surpass, the biz and the free card. Is there a reason you're closing your other Hilton cards? And Amex can get upset when you close cards. You MAY get an upgrade offer on the free card to Aspire. That has been my hope, but I haven't gotten lucky, LOL. They offer upgrades, but never w/ points.

Hubby and I are headed to Iceland this month to chase the Northern Lights and enjoy some cozy hot spring time. So I have been getting familiar with the Aurora alert apps and the past few days have had a lot of activity.
Y’all, look what showed up in my hometown!!! This is over Lake Michigan last night. It was amazing to experience. You couldn’t really see it very well with the naked eye, mostly through the lens.

Watch the skies the next couple nights for possible auroras. NOAA issued a severe solar geomagnetic storm warning for the next two days, which makes auroras even visible as far south as Alabama...but can also affect power systems and satellites.
I finally got to "see" them this week too! I was screwed out of the event in May. In Northern MI w/ cloud cover.. WAAAAH! But I saw them on Thursday :). And I saw them faintly on Monday. Iceland is still on my list to see them more vibrant! I'm bummed they went so south again. I would have loved to have seen them at the beach in NC!

This is definitely an option for them. My advice to get them both in early 2025 was based on the plan that they would have 2 through end of 2026 and then could both churn them at the end of 2026/early 2027 (depending on their 24 mos timeframe from first round).

How long was your gap between apps?

I might be in the same boat later this month. DH and I each got INKs in early August and I was planning on getting the Hyatt card in November. But the new Hyatt CC offer is pretty and ends this month. So it won't be quite 3 months when I apply for it, more like 2.5. I think it'll be okay since prior to the Ink, I had no Chase apps since January. But I'm worried that a delay from "review" might take too long and the card won't arrive before our trip to Japan in mid Nov...

I never thought much about SW companion pass as I thought I could never make the spend. I just realized that with the 85k sign up and 25k to refer another, I could actually earn this. But- I have to meet my 85k spend by 12/29. Will it show as earned 12/29 or in January after the cycle closes?

The sweating was for nothing; approval in about 1.5hrs, lol.

CIU 2/27
CIP 7/30
SW biz 10/13

So about 2.5 months between the last two apps, but same as you, no other Chase app since early in the year. If your trip isn't until mid November, I think you are safe to wait another week. But P2 has never had a card go in review for more than a few hours. Also apped with an EIN, so not sure if that makes a difference.

Just double checking on some points:

Performance business is 80k + at least 1x $5,000 spend= 85k RR points
25k support bonus- You are supporting someone else, correct? Never ever ever use your own support link- it will likely result in shut down from Chase/Amex (these points don't post immediately either)

That gets you to 110k companion pass qualifying points. You need to earn 135k in a single calendar year and all the points have to post before December 31. Points post only after your statement has closed and take somewhere from 1-7 days from your statement closing to move over to SW.
So, you will not have until 12/29 if you want the points to post this year. It's really going to depend on when your statement closes.

Do you have another 25k companion pass qualifying points you earned this calendar year? You can find that in your SW account>rapid rewards.

I want the points to post in January. I just got the personal card with 85kpoints after spending 3k in 3 months. My date to meet the spend is 12/29. my statement closes 12/11. If I wait to meet the spend until after the statement closes December, will the 85k points post in January? I can then refer my husband for $25k points and get 10k credit for having the card and then only need $15,000 spend to get companion pass? we have a large spend coming up in January. Then I would have companion pass for 2025 and 2026. is this correct?

It was for any Chase cards but as always YMMV

Yes that should work any points earned after your December statement closes will post in January 2025

Thanks, those stats are very similar. Current Hyatt CC offer expires at the end of Oct, so can't wait an extra week beyond that. I'll pull the trigger the last week of Oct

Will Capital One approve a 3rd personal card? I have a Quicksilver & a Savor (discontinued fee free one) I want to apply for a Venture X (for lounge access & global entry). No pre approval on it. Chance I get it if I apply? Credit score is in the 800’s.

Otherwise maybe a US bank Atlitude Connect Visa Signature? It has only 4 lounge visits but that would be enough since my husband gets himself +2 on the Sapphire Reserve so he can bring in the kids.

When was your last Chase card before the CIU? If it was say in January, -maybe- I'd consider it. But if it was in March, I'd wait longer.

I used to think no more than 3 open Chase biz was pretty safe, but have been seeing quite a few denials with 3 open lately.

my dd had 3 Cap One cards at one point in the last couple of years.

I think the pre approval tool is thought to be fairly accurate, but not 100%. Cap1 pulls all 3 credit bureaus. I hate wasted pulls, so I wouldn't do it since odds aren't good.

Is the goal to open cards for bonuses? Or do you just want a long term card for lounge access and then stop? If the latter, the USB Altitude Connect is not a bad choice since it has no AF. The bonus is low right now though. It used to be 50k, but hard to say if it'll come back. The business version of the Connect also comes with the 4 Priority Pass. Bonus is 60k for $6000 spend, though highest was 75k. No AF first year, $95 subsequent years, so you probably wouldn't want to keep it long term.

Bonuses are a plus, but main is the global entry & lounge access for myself. Would prefer something that I could keep. The only problem is the USB altitude connect is that redemptions are subpar so I would only use it to earn the bonus, lounge & global entry and then not touch it.

Your math seems right to me. That's super exciting that you'll earn companion pass for 25-26! You just want to time your spending just right, so that you don't meet the spend until after your statement closes on 12/11. Some pitfalls I've seen over the years are things like returns (Chase may count them towards your spending requirement) and even fraudulent charges can result in meeting spend too early. I would just try to leave yourself some buffer if you are starting some spending now, but not finishing until after 12/11.

Personally, if I had $15,000 in spend, I would be opening an additional biz card to get another SUB. I know that's not for everyone, but feel free to ask questions if you think that's something you might be interested in. Otherwise with your current plan, you'll be needing to meet 2 SUBS (your personal card now + DH's newly supported card) + $15,000 spend.
