With all the CIU/CIP denials, is it wise for me to cancel my CSR and app for another? I hit 48 months on December 28th. Also when should I cancel the CSR before re-applying.
I'm a bit nervous about doing this since I'd have to cancel my CSP as well, meaning I'd lose good redemptions on Sapphire products.
Agree with the recommendations to PC at least one or two of the current Sapphires to a freedom. FYI, in 2021:
downgraded CSR to freedom
apped for CSP and met SUB
within 3 months or so I upgraded to original CSR back to a CSR
Canceled the CSP at one year mark

Only sharing this dp bc at least as of a few years ago, it was possible to downgrade and reupgrade the same card in just a few months timeframe.

Trying to use Capital One points to book multi-city flights from Cleveland, OH to Hanoi, Vietnam on May 10 (arriving May 11), and from Singapore back to Cleveland on May 24, 2025. The best option I'm finding is on American Airlines, which is not a Capital One partner. Is there a way to work around that? I know American has travel partners that align with Capital One, but the best option by a landslide is going directly through AA (87,500 miles round trip). Any thoughts? Or does anyone know of the best websites to use Capital One miles for flights to Asia?

Closed my CIP on Nov 1, so have 2 Chase biz cards open. Denied for CIU :(. Wanted to get in on the elevated bonus. Reasons -

too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us
• Insufficient business revenue

My last Chase card was CIU on July 8. CIC opened in Jan. Sounds like what many others were told on denial.

Similar

Probably should have read on here before applying this afternoon. Closed a CIU on 10/31. Two other business cards - CIP and CIC. Last chase card opened was CIP in January. Limits were well below the $70K/50% of income. Looks like a flat out denial. Says I will get a letter in 7-10 days. Never been denied before!!

Add me to the list of CIU denials >:(
Sorry to hear about the denials.

I closed a CIU and a CIC on 11/4/24. I still have a CIC open and both SW business cards. I applied yesterday for a CIU and received the "We need to review your application. If you are approved you will receive your card in 7-10 business days". I have been checking my account repeatedly to see if a new card shows up or a letter and so far nothing. I will report once I have an update.

I was declined over 30 days with 4 business cards open and have since closed 2 cards, with the last one being closed on 10/28. Going to apply again and see what happened. Fingers crossed!

Disney Premier Visa - which offer?
  1. $200 Disney eGift Card + $200 statement credit after spending $500 in 3 months (found from an in-park ad)
  2. $400 statement credit after spending $1,000 in 3 months + $100 referral bonus from P2 (public offer)
Both would require the $49 annual fee. We'd net more cash back with offer #2, but spend less for more with offer #1.

Any help or input appreciated! (I know many may recommend another card altogether, but I do understand all of that and am still interested in one of these offers) :-)

I would take the one with the higher offer if you were planning on spending 1k in 3 months at the same value of any other card.

#2 is what I chose. $500 return beats $400. Spending the extra $500 to get an extra $100 is 20% return. Most other options are not going to give you that much.

I would do #2 since it’s more $$ and in cash….assuming you can meet the additional $500 spend…

WWYD: We are wanting to fly Singapore Air end of November/early December 2025, one way EWR-SIN, business class. It looks like flights open 355 days out, so flights for the dates we are looking at will open in the next month approximately. I've looked at business class as far out as it will let me, and many of the dates are waitlisted already for points. So this makes me think I need to book as soon as they go on sale. It would mean 223k URs need to be transferred, and if anything happens in the next year and we can't make the trip, I'll have such a large amount of points stranded at Singapore Airlines. WWYD? Would you go ahead and book, this far out, knowing that if anything happened, those points would forever be with SA? Or would you chance it and wait a few months, checking flights and hoping to snag a seat closer in? Our dates are flexible, so we have that working in our favor if we can find biz class closer in, but then do we risk not being able to snag seats at all if we wait? Would all the "saver" business class availability be gone? Ugh, I hate decisions like this. I hate transferring this amount of URs for something this far out, when literally anything can happen a whole year from now!

