DH was approved for Barclay AA card this week. I know you have to pay the AF and have statement close for points to post. If I pay the current balance now including the AF, will the points post at statement close?

They should. I paid both for my charge and the af that posted before the statement date and the miles posted a day or two after the statement date.

Looking for advice on a weird travel situation with Hyatt. Had an award booked for the Hyatt House MCO for 9/24, AA misconnected me. I called the Hyatt as soon as the misconnect happened at 2034. Hyatt refunded my points and charged me $156.38 on my CSP. Has anyone had this charge happen before? Anything I can do? Any way this falls under the CSP insurance as the AA ticket was purchased on the CSP?

Unfortunately, it's policy that cancellations within the penalty period are refunded points and charged a cash rate. This was a 1 night reservation that you missed completely and not just a late arrival? I think there's not much you can do except ask for an exception, which they may or may not give.

My understanding is that it's not covered under insurance as it's not a prepaid expense. If you needed a different hotel to stay in, that would be covered under trip interruption.

Hoping someone with VentureX experience can answer. Got an alert my travel credit expires in TWO days. I completely forgot about it. Question is can i book hotel for future date through portal and it counts or book a flight now and cancel? I called customer service and got 2 completely different answers.

Guess my question does the stay have to happen before it expires or just booked? thank you.

experian site- I'm checking my list of accts there- all my amex have an 'acct #' listed with them that isn't my acct #, is this a thing there? I can see the other brands pretty easily...
Also- I see (I think) a biz cc listed there, I thought they weren't on the reports?

Correct, this was a one night reservation that was completely missed. The next day I began a scheduled stay at the Hyatt Place MLB for 4 nights on OPM.

Citi AA biz question: closed my account in July, 2019. Would I be eligible for another bonus now (past 48 months so should be good to go I think)? Is the elevated SUB still available?

Yes. The business card sub is at 65k, which is not the highest it has ever been, but is high enough to move forward IMO. The personal card sub of 75k is available until 10/9 (I've read elsewhere it may be 10/10).

Personal IHG sub is 140k- DoC says highest ever was 175k.... what are the odds it'll go that high again?

Odds are it will happen again or be something similar.

However, the spend for that was a tiered $11000 !!!! As in 100,000 points for $3000 spend and 75000 for an additional $8000 spend, over 6 months. An offer like this might work for someone not interested in other credit cards or 'non churners'.

The 140k points for $3000 in 3 months is a much better deal.

I'm about to close 3 cards. One CIU and 2 personal.

Does anyone think I should put some space between these closings or 'just do it'.

My credit score had the nerve to drop 3 points right after my last closing and last card applied for in late August/early September.

I'll be moving toward Amex for a bit, soon. My focus is the Aspire. But first I want to grab the no fee, keep it a year, close and app for Aspire unless something better in Hilton pops up.

I'll have to close Surpass, I guess. I will move very slow with this.

Bank of America Cruise offers

Separate 15% offers with a max of $150 cashback are available for

Royal Caribbean
Celebrity
Silversea

These don't say anything about having to use a link and the link in the offer details takes you to the cruise company website.

BoA used to use the same offers company as a few other banks so check your other bank cards like USB or PNC (maybe Chase? I honestly forget who would get the same promotions)

Why aren't these ever Princess cruises? 😭

I don't think so. The merger went through, the transfer should work until eventually the two programs become one (then no need to transfer). I think what everyone's waiting to find out is when Amex might cease to be a transfer partner for Hawaiian
Thanks for correcting my thinking. This morning I did the AMEX to Hawaiian Transfer and then the Alaska merge and booked flights for my DS and his girlfriend to Madrid next March.

FYI for those who may be applying for a SW card with the elevated 85,000 Rapids Rewards Points offer - the email I received said the offer expired October 9th. I went to apply today using my DH's referral link, and the same 85,000 shows but with an expiration date of October 17th. That gives a smidge more time to meet the spend in January to earn the CP in 2025. If you have a P2 with a SW card already, it may pay to check that referral link.

Hi Everyone! I'm new here and looking for advice / suggestions on what the best card would be for me to allow for frequent, low cost flights to Disney World. All of my details are included below. Please let me know if you have any other questions. TYIA!

First off, we are going to want you to list ALL credit cards you were approved for in the last 24 months.

  • 09/22 – CAPITOL ONE Spark Business Spark Cash Plus
  • We also have two other cards that are 25+ years old (A Discover and a Disney Chase Visa)

  • What amount of spend would you put on a card monthly (i.e. groceries, gas, insurance, cable, cell phone, other expenses)? - We pay for absolutely EVERYTHING with our CCs: Personal $6,000.00 / Business $44,000.00
  • Do you currently payoff your CCs in full every month or do you carry any balances/pay any interest? – We always pay both cards off in full every month. We never carry a balance or pay interest.
  • What airport(s) do you typically fly out of? – Chicago Midway MDW / Orlando MCO
  • Do you have a preference of Frequent Flyer program? - I’m not sure. We usually fly Southwest but are open to suggestions if there are better options.
  • Does SOUTHWEST Airline service your airport? – Yes
  • Do you have a Hotel Rewards program preference? – No. Also, we always stay on property at Disney.
  • Do you currently have travel points or miles in any program? (if so, which programs and how much) - None
  • What at your specific goals for churning credit cards? (i.e. Disney World Trip, Cruise, European Trip, Cash Back to pay-off a mortgage or student loans, etc. - you can have multiple goals too!) - We are buying our first DVC contract (resale) to “force” ourselves to take regular vacations to Disney World. At least a week twice a year but in addition to the longer trips, we’d love to be able to do several short stays throughout the year. The cost of the flights would not allow for the frequent short trips though so I’m looking for a way to save on flights for myself and my husband between Chicago and Orlando. Once every few years we might try to go to Disneyland as well. We used to use the Disney Visa as our business card to rack up points for “free” Disney trips. We switched to Capitol One once we realized we could earn 2% unlimited cash back and then put that into a HYSA to then be able to use that cash for anything. Also, unless there is a really compelling/strong reason to do so, after making the last CC switch just 2 years ago, my husband is not going to want to make another switch to a different card for our business. It’s tied to literally hundreds of suppliers and would be very difficult and time-consuming. If it would help, we could possibly switch a handful of key accounts if doing so will allow us to meet the spending requirements to qualify for a card’s benefits. Otherwise, I think we are just looking for a card for our personal spending. I’m open to options and don’t now what I don’t know so please just let me know the best options for us.
  • When do you plan to take these trips? (Keep in mind that it can be difficult to earn points/miles to cover imminent travel...it's best to plan far in advance, especially with regards to international travel)We’re flexible.
  • Who does your travel party consist of? (Spouse, Kids (& ages), other relatives/friends) – It’s just my husband and myself, both 55+.
I did receive an offer from Southwest for their CC. If we spend $3K in the first three months, we would receive 85,000 points. I don’t fully understand flight points and I’ve heard of but really don’t know anything about their companion pass and not sure how it works. I’m also not sure if the SW card is the best card for us or if there is something else out there that would be a better option.

I haven’t applied for anything yet but I know the deadline for the SW offer is 10/9.

Thanks again!

In my experience when you make the booking, flight or hotel, it just takes the $300 off when paying for the total at the time of booking. So yes, you can book something for future dates, and use the $300 credit immediately. If you cancel the flight, I would personally just take a flight credit, otherwise it will be refunded to your card, and they may clawback the credit.