Also, since Chase probably won't approve us for any more business cards at the moment, we're thinking of our next move. Out of the US Bank business cards (which we've never gotten), would you go with the Connect for 60k points, or the Triple Cash for 75k points? AF is $0 for both cards the first year, and spend is the same ($6k/6 mos). The spending categories don't really matter to me... the deciding factor is really the Priority Pass membership. We would likely use the lounge access for Newark or JFK, Singapore or Vietnam next year. Is 4 lounge visits worth the $150 difference in rewards to you?

If an AMEX offer is added to the main business owners card, can you redeem the offer using an e'ee card? or does it have to be charged with the main card? Thanks.

I think it's the nature of the beast. You have to book at calendar open for more predictable availability. Otherwise, with some programs you can hope for last minute availability (think 1-2 weeks). Anything in between you're relying on luck that someone cancels or more gets released for some reason (like a new route opens).

Singapore miles expire 36 months after they're earned (or transfered in your case). I think you can pay to extend for 6 months once. So unfortunately, you can't punt indefinitely like you can with other programs. But if you needed to cancel, you'd still have 2 more tries at calendar open. Another option would be to look at partners that you're more okay with the miles getting stuck in, but the availability won't be as good.

If you get the biz class seats, you won't need PP for lounge access. I would go for the Triple Cash biz because it's elevated. Maybe the Connect biz will be elevated again sometime. It was 75k/$6000 at one point. In any case, I wouldn't pay $37.50 per person for a lounge visit.

Thanks! This is exactly the info I was looking for. Good to know the miles expire, so we'd have to take the trip (or use them on another trip) within 36 months basically of transferring them. I mostly have anxiety about leaving my dogs that long/finding a reliable sitter.

Did not realize we'd get lounge access with biz class on Singapore! That's great news! As we're only going to fly biz class one way (from EWR/JFK direct to SIN), I guess lounge access would apply at originating airport. Looks like British Airways lounge in Newark, or Air India lounge in JFK are the options.

On the way back, we're likely doing AA flights from Saigon, Vietnam, transit through Tokyo for a day layover to shop, and then home, most likely in economy or economy plus. So I guess we just wouldn't get lounge access on the way back, which definitely isn't worth $150 difference in rewards. I guess the Triple Cash is a much better offer then! Thanks for helping me work it through :)

I would definitely transfer the miles, but that's just me. Singapore Air has a fifth freedom route between JFK-->FRA, so if you don't end up going to Singapore you can always use the miles to go just about anywhere in Europe from Frankfurt (it is a major hub for Lufthansa). Singapore doesn't tend to release biz class seats closer to departure -- you have to get the seats you want pretty soon after the calendar opens. You should play with your dates to ensure that you get biz class saver seats.
Singapore Air is one of my favorite airlines. Excellent hard and soft product and they reliably release award seats.

This has always worked for me with biz cards/employee cards. It does not work with AU personal cards. I think the reason the former works is that an employee doesn't get their own Amex account where they can add offers.

For example, I have an employee card for DH's most recent biz plat. I do most of the shopping so it makes sense. The employee card doesn't show up in my Amex account. So I go to his and add offers. Most recently, we got the $15 back from $50 spend on the Pepper app and the $50 back from $750 spend on Amex Business giftcards. But I made the purchases with my e'ee card.

Wonder if this makes a difference. My BBP e'ee card does show in my AMEX account and I get offers on it. DH has the main account. To be safe, I'll just use his card.

You absolutely can create or add an employee card to an AmEx online account. And you can add offers to it like any other card.

So you never added your employee card to an online account and you can use either your card or the main card to trigger an offer?

Most reports before that have attempted that were negative. Maybe something changed or there were other reasons for the offer to fail.

Interesting tidbit I'll keep in mind.
